That could actually be a very cool twist.

I won't hold my breath for it.

Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Alexandria is what I thought it is. I really hope the show deviates from the comics because otherwise we're in for two or three seasons of same shit, different location. (That's assuming the show doesn't get cancelled first because people stop watching.)

The only interesting part of that episode was Daryl, who clearly acted like he didn't fit in. Unless I'm reading too much into it, it's probably a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fact that Daryl doesn't exist in the comics. So there's some hope there, at least, since he's the wild card.

Rick's paranoia makes perfect sense. He's spent at least 2 years out in the open facing incredible horror and tragedy and then Boom! back into everyday life.
I thought this was a great episode and much different than Woodbury. Back then, they were surviving as relative amateurs but still trying to cling to the old life. In Woodbury they would have to fit in and tow the line the Governor imposed. If he let them in at all.
In Alexandria, they are seasoned expert survivors who have accepted that the old life is forever gone. The eerily normal life of the town seems foreign to them. But based on the comments from Carol (who was putting up a line of bullshit on the video) and Rick's, "we'll take it from them", there is a huge reversal going on. Instead of trying to decide if the town is legit enough to stay there and join, they have already decided to stay. The question is do they join or take over. This time, Rick and Co. are possibly the bad guys of this story. But, I have not read the comics...so....

Yeah, Carol slipped all too easily back into the cheerful housewife/PTA mom role. Why does she want the Alexandrians to think she misses her husband or had this perfect life before? Inferiority complex IMO. Daryl's toting around one of those too, but his won't ever let him settle in there. Notice how he said the kids "deserve" a roof over their heads? Implication being, he doesn't.

So why the filming? Sending or providing this information to The Government of which the town leader has ties to as a congress person? :chris:

Carol is playing them with the "Gosh, I was just a housewife" talk and acting like she doesn't know much about guns.

The woman in charge of Alexandria is obviously a democrat. That's troubling. In a zombie apocalypse I think you'd want a republican in charge of your commune for the time being.

    On an unrelated note...

My evil side wanted to see Darryl go gay for Aaron and Eric.

Just to see the internet burst into flames seconds later :D

A gaymance with Darryl is SO not off the table. They have made him suspiciously uninterested in any woman he's spent a lot of alone time with. But once again, I wish they wouldn't make a big deal out of it. As for Carol... yep, becoming my favorite character fast. Michonne still has that honor but since she's so terribly underused...

I have a feeling that the season will end with a jump ahead in time. Something like 'Five years later' or the like. Cramming an existential threat into the last few episodes wouldn't be right. Or the threat is within Alexandria and I just can't see it (picket fences and cocktail parties notwithstanding). I don't think they'll go the evil government route. That'd be stupid if you ask me. What kind of evil would be worse than the shape the world is in at this point? Even a fascist dictatorship seems better than the total anarchy of right now. If there is some power left anywhere it would automatically be used for 'good'. As in getting rid of the undead.

As for season 6 I wish they'd really try and build up to an end. I know the comics are going on and on and on but that won't fly for a TV series. They'll need to find a solution or at least a permanent, safe settlement. Fuck the comic nerds, I want a satisfying ending to the series.

I'm digging the season so far and where the characters are going, specifically Rick, Carol and Michonne. The horrors they have experienced have nearly destroyed them, so of course they have trust issues. I haven't read the comics and don' give two shits about them, I only care about the television show and where they will take the characters.

As for Carol, I'm jonesing for a batch of her cookies!

I'll see that bet and raise you $100.

Agreed. The comics have been going nowhere for years. I think the show maybe has another season or two before it turns really crappy and repetitive (just like the comics).

Probably why they're gearing up with the prequel, so it can be their "Better Call Saul".

Just got Netflix last weekend and started watching The Walking Dead, spent the last 8 days up til dawn watching EVERY episode and it was WORTH IT! Now that I am caught up I am almost sorry I watched it so fast. Now I can only WAIT or go back and watch it over.

i really hope the show has a nice, gory death for that bastard. the deaths in this episode certainly ventured faaaar into torture porn territory. they'll have to top them when the priest finally gets what he deserves.

Definitely feel we're being set up for something with the pretty wife/drunk husband/odd little kid angle. That situation isn't what it appears to be.

And Noah's demise was well-handled. Glen's going to be having nightmares about that for a long time.

That's why I put the disclaimer in my reply. It's just "too perfect" as an abusive husband setup.

Rick will probably kill him and then find out the wife/kid is the psycho. Then we'll get a half season of emo Rick...remember Lori's death?

On "Talking Dead" a viewer said it was "Everybody Ate Chris". It took me a couple of seconds to get the joke.

Ricktatorship 2.0 short circuited by Michonne.

Melissa McBride was announced at the last minute as a surprise guest on Talking Dead. They also announced a "surprise cast member", now that always means someone gonna die.

I think Carol is going to die, announcing her is a trick because they've acknowledged surprise guest is the one who dies.
