Oh great example. I use my real name and I state where I live in the profile.

BUT, Thea has made no such proclamations.

No need to at the moment. I made a ton of money during the market crash short selling financial stocks so Im set for many years. I waited until now so I could get the health insurance from work.

Well, if she's really and truly offended then I'm really sorry.

But it really isn't anything that hasn't been done before without any comment at all and for both purposes...to illustrate possible duals and to defend against accusations of them.

No, he's right on track with the bullshit. The average joe would have a hard time working a short sell racket. If he had dough like that, why would he be working? So I pretty much know its all crap.

Why not try this thread Rockefeller?

    http://www.trollkingdom.net/forum/showthread.php?t=124405

A poor person isnt going to toss $40,000 into restoring a car. Heck, people with decent incomes dont even do that. Oh well if it makes you feel better, rant away.

The point isn't that you did it. That's fine, you've done it before and I haven't had a problem with it. It's the fact that here we have someone who could very well be a new member, and when they were offended by what you did, you laughed at them.
This is exactly the opposite of what you should be doing. Yes it's the red room, no it's not ok for a moderator to upset the first new member we've had all year.

Nothing there proves $40,000 was spent on the car.

Heck, I like Starguard's ride better in that thread.

I dunno...it's questionable maybe? It's a picture of another public profile of a handle..is that really private? I'm not sure it's been considered private before unless it was like Facebook or MySpace or somewhere where the ID used was a real name....I think I better leave this to Lanzman to decide on.

Edit: Plus, Eightball reposted it himself in a quote above as well. That kind of muddies it a bit too.

    1. I'm pretty sure TK profiles are only visible to members. Not really "public."
    2. Kirk once served a ban for revealing a new members employer when they hadn't revealed it themselves on WF, despite that information being common knowledge over at TrekBBS.

Well, you started right out by admitting he was your dual (the term you used was "friend" and we all know what that means...). That's why we negrepped him out of existence.

I think everyone can see that there was a breach here. By two people. I guess we have to just wait and see what happens....if anything.

We know this was a DST. But some folks are just too deep into this board life. :jayzus:

Isn't there some kind of line in the rules about how duals, while not forbidden, will be outed for fun and for profit?

Yes. However, the IP address is only a partial match for another member, which could mean everything from two different people using the same ISP, or one person using utilizing a connection that offers a dynamic IP address (like DSL). In other words, it's not conclusive.

maybe she has a friend here but doesn't want the connection to be public. Like roommates or living in the same building.

it doesn't really matter to me till they actually do something dual-ish.
