I started ONE thread about that. Wow, the offense is sooo great that he just had to put me on ignore.

And in terms of Sokar's signature, who, exactly is he "bullying"? All those posters are already gone. He is not trolling any current member of Wordforge with it. I really see no reason why he shouldn't be able to use it in any forum he wants.

Me too. I'd kinda figured it was that way this whole time, really.

In fact, you even get occasional non-political/religious/whatever threads in the Red Room that are there not because the posters think the thread will die in another forum but because they just want to be able to vent without annoying the staff. The converse (or reverse, or whatever) should be perfectly acceptable too.

    Good. :)

All political threads? Moved there? [IMG]

    Agreed.

And, since no one is calling for that, suggesting that, or even hinting at that being a remote possibility, it is certainly something on which we can all agree.

And yet, Liet is posting his political threads in the Green Room as we speak. I guess his feelings were butthurt.

I'm hearing Duran Duran music when I look at that.

That's probably not what you wanted to hear, but....

    Not possible, and lexicographically offensive.

I know exactly how you feel. It's frustrating when a poster constantly dogs you for no discernible reason. :garamet:

Maybe you could stop derailing a help desk thread.

My point about the political threads is that NO threads, EVER....about politics, should be started in the Green Room.

Async, 90% of the threads you've involved in are fun, interesting, thoughtful....and without all the flaming, trolling, and insulting people seem to think happens in the RR 100% of the time.

I see no point whatsoever in a push to have any political discussion in the Green Room.

You can be civil in the Red Room too. Nobody is forcing you to troll and flame other members.

Liet is one of those people, and now he wants to start discussions in the Green Room because he's sick and tired of the flaming?

He's one of the culprits, and now he wants the rules to protect him because he can't stand having to deal with the shit he doles out all the time?

    Seriously?

Because that is a load of horseshit.

Where is the harm in having an *additional* forum to post controversial topics in? It's not as if the Green Room is swamped with topics. It's not as if everyone's suddenly going to abandon the Red Room. This doesn't need to affect you at all.

I'm talking about that little statement that you wrote. The one where you say, "I know exactly how you feel. It's frustrating when a poster constantly dogs you for no discernible reason. :garamet:" clearly indicating that you feel you are in the same position as Megatron.

You are agreeing that he is getting "dogged" all the time by pointing out that you know the feeling of getting "dogged" as well.

Of course you like Megatron are not innocent in anything that gets thrown back at either of you from other posters.

Hence my comment to you to stop playing innocent. You know why you get "dogged" by other posters.

Why? In what way does it hurt you, or me, or the Red Room, or anything, if someone starts a political thread in the Green Room? If it's interesting, those who want to can participate in it, which would show that it corresponded to what some people wanted. If it's not, then it will not go anywhere and thus will not change anything.

I really don't see why having that alternative is a problem.

Here's a question for our owner:

If a political thread is started in the Green Room will a thread of the same topic in the Red Room be shut down or God forbid merged into the Green Room thread?

Don't hem and haw over it either. Make a clear answer in this thread because if you are going to allow political threads into the Green Room so certain people can avoid having their feelings hurt then the mods are going to need to know how to handle the same topic in the Red Room. I'd be pretty upset if a mod locked or merged a political thread in the Red Room because the same topic is in the Green Room. Edit: Or was in the Green Room first.

I think the mods need to be told in no uncertain terms that they are to not shut down Red Room threads that happen to also have a "sister" in the Green Room.

Oh and like Sokar, you mods have my condolences.

It's going to be one long reported post after another when the leftists start in on how someone is "intentionally" trolling in the Green Room political threads. It's going to be the Enterpriser situation all over again where it was nothing but complaint after complaint.

I've been here a lot longer than you. I've made friends here and lost friends (remember JTK? No, of course you don't) trying to keep this place together.

Hell, I remember the nights when Borgs was about to destroy the board and Elwood was a few steps away from creating his own. I remember holding out too, and convincing Borgs to talk to Elwood.

I've spent more time trying to keep this board in working order than you've been here, so why don't you go back where you came from?

It's a problem because my characterization of Azure and his friends is correct: they can't act like bullies and mete out vigilante justice in the Green Room, and the thought that they might not be able to do so in a "controversial" thread offends them. To them the board exists for no other reason than so they can establish social dominance over lefties. If there's political discussion in a forum where they don't have the tools to do so, then they're going to feel rather emasculated.

This implies that Liet is seeking a change in the rules, specifically in the Red Room rules. At least, that's how I read it. YMMV.

P.S. Since I have a handy post to mention it in, I suspect both of the posters immediately before this post are going a little too far in their characterizations of each other. That is, they're overstating the situation. Not as in, they're flaming each other or anything.

Clearly, you're making assumptions based on insufficient facts. My statement was addressed to Megatron's years-long habit of deliberately targeting personal data, like yelling "Nigger!" at Anna or calling Tamar fat or, in my case, every single post and 99.9% of his rep comments are addressed not to the topic nor even to me, but to someone very dear to me who is not a member of this board and whose relationship to me Megatron dragged here without my permission from another board.

Which is hypothetically forbidden under Rule #5, except that staff has exempted me from protection under Rule #5 not once but twice, once because I registered here under my RL name and therefore any statement about my personal life, accurate or not, is fair game, and twice because the nonmember has been adjudged to be a "celebrity," in which case Enquirerforge rules apply.

Now, if you'd like to continue to express an interest in why Megatron has for years engaged in this behavior toward virtually every member of WF who shows up on his "radar," to borrow his term, I'll be happy to indulge you.

Otherwise, you're just playing the "garamet attacks people for NO REASON" card, and you need to buy a new deck.

Once again Asyncritus and I are in complete agreement about something. Pity Async will never know that...

So you're essentially admitting that some people can't control themselves and need adult supervision?

Not that I'd disagree with what you're implying, but it's refreshing to have it stated so blatantly.

And because he can't get a change in the Red Room rules, he wants to start political discussions in the Green Room because he can't stand all the personal insults.

Which is ironic, since he's as much a culprit of insulting other WF members as anyone else.

I'm really interested how Liet is going to act in the Green Room. He has at times, called people morons/idiots/retards/whatever else simply for stating their opinion.
