And the guy they mis-named has had to change his phone number and move out of his house for a while due to death threats. Oops?
Wait, so the rates spiked during Carter, dropped during Reagan, then spiked again during Clinton...? That's it. We gotta ban democrats.
Oh - he apparently had one of those 100-round dual-drum mags on the AR-15. Watch for them to be banned again.
Has anyone else seen the as of yet unsubstantiated rumors that Holmes was a part of the occupy movement, but that he left because they weren't radical enough?
I'm not anti-gun.....just looking for an answer. What benefit is the 100 round magazine. 3x the weight....balance is off. How does it help?
I have no idea. I have no desire to own one. However there are plenty of things that people don't "need", that are a hell of a lot more deadly than beta mags. So I don't understand the point.
The practical reason for the 100 round mag is the use of AR patterned rifles in remotely operated rifles. Robots, vehicle installations, etc.
Considering its a semi-automatic rifle, there is zero chance you get them all before they swarm in and kick your ass. I would imagine for any semi-automatic rifle, accuracy and balance is more important than firing from the hip and hoping you hit someone.
Azure agrees: that or just ignore him without putting him on ignore Yeah, but why even bother? As I said in the post you repped, has he ever said anything worth reading anyway? Why not just put all the worthless trolls, idiots, spammers, and assholes on ignore and then when you open a thread all you see are posts by people actually worth the precious seconds it took to read their post and consider it? Tools are a good thing. Technology is a good thing. Use the fucking tools technology gave us to make your own WF experience AND THE EXPERIENCE OF EVERYONE ELSE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO READ THAT SHIT better? Be the fucking adult. Ignore the children. It's not that fucking hard.
I've got several 75-round drum magazines for my AKs and I don't notice any "balance" issues at all. As with an AR15, the magazine well is on the bottom, between the pistol and foregrips.
Less reloading, obviously. No, seriously, goes back to the old, "load it on Sunday and shoot it all week" saying. Downside is that it's a lot easier to burn through all that expensive ammo.
I wasn't aware that you and I had a problem. What gives? If there's anything this whole sad affair needs it's another politically unsubstantiated rumor.
I'm guessing part of that comes from us not treating every person that wants to own guns as a criminal. That said, depending on which state you're talking about, it's not really as easy as "O hi thar, i can haz gunz nao"--In New York, it can take up to a year and no less then ten different forms to be able to even have possession of a gun.
What do you suggest? Me I liked to see more of this. [YT="71 year old CCW holder thwarts robbery."]4XSJv8nwVBk[/YT]
Not that I don't understand the principle behind this; but the effort to place those types of idiots on ignore is hardly worth it...at least to me. I've got enough self-control to ignore 99 percent of the stupidity.
I question the eagerness of embracing an ignore list. I mean how many Wordforge members do you put on the list before realizing that other Wordforge members might not be the problem? Beyond that every member has the potential to say something worthwhile and most every member does. I can't put any member on ignore myself, but it's never been a problem.
I appreciate that. But you can slowly change things over time in terms of the availability of ammunition for older weapons and public access to new ones. I'm not saying take the guns off the street, merely discussing the idea of making the process of obtaining one a little strictor on a countrywide scale. Criminal possession and blackmarket weapons will always exist. They do here and throughout Europe. That's the way it is. But still our incidents of gun crime are lower, especially in terms of the number of incidents of every day citizens carrying out attacks like this. We have them once every 10-20 years and you have multiple examples of them per annum. Surely that has something to do with how easy it is for joe public to get access to guns and less to do with the criminal black market, which is by and large used by the criminal underworld and gangs? I'm not so sure they are comparable. People seek to aquire drugs to fuel addiction. It is not quite the same need with guns. Well this raises the question of how many situations you, or your family or friends, have found yourself in where you need to use such protection? Ok, fair enough. But it's still pretty easy for a mate of their to go and buy one on their behalf, no?
Motive - reports are coming in the guy identified himself as the Joker, and that's why he boobie-trapped his house for the police. Wow.
Newsflash - Joe Public isn't a threat to general society. Joe Public gets drunk and shoots his tramp of a wife - that doesn't affect me. Criminal gangs go downtown and spray bullets - that affects me. My point? The criminal underworld and gangs ARE THE BIGGER THREAT at least here in America - so how would harder gun access solve the problem? Joe Public stabs his wife instead, but the gangs still spray bullets. Good call.
Gangs spray far more bullets than the nutbags who shoot up schools and theaters. There are thousands of gang-related shootings each year. For all the hype and coverage they get, mass shootings like the one that happened Friday in Colorado don't happen very often.
