I wonder how long it takes for these kinds of aid packages to actually make an impact on the battlefield.

I imagine pretty quickly if they know how much and when as they can use up reserves knowing they’ll be refilled.

Between taking out the Tu-22M3 bomber and the OTH-B (Over The Horizon - Backscatter) radar complex that covered Europe (including Ukraine), all hundreds of km inside Russia Ukraine has used up some valuable long range precision strike capabilities this week.

You gotta think this bill is playing a part.

Also the OTH-B complex being taken out now means the F-16s can take off and land at Ukrainian bases without Russia immediately knowing.

Not for nothing, this does help Putin keep control as dead soldiers are not revolutionaries who need to be fed. Send the grunts and conscripts out to die and you lower your need for resources in country while also slimming the manpower for overturning your power.

This is what you need to do when you have a country full of oppressed men, and a rich upper class that is living in luxury elsewhere in the world on their hard work. He does not care if they die.

You have to kill him and his powerful net in control of the country if you want to stop this. Otherwise this shit will happen again in another generation.

On a vote of 311-112, the House has passed the $60.8 billion aid bill to Ukraine.
All Democrats voted in favor of the measure.
It was nearly evenly divided among Republicans, with 101 in favor, 112 against and one voting present.
Democrats as well as guests in the gallery cheered when the bill passed. House Speaker Mike Johnson warned that it is “violation of decorum” to wave flags on the floor.

One wonders how much of a difference it can make when so many of the problems faced by Ukraine are down simply to manpower.

Oh, not at all. It doesn't make nearly as much money as defense contracts, so it was never a consideration.

I'd spend it on vets before I dump it overseas.

With Trump and NATO disintegration a real possibly a lot of countries who thought they had a nuclear umbrella aren’t so sure. A lot of countries with the means to quickly rectify that problem.

They were predicting a new era of proliferation.

Oh. And of course Macron has made noises about stepping up and providing the umbrella if the US steps back.

Not aware of anyone who wants the US to "stay out of world affairs". The ask more often is that the US not seek to completely dominate world affairs.
