Well who here hasn't done that at one time or another? As someone who posts at TK Tamar I'd think you'd be more forgiving of internet tyranny.
Nope. You have to be able to read everything so you have to grit your teeth and bear it when it comes to aggravations like Baba.
I like you here and off wordforge. But ..., like me, you do tend to let personal feelings toward someone effect your responses to them on the message board. I couldn't even be a mod, let alone owner. I'd ban everyone at one time or another.
I'm not paying attention? It looks like you've forgotten Sokar's signature in which he proudly took responsibility for running off left leaning posters.
Untrue. Elwood sold the board to me in part because I had already expressed interest in buying it. And that goes back to when Cass owned it . . . she was thinking of selling it and I hinted that I might buy it from her. Mostly because JohnM threatened to buy it and I doubt anyone wanted that to happen. You'd be on my short list, shootER. You seem to have a level head and the respect of nearly everyone here.
Pretty much. I find the most pathetic part of it is that Elwood actually thought Lanzman would make a good owner.
"Your" shortlist? Surely the number one reason for a candidate is their ability to continue funding. Have you thought about that? Or is it back to the popularity contest?
Tempting, but no. K1A maybe the board's greatest and most unpopular twat, but unless he breaks the rules I wouldn't ban him, no matter if I loathed him for England.
Who the fuck else do you imagine would get a vote? I would be selling something I own. Sure, I'd ask opinions of folks, but in the end, the decision of who to sell it to would be mine. Holy Jeebus, no wonder everyone hates lawyers . . .
Here's the flaw in your thinking: If either side bans someone solely for disagreement (your erroneous assumption that $corp et al. would ban you; your decision that you would ban KIRK), you end up with a board full of people sitting around going "Fuck, yeah," and it dies. The nuance is in how the majority treats its loyal opposition. If all they do is dogpile and play silly rep war games, they end up as otiose as TK. If, after a board has gone through its awkward adolescent phase, the majority of its members opt for discussion/debate/conversation and not only start to censure the Potty Mouth Brigade but - - actually consider neutering rep, that's a sign of maturity, IMO.
People hate lawyers because we ask difficult questions that touch nerves. I always find it amusing that when there's no other response the fall back is always a "scum lawyer" remark, despite the fact that my profession is vastly different from the American version.
It doesn't matter if it's an outright ban or "run off". I come here because there are people I like to post with (talk with) and, I think, some like talking to me. Why would I come here if I thought everyone hated me? The point is, I would not be welcome. - solely because of my politics. I would ban kirk because he adds nothing to a discussion - not that I do, either, but I'm cute and funny and he isn't.
Wrong. Kirky is nothing but teduous repetition. It's all either an Obama rant or everyone is an asshole. That shit gets tiresome after a day or two. You do not do that.
No one can run you off if you don't want to go. Um, I think you've just managed to contradict yourself twice in three sentences. You'd only succeed in enhancing his martyr complex. And it's really not necessary. Notice how he keeps taking potshots at Lanz lately? He seems to think that'll get him banned. Then he can go whining someplace else...although he's running out of options. Better to just let his own character flaws do him in, and they will eventually.
Chup I feel you should follow the Christian Höhne Sparborth approach - buy the board, put someone else in charge, and never come back.
No. I'm saying the only reason I come here now is because I think people like reading my posts. If I'm wrong, or if I get the impression everyone hated me, why would I come here? Please don't make me spell this out. I know you know what I mean.
Most of us do. I can have as much fun throwing shit around as much as anyone else sometimes but not to a point that I take it to heart so much. I dont worry about being too serious sometimes, but i do like to get in my two cents and move on to the next thread. But some people who start a rep whine thread are like putting a target on their back. PS. I dont have a problem with Lanz as owner either.
That settles it. I will buy the board. I'll bring back the White Room and change the Gray Room to a Southerners Only forum. Everything else stays the same.
This is been repeated so much people actually believe it, but it's not true. Sokar wasn't taking credit for anything...he was simply listing the people who had run off to mock them....he never claimed to have done the deed but that's what all his "enemies" got to stick. It was never a fact, though.
"Enemies"? I hadn't realized he was my enemy. Either way, like I said, it doesn't matter if it's an outright ban or if the environment is so hostile to a poster they leave of their own free will. The point is, they're gone. If any one of those rep-warriors owned the board, rep-warring would become the norm until everyone they don't like is 'run off'. Then they will turn on themselves.
