Things getting heated in House GOP meeting. McCarthy swore in his speech, dropping a “god damnit.” And he made clear he would negotiate no more. McCarthy also said opponents came to him with “personal asks” last night. Lauren boebert yelled in response to speech: “BULL SHIT”

Fred Upton? He’s not even in Congress anymore. Seems as unlikely as Liz Cheney.

The one thing Republicans were always good at, that was their superpower that always frustrated me as their enemy, was their ability to circle the wagons no matter what.
    ...now they've lost that. :diablo:
I'm reminded of that Voltaire quote "I have only ever made but one prayer 'lord, make my enemies ridiculous' and it was granted". :D

So the idiot Republicans are actually contemplating electing a Speaker who ignores House subpoenas and has just been referred to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution?

    America, fuck yeah! :enty:

The roll call vote is too slow. I've definitely heard 3 or 4 "Jordan"s and 2 or 3 absences so far though (as of 'Goldman'). Edit: as of Graves, there are 10 Jordan votes. Ballot 3 here we come.

Ugh, PBS has the (much) better mic, but C-SPAN has a vote-tracking graphic.

In my country's system of democracy, Jeffries would be Speaker of the House.

WTF, America?!? You're clearly not ready for anything other than a stupid two-party system.

Your country requires a majority to become Speaker of the House of Commons. :jayzus:

Ah, fuck. My bad. Thanks. I got confused with our first-past-the-post riding electoral system.

Anyway, my point about your shitty two-party system still stands. :bailey:

If those 19 guys change their vote present Jeffries wins. So Kevin really does need to flip six of those to him.

Is that right? I thought they have to be absent to change the threshold.

2 Jordans so far at Bishob.
    Boebert makes it 3.
And a 4th Jordan still in the Bs.

Six Jordans now and we are still in the Cs. If I’m doing my math correctly as long as Dems stick with Jefferies we are going to 4th ballot yes?

    And another Jordan.

How long before one of the Democrats casts a vote for Liz Cheney just to watch chaos ensue?

Jordan gained a vote, McCarthy and Jeffries each lost one (presumably an absence).
