    DADGUM IT! GONE ALREADY!

Basic scenario: A bunch of hoodlums driving around paintballing people from a car. The people being shot at think they are being shot at with real weapons.

There needs to be more to the premise than that- is it day or night? How fast are they driving? Can I see/hear them coming? Do I have access to a means of shelter? Do I have a phone? Are they _______?

(forgot what room I was in)

Throw a fucking brick through their windshield. If they jump out for a brawl, they're just giving the cops time to show up and arrest them.

So you see someone pointing what looks like a shotgun barrel through a window at you, and you're gonna go find a brick and throw it through their window?

Locus, let's say that you're on a 12 foot wide sidewalk with no cover around and you have a .45 on your hip. You just see someone coming towards you at high speed with a barrel sticking out a window. Middle of day.

Take cover and prepare to return fire. After the first paintball explodes and I see what's happening, holster my gun, snap a pic of their plate with my cellphone, and call the cops.

Well if they are just pulling up next to you and opening fire, not a lot you can do.

    Paintballs hurt like hell.

Waiting for the news of poodle opening fire on random cars in the US now.

No, I'm gonna take cover, see paint balls splattering everywhere, and get really, REALLY fucking pissed off.

It's painfully obvious you're looking for an excuse to draw down and shoot some holes in people, and you might even have some legal standing for it, but once you see paint ball impacts, the opportunity has passed.

This is what happens to SOME people who carry a gun everyday.

I'd do what Marso would do.

At least in this scenario. :ramen:

Well, be less transparent about trying to stack the scenario in a way that justifies the use of a firearm. I told you what I'd do, and you responded by adding details intended to skew the perception towards assuming they had something worse than a paintball gun.

No, I replied to you. Locus had asked me to clarify the situation. You'll see where I addressed him in the comments I added - they weren't directed at you.

I asked about the brick because I wondered, seriously, where you were just going to find a brick laying around.

As far as skewing, again, no, just explaining the situation to locus. If someone comes towards you with their window down and a barrel sticking out, you're not going to be able to figure out if it's a paintball gun or a shotgun.

I wish the video hadn't been taken down, it nicely showed how hard it is to tell.

Duck is about all you can do. If there is a shotgun barrel pointed at you and you reach for a weapon you're gonna become somewhat dead.

If you have cover then use it, if you have enough range that you can pull a weapon and not get shot you're probably too far away to make a judgement on whats actualy going on.

He sure could have! I don't know of many guns that have white barrels, but hey, sure.

    What would you do, Mewa?

Or a rock, or a frikkin' beer bottle. I really shouldn't be throwing anything. I just know I'd be pissed off and wanting to retaliate. Taking cover to make a better assessment would probably be the ideal reaction. Shooting into a moving car with the threat hasn't been verified is a pretty shaky proposition, and that's if you trust yourself to always be armed, which I do not.

    Not all pipe is PVC.

And I agree that you presented the scenario in such a way that you'd get to cap somebody.

Your agressive, immature attitude towards guns gives responsible firearms owners a bad name.

That's right. Finding cover is the correct thing to do, even if it's just getting as low as possible.

    That's not good.

You don't have to wait for someone to kill you to defend yourself.

    Why don't you trust yourself?

Because I have known my anger to override my better judgement in the past. Being armed would only compound the threat perceived in me by others. Before you know it, I'm watching myself in the news from behind bars. No, thanks.

I've been exercising a lot too. It really is a stress reliever. When you say "until I drop," what do you mean?
