Makes sense this way. Cockpit to the side and the ship itself never seemed big enough to be carrying cargo in a capacity that would make it economically viable.
It's already been said that Solo will be carrying cargo. Also, the falcon will have blue paint, not red.
Depends upon the cargo. People have been able to make a good living with a light plane and hauling cocaine.
Well yeah of course but I'm talking the overall design of the class itself. The class of ship that the Falcon belongs to are basically freight-pushers.
There's going to be three MORE weeks of reshoots. http://www.darkhorizons.com/more-solo-reshoots-on-the-way/
Yep. They were able to totally replace Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer in All the Money in the World, and I think they did that only a month or two before release.
Probably there's another asteroid field chase in this one, and they aren't having the same luck as in ESB of defying the odds and getting the Falcon through in the first attempt. Three weeks is just the expectation value of how long it takes until they don't blow the ship up.
Yes. Some creations are good immediately, other are good after a lot of tweaking, others still suck either way. This neither means the movie will be good nor bad.
We can't find Solo! Let's send Boba Fett after him! Edit: a quick Google search says Monday's the day.
I know this isn't the kind of question SW fans want to hear but... why would such a 'steam locomotive' type of ship be especially fast and highly maneuverable? *ducksandout*
My take on it is that the design is like a tugboat so it is overpowered. Especially when it’s not pushing cargo pods. Unlike a tugboat that has to fight the resistance of the water the freighter in space has no resistance against it and those huge engines can give it a huge speed advantage. At the same time we know Han has made upgrades to the Falcon so his ship probably has upgraded engines. His ship was certainly fast enough to outrun TIE fighters.
Seems to me the TIEs kept up with the Falcon pretty well. Even if you presume the battle against the TIE fighters after the Death Star escape in ANH was a consequence of TIE fighters intercepting the Falcon, the Falcon was still unable to run away from them. When the TIE scout ship passed the Falcon in the remains of Alderaan, Han was not certain he could overtake the fighter before it reached its base (the "small moon").
Kept up being the key phrase there in your sentence. State of the art top of the line fighters should have left his ship in the dust. But they could barely keep up. In Star Wars you can let it slide since they were letting the Falcon escape on purpose. But in the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi clearly the Falcon was faster or equal to the top speed of the TIE and TIE Interceptor. Neither craft could overtake the Falcon. You wouldn't expect that type of performance from a simple "cargo ship" but one from a souped up version. He'd never faced TIE fighters before. He's a smuggler. Not a rebel. He didn't know their specs.
Or, he realized that shit was going to get a lot a deeper and he was hoping to cut and run, rather than chasing the TIE fighter.
That too. Probably wondering just what the fuck that old fool got him mixed up into. It's only his debt to Jabba that motivates him to take them in the first place. Plus we know Chewbacca pushed Han. Chewbacca's a sympathiser for the rebellion IMHO. Always has been. I bet he even realized who Kenobi was.
Well, if you believe that George Lucas survived that fatal car crash in '82 and made prequels in the early '00s, then it would be reasonable to assume that Kenobi knew who Chewie was, if for no other reason than Yoda and Chewie were friends.
I only saw the prequels once and even though I remember seeing Chewie and Yoda did Chewie ever see Kenobi? I guess he could have seen him through Facebook.
Kenobi would have known that Yoda was on Kashyyyk. Not unreasonable to assume that Ben either Force-Skyped Yoda to ask him if he knew any wookiees before approaching Chewie, or Ben dropped a few hints in their conversation which enabled the two of them to figure out that they had a mutual friend.
Precisely because it's intended to push large amounts of cargo so is overpowered for its size. As for maneuverability, have you ever seen video of the crazy shit forklifts can do?
