Oh, for the love of God. Storm sent a "call to arms" PM to his favorite rep warriors and a couple of us on Staff who are his personal friends. One of the claims he made in it was that any hell gul caught would be ignored by authorities. He also mentioned the same insinuation he would taunt Gul that he knew where he lived and in the meanwhile who knew what a merry band could do? It was a call to rep war...Storm's usual kind of merry hell. And of course we would ignore that...we don't give a shit about rep wars. Apparently in Crosis' mind this means we are all colluding with Storm to torment Gul. Personally, I didn't even see this PM until it all hit the fan already, let alone get a chance to "collude". Also, it has apparently escaped Crosis' notice that Storm lies like a rug and makes all kinds of claims with no basis in reality. Because he recieved this PM and his name was on it, Rosencrantz panicked he would be a part of messing with someone's personal life. He assumes because a couple of our names were on it that the staff was involved...not considering the fact if he got the PM without plotting with Storm against Gul that maybe the rest of the people CC'd didn't either.
Regardless of the intent, Tamar, the fact that it was sent to them meant people knew about it. Listkeeper knew about it. Evenflow knew about it. They, at the very least, should not have taken part in trolling gul in the help desk. Yeah, storm's a liar. But what, am I supposed to know that? Have I ever been a part of any rep war? It never even entered my mind, based on this post, that a "rep war" was his agenda. He said he wanted to punish gul. He said he had gul's personal info. I'm sorry, but when gul comes into the HD saying "People are threatening me with my personal info" and Storm, Bear, and Evenflow all join in on trolling him with that insinuation, what in the blue hell am I supposed to think? I don't troll. I don't play games like that. And when an insinuation about such things is out there, it ought to be nipped in the bud. We shouldn't just say, "Aw, shucks, Storm's just bein' storm." But since now we've come out and pretty much spelled everything out, maybe I can be allowed to just post the bloody thing so people don't have to just rely on our hearsay.

You can laugh and make merriment all you want to attempt to make light of this. But you're still a mod. Chaos, Scorponok, Ramen, and the rest are just normal posters. You, however, are supposed to bear at least a modicum of responsibility. Instead you conducted yourself as the most base of posters, and now expect to have it swept aside because gul accused you. As if you weren't also accusing him right back. As a mod, you had a duty to say to Storm "Hey, this isn't allowed, don't do this." Obviously, as Storm's now banned, it was wrong to do. But you went with it merrily, because you don't like gul.
Actually, I'd advise against that unless he wants to be banned. You know, those pesky rules about posting PMs...
And I'm not going to post it, until I'm told it's ok. But considering the ramifications inherent therein, I think the community ought to be made aware of it at SOME point.
You wouldn't have gotten that PM unless you trolled and repped warred with Storm in the past. I didn't freak out when I read it because I had no reason to believe Storm had the information he claimed to. People make baseless threats like this here all the time. Hell, I've made that threat or claimed to know stuff I don't while trolling someone before. I didn't think anything of it until things blew way out of proportion over the weekend...and I was here very little over the weekend because of Father's Day, as you know because I told you in our PMs Crosis.
Honestly, I think he sent it to me cause I flamed CM so hard at TK I've never rep warred, and I'm not a troll. I think my reputation speaks for itself in that regard. After CM, it shoulda raised some red flag though, don't you see what I'm saying? It at the very least shouldn't be encouraged. I am not saying you did, so far as I know you didn't, but after CM shouldn't this sort of thing be completely out of bounds, just to avoid a situation like this? Yeah, but you only responded to my PM after you'd been posting here. Why do you think I made that post, Tamar? I PMed you because I was concerned, I wanted no part of this. When I came back HOURS after I PMed you and saw that you'd been posting, even in this thread I think, and hadn't replied to me, what was I supposed to think?
I disagree! If someone's doing something they are gonna be banned for, it seems beyond stupid to say "Well, such-and-such mod isn't the mod HERE, so he should be allowed to even jump in on it!"

OK...I've not been involved with this...beyond watching WF burn, which is quite amusing, but I gotta make an observation. You were given permission to read PMs between two people by only one of those two people, ie the recipient gave you permission, and the sender had no say in the matter. You went beyond what you were asking for permission to read the PMs to accomplish. You banned ban evaders, and leakers, and more than likely took note of other things you didn't actively act on. Now you are saying one side of a PM conversation can't give the rest of the board the same permission they gave you, to read a PM. I don't think you realise the destruction you've done to your credibility Elwood. Now that you've used PMs as the grounds for your first "Night of the long knives", it'll be that much easier for you to justify doing it the next time you claim to have need to do it...or even doing it without anyone knowing. Also, don't bother telling me you don't know how, I don't know how to do a lot of things, if I want to know, it's easy enough to learn. I would hazard to say most people will not fully trust the administration here from now on. Do people have an absolute right to privacy here...no. Do they have a reasonable expectation, yes.
What part of "this drama ends right here and right now" do some of you not understand? I now know who is intentionally stirring the pot on both sides of this fiasco and I'm dealing with them accordingly. Take a goddamned look at what we've become. I've stayed out of this mess until I felt like I just has to act hoping, praying, that y'all would work it out yourselves. Well, you didn't and I'm putting an end to it. It's ugly, yeah. I hate it. It could get uglier still. The only other option is to let this board continue to spiral out of control to the point where I just say "fuck it" and shut it all down or hand it off to someone else. I don't want that to happen, but this has gone on in one incarnation or another for damn near six weeks. That's long enough. End it. Get over it. Deal with it. I don't care. This is over.

A) Did the mods read the PM before the shit started to fly? B) Did any of them think Storm was planning anything other than a rep war? C) Did Storm actually threaten to release Gul's name and where he works? D) Did they take him seriously? It's just more of Storm's deceitfulness. Edit: Chaos Descending and BearTM are not mods.
