We need to know the particulars of this incident first.

To me, one of the major unresolvable problems is that schools are and always will be easy places to kill large numbers of children. Guns have been used, explosives have been used, I don't doubt bladed weapons could be used and most especially vehicles could be used.

I am going to be honest. This is right down the road from where I live. My sister and parents probably know the school and perhaps the teachers there. Really, both of my parents could have been teaching in this district because they were teaching in schools local to this. I think my mother might have actually taught in a elementary school in this area.

The honest truth is I am not in one bit surprised by this. I know the areas. There are shootings and robberies down here all the time. About two years back my parents were late for work because the gated community across from their gated community had some psycho go nuts and start shooting. These are not black neighborhoods. These are white gated neighborhoods. One of the guys who ate people's faces down here was arrested within a quarter mile of a house I used to hang out at. This is white people. We used to hang out on their back porch and watch the helicopters circle doing drug raids. Their neighbors were swatted. Just one day the mother comes out of her house and was pulled into the bushes and told if her black ass made a noise they would kill her by swat armed with assault rifles who barged into her home with her toddler and her other kid.

There are shootings down here every day. I have been in the fucking south Bronx, Harlem, the ghettos of Baltimore, DC, Atlanta, and a ton of other places and I don't walk down the streets here at night. I was held up twice at gunpoint while working at gas stations in ny, and I would not work overnights here because of the robberies and death. A few kids a week die in broward country. I would bet this single incident doesn't beat most of the death tolls for the month. There are shootings and small riots out here all the time. It is not like this is the ghetto either. Mar a lago and million dollar estates are right up the road. The Boca mall right up the road from this is one of the high end shopping malls with fifth avenue names where Macy's is the cheap shit.

This is south floriduh. They have walled in communities down here for a reason. That does not keep the violence out. When I say this area is a festering pit of human garbage it is because I know what a festering pit of human garbage looks like. This is life down here and though tragic it could be me tomorrow stopping to get gas. This is not surprising. What is shocking is it actually made the news.

Look, these kids just have to take one for the team, so gun collectors can stoke their anti-government paranoia, and gun manufacturers can get the platinum toilet seat in their mansion-yacht instead of the gold one.

If you don't understand that, you're a commie.

Nah. This is an NRA false flag. With Republicans in control of the .gov, gun manufacturers are hurting. Remington just filed for Chapter 11. They need some of that old fashioned panic buying.

This is south floriduh. The other night I was out grabbing coffee and gave a ride home to a guy stuck at a gas station. Dude hooked me up with an 8 ball for seventy and a huge bag of omg awesome weed for my troubles. He asked me if I needed a gun because he could get me a deal. Same gas station I have had repeated call girls come up and blatantly just start hanging on me and giving out their number. This is one of the better more patrolled stations. It is not that there is not a gun store every block. I am sure they do legitimate business because there are gun shows within an hour drive every weekend.

There are tons of drugs and a lot of criminals and outpatient crazies. It is not just black folks because every white person I know does drugs. I am the sober one. I am the one who rarely parties with weed or anything illegal. I am starting cosmetology school tomorrow and I wanted to party before going in. Offered a dude a ride and it is not like I had to wait. Why do you think I offered him a ride?

All I am saying is when you put this many guns and all these different people in the same area this is what you get. This is because the guns are going to get into the hands of everyone when you have little to no effort to close the supply and clean them up. I think we can do better, but the reality is America has never really tried. The only evidence I have is that when places like Australia and the UK controlled their gun sales and outright banned a lot of them they saw a huge decrease in fatalities. I cannot even say it would happen like that over here. It would probably take years to start making a dent in the number of guns. We are never going to do it when they just keep flowing in.

Maybe the r is a way to better control the flow, and I think if we were to cut the throat of organized crime by legalizing drugs and prostitution while using tax revenue to flood the street with cops and rehab programs we might better focus our efforts in the war on crime. But this is what our present nth system will bring, and I do not think we have seen the bottom of the hole yet. I think we need to do something different and we need to start finding some way to get guns out of the hands of criminals and crazy people, along with somehow fighting rage shootings by legal gun owners. Rage shootings are a problem because we are going to have rage. We have road rage problems also that we are fighting because there is just a natural flow to use a deadly tool in the heat of a rage incident. One of the best ways to fight that is by somehow making a cool down period where an angry person simply cannot get access to their gun immediately. There is nothing that says a gun owner is going to never get enraged in life.

Lawmakers are waiting for their NRA overlords to tell them what to say. Until then, it's just the usual "thoughts and prayers". My guess is that it'll boil down to "if more people had guns this wouldn't have happened....teachers should be armed...safe zones...."

I don't think we know enough about this particular shooting to come up with that list yet...though I have a few general ideas that I've mentioned here in the past.

And so, the spastic lefties are quick to politicize the tragedy and push their anti-2nd amendment agenda.

They'll offer an abundance of crocodile tears and moral condemnation of "gun nuts" and NRA supporters, but nothing in the way of real-world solutions.

For a while it seemed that everyone was agreeing that the deeper issue to be addressed was untreated mental illness. But the Left has abandoned that position, having realized it wasn't a pathway to their ultimate goal of outlawing private ownership of firearms. They saw talking about mental illness as a distraction.

I have met and known some of those teachers, and I see the kids around. You do not want armed teachers in these schools. They will shoot the ill mannered brats. These children are poorly behaved on a level you have never seen unless you are a teacher, and even then this is a bad area. One half of them are poor as dirt and do not give a shit and the other half are rich with affluenza and do not give a shit. The teachers have no respect from administration, the parents, the students, or their co-workers. Every one of those groups attacks and blames the teachers because their children are uncontrolled. There are fist fights all the time. There are gang level assaults all the time. This is so much worse than when I went to school.

You do not want to arm those teachers because they will be the ones shooting the kids dead. I have worked support for cable and I could not imagine being a broward county school teacher from the stories I have heard. I give those teachers credit. I have been to jail and if I had to teach a class full of the brats in this area I would gladly go back to prison. You could have me bunked with Chester the molester with a permanent camera up my ass with the corrections officers watching. American prison is a fucking cake walk compared to being a broward county school teacher. There are dead broward county school teachers in the firepits of hell relieved they will never have to teach at those schools again. I can hear them right now with their skin burning off drinking hot lava saying this shit isn't so bad.

Any report you hear about those kids being angels are fucking lies. I have seen these kids at local places and parties. I have seen their parents. It is not just the kids. These parents are some of the most vile entitled spoiled fucks you can imagine. I grew up in New York the assholes capital of the world and no it is not. This Boca south floriduh crap is on a level that amazes me. Maybe we do want to arm these people up and full the herd. Really, I cannot imagine why people want a build a wall along the Mexico border when these people are allowed to travel. Did a trench across the floriduh border and start shipping prisoners here. Snake pliskin wouldn't last a day in floriduh.

That doesn't actually eliminate many kids around these parts. To get tossed out of these schools on a disciplinary expulsion is hard to do. You have to physically harm multiple people on multiple occasions to be told to not come back. Not that there are not a lot of expelled children, but if they booted the regularly violent teens there would be no one left in class. My father was teaching children who had knifed teachers. He was not teaching in a school for problem children either. Nope, he was warned do not look those kids in the eyes because they have beaten teachers before. That is standard for schools in this area.

You want a real world solution? Dramatically reduce the number of guns.

It works, that's proven. We've seen that in numerous other countries are part of that "real world" you mention.

The mental illness angle is a good one to explore with regards to school shootings...not so much for the other 99.999999% of shootings....but worth exploring all the same. Aren't you a psychologist when you're not being a lawyer or race car driver or jet pilot? (or was that TheMaster?)

Either way, do you think mental health professionals should be made to report people that they think shouldn't be around guns to the FBI? What about the preceived stigma attached to that? How would we address people avoiding getting mental health care because they might lose their guns?

So we took the guns away from the wackos, and then the NRA gave 'em right back.

not quite getting what you are saying: that your daughter is safe while still a toddler versus growing up & going to a dangerous school, or that your daughter will someday be a parent and have a child herself?

Same day as the shooting and a website identifies the shooter as a Trump supporting, gun grabbing russophile? I dunno. Seems awful tidy.
