I think most people can, but some obviously can't resist taking a shot. Then you get three pages of completely off topic childish insult slinging. As I said before, even if you can resist it, no harm in using the tools technology has given us to make it easier. Not to mention it makes the page much cleaner and easier to read when you don't have to wade through mindless drivel to get to the posts worth reading.
True, it's why I eventually had to put Garamet on ignore. She isn't mature enough to stay out of the muck and ends up falling for the troll bait every time. But that said, every poster who DOES ignore the idiots is one less person to add to the derail.
The Aurora shooter will be in Colorado State Court this morning, to face charges. He will be represented by the Public Defenders office. The state is represented by District Attorney Carol Chambers. In previous cases,Timothy Mc Vea and the Tuscon shooter, Jared Loughner, were charged in Federal Court, for the murder of Federal Employees. A look at the list of the 12 victims shows that two were on active duty with the U.S. military. But right now, it looks like this case will be handled in State court. Colorado has only executed one person, since it re-instated the death penalty, in 1977. In the Tuscon case, a Federal Judge ruled in January that Jared Loughner was not fit to stand trial at that time. He was put on a mandatory program of medication. Loughner has a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday, August 7. I hope that this case will be allowed to move forward.
I kind of wish that the DA would simply offer him a LWOP deal right now, he takes it, and be done with it. We can finally stop parsing his psychotic personality to figure out what his "motivation" is - a concept entirely unnecessary in sustaining a conviction for...well...any crime.
I dunno. I'm generally opposed to the death penalty but in this case the guy was (allegedly) caught red-handed. I only wish the cops that arrested him had, er... flexible morals... and just popped him, then try to make it look like self-defense. 'Course, hindsight is 20/20.
It sure is. But CO has executed one person in the last 35 years and has only 3 people on death row. Is he a candidate to join those three? Yes. But we'll just keep hearing about how he's still alive for the next 35 years.
Hence my point about him getting lit up by the cops. If the red hair in today's courtroom appearance is any indiciation, this nutjob wants the attention. And certainly the politicians and professional mourners are already swarming Aurora like locusts. This outpouring of faux shock and grief was bound to happen anyway, but with the wackaloon out of the picture we wouldn't have to hear about it and/or him for the next 35 years.
Apparently the guy's mother claims she was taken out of context by a reporter. Who could have made such an error you ask? Multiple choice, your options are "A", "B", or "C"...
This is getting too common. Actress Michelle will be along to obfuscate the issue though. We must wait for his guidance.
Why must you make this thread about him again? I just read the last page and there wasn't a post from him....well, except for your stupid comment.
Wait wait wait, my brain just kicked into gear on this one: why is everybody harping on the 6,000 rounds of ammo when he was only carrying - COULD only carry - 100 for the rifle and a couple of mags for the pistols?
I don't think people realize how fast someone who is shooting weekly can burn through 3000 rounds of ammo in the first place.
Yeah, well, what do liberals care if they kill the shooting sports in America? Never mind that the only thing America consistently wins at the winter Olympics is biathalon.
Even the death penalty isn't enough for this sort of crime. He'll probably just be laughing the whole time he is in the chair. I'm not sure I can even dream up any punishment that would fit the crime or force any remorse out of him. A guy like this might even welcome torture. I guess the most we can do is execute him quickly, don't give him any more attention, and try to help the survivors move on and recover. Hope this doesn't turn into a long show trial.
Ah ok the plan makes more sense in light of shooter's post. He rigged the apartment to blow up and cranks up the music to get someone to go set it off, be it a neighbor or a cop trying to get him to turn it down. The ensuing chaos takes the emergency responders across town and then he is free to go on his killing spree, casually walk out and get rid of the body armor and drive off. Hence he is surprised by the quick police response and doesn't actually have the chance to go down fighting because he gets caught while trying to change out of the combat gear. I have no idea why he would do this or what his plan for when he left the theater might have been but I feel like as smart as he supposedly is that he might have fully intended to get a head start running from the law with a plan like that.
Those 3 girls must be devastated, I could only wish to be so brave. Truthfully I would probably piss my pants.
