Were you protecting "liberal pussies" like Actormike and garamet by allowing them to use the Green Room for flame-free current event discussion? Were the trolls robbed of a voice because they could no longer "silence" others by removing their rep power?

Call out threads are a Wordforge tradition, and can be fun as hell. You guys literally just TNZ'd wordforge, they made the exact same decision because too many liberals were getting their feelings hurt, and now a forum where just about everyone consistently posts has been split up. Makes no sense.

Well, no, what happened was I was inspired by Trump and his idea of building a wall. I mean, hell, he had so many advocates here on Wordforge. So I built a Violet Room, and I made the trolls pay for it.

Rep got out of hand, so we dialed it back, yeah. It was being used to troll and flame outside of the Red Room.
The Green Room was always (and still is) there for anyone who wants to use it. If you want to have a discussion under more controlled conditions than the Red Room, that's what the Green Room is for.

You'll note that I often went out of my way to "protect" someone who wasn't liked by the Kewl Kidz. Even posters I personally did not like. The current ownership seems to be a lot less even handed about these things, and your outbursts only point that up.

Some people just like to rage. Possibly a secondary issue is ego telling them this is some sort of strategy pointed directly at them.

Actually Lanz, you just articulated one of the reasons for this. I get that you don't see it, but just the same, there it is. Also worth noting, this came up as an idea for not banning somebody, but instead rethinking the board scheme slightly in a way that might better accommodate user needs without taking that extreme step. But if people think adding a room is more horrific than banning a prolific spammer, I guess we can go that direction instead.

Notice how the lefties always complain about the "quality" of discussion in the Red Room? Why don't they use the Green Room? Oh that's right. It's not good enough. They could have turned the Red Room into a natural Violet Room simply by not posting in the Red Room. But nope. They love posting in the Red Room too. But they still can't resist the urge to throw their weight around and punish those who don't meet their standards.

Yeah it doesn't seem like solely John's idea. In reality, I don't think anyone left posting in the Red Room gets their feelings hurt with callout threads. They might melt down a little, but I think most of the remaining posters can handle it.

I don't think creating the Violet Room was necessary, but I also don't think it is nearly as bad as most are making it out to be. Honestly, I don't see much changing other than having to click over to another forum.

I do disagree with essentially quarantining Baba and gturner threads. As annoying as some of those threads tend to be, I've always been of the opinion that it's easier to just not click on such threads. But it's kind of a Catch-22 here. The same people complaining that the staff should do something about Baba are still complaining now that the staff has actually done something. Some people aren't ever going to be happy.

it's an idea that not only was tried in the past (with a more heavily traffic board) that flopped, but also seems redundant.

you could probably pare the board down to MC/Red/Green, with Blue retaining it's special status without it becoming cluttered.

Not so much this, no. This is a variant on the Daycare that can be found at TK. That it can be used for call-outs is a bonus. Plus, my little addition to it was to keep it from being indexed by Google. That means no (well, less) bullshit showing up in the search results.
