You should get her a pink semi-auto with a cute bow on the barrel. Although you'd get in trouble. Admittedly mostly for sending a girl in with something pink, and so re-enforcing gender roles.
No, no we can't. Any suggestion will be met with resistance. Many will regard anything but confiscation as unacceptable, mainly as the public are used to Magic Thinking. When the fucking FBI engages in it (over encryption at the moment) what hope for those well meaning folk who'd just like the massacres to stop? Suggest a roll out of the emergency locks on national TV, and watch as some group scream questions of why they should need those locks when guns are the problem, then another will chime in with it'd be cheaper to just arm the teachers. The NRA will get out their fat wallets for anything they even think whiffs of watering down the Second Amendment. And they'll find plenty of support and takers, mainly as the romanticized view of the gun is deeply ingrained into the American psyche. It'd cost money to tackle the societal problems that feeds into the deep seated problems that the US (and UK for that matter) have that feeds into our kids growing up with violent tendencies and thinking that violence is the only meaningful output they have to vent their frustrations. No one wants to vote for that. All nations have some things they'll toss rationality out of the window over, in the US, that just happens to be gun ownership. Realistically, all that can be done is like what your church has done - local level community actions, as you move above that it becomes increasingly improbable to action anything meaningful. The day I watch a tentpole movie where the hero has smuggled a gun into the place where guns are banned, and not only doesn't need it, but is actively castigated for having done so and proven wrong for having done so, I'll know things have changed then. Until that day, nothing will ever change but the names and the faces of those killed.
Jesus wept. The fact that you think that's a rational conversation or solution shows just how far gone your country is. Between mass shootings and the nut job a good percentage of you put in the White House, good fucking luck, America.
Tererun pointed out that far more people are shot & killed piecemeal 24/7 but nobody flips out until there is a mass shooting. And like Pavlov's dogs the usual wordforge suspects get on the "the US is so fucked up! You people are animals, you should get rid of guns! Guns are strictly controlled in Australia/Japan/etc. so you can do the same in the US. We don't have these mass shootings where we live!" Yes, I get it. I would love to see guns taken out of the hands of crazy people....and criminals....and anyone else who shouldn't have them.
I don't recall there being four school shootings in Arkansas in the last four years or so. Some elaboration needs to be done.
Lets pump the breaks on your hysterical map here. I live in Iowa and here's the Mass School Shooting detail for your pretty red dot COUNCIL BLUFFS (KPTM) - Students and staff at Iowa Western Community College are on edge after one of their own was shot.Police said a student was shot in a car in a parking lot on campus Saturday night. Investigators said he was the victim of an attempted robbery. " The student was treated and released later Saturday night. http://fox42kptm.com/archive/iowa-western-student-shot-on-campus-during-robbery-attempt
So what's the deal with the increase in mass school shootings over the past several years? What might be causing it?
Leftist won't be happy until the populace is totally disarmed while allowing the government to have all the guns.
Th The same Leftists who scream about fascism in the White House, the death of civil liberties in our new 24/7 surveillance state, and terrorist cops gunning down blacks on every street corner. These are the Leftists who then argue it' a bad thing for the citizenry to be armed. The problem with pampered, spoiled social media SJW's is that they've never lived under the jackboot of real totalinarianism.
The usual. Fluoride in the water, vaccinations, lack of prayer, non-Christians, promiscuity, the NWO, rock music, satanic messages in rock music when played backwards in a specific codec on Chinese hardware, aliens, ISIS and non-organic food. Marilyn Manson just died a little inside at not making that list.
They don't have a problem with this but it's horrible for an average person to be able to defend themselves.
You could replace 'gun' with most ornamental things women feel a house needs to become a home. I'd much rather we banned them first, I'd certainly want to go on less murderous rampages.
Have I missed your previous career of abused prisoner of a dictator? You should tell all, I can guarantee the entire board would enjoy tales of your shrivelled balls being crocodile clipped to a car battery, being force fed your own shit (and no, I don't mean quoting your own posts) and having a meths soaked piece of bamboo rammed up your torn sphincter and set alight. Of course I can't guarantee we wouldn't sympathise with the dictator though.
Looks like Flashy is being shy about his time as a guest of the Castros, back when his NAMBLA holiday to Cuba went horribly wrong. If I've triggered your PTSD over it, I'm terribly sorry!
If you think that the government doesn't give a shit about the average citizen now, wait til they are disarmed.
ahh... a weapon which is perfectly legal to own even here in gun grabbing Canada. so the only thing that's gonna cause you trouble here is if those two with the larger mags aren't pinned at five rounds.
Yup. I think most reasonable people aren't opposed to gun ownership. I'm certainly not. But in no western democracy, other than the United States, is owning an inanimate object a constitutional right. The fact that firearms ownership is treated as a right has unfortunately made it a "symbol" of freedom and ingrained itself in the American psyche and culture. I really don't know what the answer is at this point, short of letting all the gun nutjobs kill just about everyone until (hopefully) a small group of rational people are left to finally fix the problem.
Firearms ownership in the United States is NOT "treated as a right" because of national culture, psyche or anything else. It is "treated as a right" because IT IS a right. Its written in the damned Bill of Rights. Its not something added years later because Americans were "afraid of the blacks " or "afraid of the communists" or whatever. It is a basic part of the Constitution written in there by the same founding fathers that wrote things like the First Amendment, Fifth Amendment, and Eight Amendment and others most seem to revere. Maybe its a bad idea. Maybe it was a good idea that went bad. Or maybe its still a good idea. But its still there.
I would support age restrictions to own AR-15s, but then again we have an age restriction on being President and we still ended up with failure Donald Trump.
Move on, nothing to see here. Can't demonize Republicans. Can't demagogue about the NRA to win approval of the like-minded. Can't tsk tsk about barbaric America from abroad. Leave it on the slow-burner to cook a while. Won't be a tragedy or even a big issue unless/until one can find a way to politicize it; so store up all that warm & fuzzy compassion until the next nut on a murderous rampage for a moment when you can shoot!
