Perhaps the spinoff will take place in a more interesting location, the Rockies for example. With 365 days of summer, it's far too easy to survive! ;) And a few wild and hungry animals would make things even more interesting.

Another well-paced episode with some nice dialogue! Poor Carol... Devastated Atlanta leaves quite an impression. But there were no surprises plotwise, and the truck falling off the bridge was rather ridiculous... However, the series needs a goal. Survival, killing a zombie here and there, saving lost group members and running in circles in sunny Georgia is not enough anymore, IMO... The gang will take Beth back, and then, half of season five will almost be over... I hope the writers know what they're doing. A change of scenery - or even better - a real plot twist would improve things very much. I don't know the comics, though. How many seasons are planned? 15? ;)

    "How many seasons are planned?"

As long as it makes money, as usual.

I don't believe it would've landed on all four wheels like it did. Having seen more than a few car accidents where the vehicle fell from an elevated roadway, they almost always land nose first due to the weight of the engine and transmission. An empty van would be even more likely to land that way because the back end is so light.

Even my daughters scoffed at how the landing looked.

Considering the comic book doesn't seem to be going anywhere, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

But...if the van had landed like it would've landed in real life, Carol and Daryl () probably would've been injured worse than they were, slowing down the plot. :walz:

Sorry, but if you are not up to the latest episode of the walking dead there might be a couple of things you do not want to read in this. Or maybe not because the last fewq weeks really have not had much surprising going on.

The first screw up is that we are now watching general hospital for some fucking reason when we could have stretched the cannibal thing. That is just the beginning of this season's shit story writing.

Let us start with spazmatic carol. OK, so she went super carol and pretty much killed off terminus herself. She is aware enough to walk through zombies and people shooting and WOOT she saves everyone. Ok, now they have built carol up to bad ass status. Why would a person that aware go through the door to the skywalk where they left dead in tents not look first before going through? For that matter why would hunter daryl let her do that? You know you left zombies in tents for some unknown reason which was quite obvious they were going to be an issue later because you killed all the other ones. So they get jumped by black kid. Then on top of that the woman who walked all over terminus just a few days ago fully aware of her surroundings runs blindly out into the middle of the road knowing there were people in cars coming for them. Is she aware of her surroundings and what she is doing, or is she a dumb blonde? Really, that was lazy story writing because they built carol up.

Oh, and someone has to force these new writers to watch the first series again. Eugene lying was not a huge twist because we were informed in the CDC episodes that he was alone and just speaking to no one. Now one might get away with saying perhaps the characters did not know it, but it was explained to Carl, Rick, Daryl, Carol, and fucking Glen. Yes, Glen who is not mentally ratarded does not ever tell eugene that he was at the CDC and eugenes plan to hook everything up to some national or worldwide network of whatever might be fucked because it would, of course, have not been said to not be there way back in the first season. Worse off, glen goes with them knowing full well eugene was not aware of the situation at the very least.

Oh, and what is with the priest?

There just better be some of the fucked up shit I was told was going to happen in this final mid season episode. I can understand some crap seasons and all, but this is a huge fall off for this series.

This week's episode was perhaps a little weak because it seems like everything's in a holding pattern, but, ultimately, 2 of the 3 threads progressed (Rick and co. setting up an exchange for Beth & Carol, the priest bailing)...I *am* ready for Abraham to snap the fuck out of it already.

On the other hand, there was a good action sequence (the capture of the cops) and a few nice character moments, so hardly a bad episode.

I think Season 5 is going pretty well so far; I loved the resolution(?) of the Terminus storyline and I like how things are progressing here at midseason.

I *definitely* wouldn't say the show has started to suck. If you want to see the show sucking, re-watch Farmville in Season 2 or the Rick-comes-unglued episodes from Season 3.

Should this not get merged with the actual thread??

While the show doesn't suck, the last few episodes could have been done better. The 'shock' in the final scene where the prisoner tricked Sasha was only a shock because it was so obvious. Iwas sat there thinking, no, they cant build this obvious play up and carry through with it, but no, they did.

Whoa. Just when I started noticing Beth :(

Rick certainly is changing. Not into a badass but an all-round asshole. Good, that's proabably what keeps the group mostly alive. However it's becoming a tad unbelievable how they just murder their way through one fascist little fiefdom after another. Who the hell are those people? Rambo? Like, all of them?

Still a good show. Good to see Michonne finally do something else but stand there and frown. More katana action = more epicness.

    So pissed off.

I follow The Walking Dead on Facebook, and when I checked in last night, they had posted an image that spoiled the end of the episode. I was so mad, I unfollowed them.

I wouldn't get too attached to any of the characters. In the comics, pretty much everyone gets killed at some point.

Your first mistake was even signing up for Facebook.

Your second mistake was what Dickynoo said.

Facebook is great when used properly. But, I've found that you have to go on a media blackout until you've watched all episodes of your shows. Sometimes even news websites will have a spoiler in the title of their article which drives me nuts. So just looking at the home page will spoil you.

    Okay, saw the episode.

Powerful, shocking ending (moreso if it hadn't been spoiled for me :garamet:).

But it did have the things-are-cool-but-bad-guy-demands-something-unreasonable-afterwards scenario, which is certainly a trope and on its way to becoming a cliche.

I agree with what's been said on-line: you know it's a hard episode when Daryl's crying.

I think it was a bit of a shame to kill her to be honest. She was pretty rubbish for the first three series, but started to come into her own after she was stranded with Daryl. She continued to build on that and would have had something to offer the group.

Did the cop kill her by accident or on purpose? Normally I would think it was in self defence, but she almost looked shocked before Daryl capped her. Speaking of which, the speed and non hesitation at which he put that bullet in her head was impressive.

Got to say, that apart from the current inhabitants, the hospital seems to be the most secure place they have found yet.

It's a shame they didn't address it onscreen, but we just have to use that at some point the characters did bring the CDC up and Eugene bullshitted some reason why his plan would still work.

Kirkman has talked about how Darabont included the CDC without telling him beforehand, and Kirkman considered it to be a giant mistake. So after Darabont got the chop they basically ignore it ever happened.

You do know that in the winter the temperature in that part of Georgia drops 40 degrees at night, right? So it's 70 during the day (sweet!) but 30 at night (sucks) for example.
