I have a friend who has sarcoidosis and it was a later in life onset. She said she had it and suffered from it from birth.

So her pre-existing condition existed before the onset? So how is she paying for her healthcare if she couldn't get insurance?

On the other hand, my wife had MS at least ten years before she was diagnosed with it, yet our insurance didn't consider it pre-existing. Weird.

Sorry I wasn't clear. My friend had it later in life. The professor in this video claims she had it since birth.

I know a little about sarcoidosis. You can have a genetic predisposition for it, but it is triggered by something to be come active.

Ah. Well, my wife's MS is pretty aggressive. I might be able figure out a way to afford Copaxone or Avonex without insurance, but we already tried those, and the only thing that keeps it in check is Tysabri...and there's no way I could afford that. Of course, she has relapsing/remitting MS, so not having insurance wouldn't kill her directly. It would just make her a non-verbal, drooling invalid (which she was for an 8 month stretch around fifteen years ago).

ETA, and anyone wondering why I have a soft spot for Apostle, he offered to help me out a lot during that time. I had family come in from two states to help or I would have taken him up on it, but I appreciated it a lot. /Blue Room Post

But why should I have to contribute a few measly bucks out of my paycheck every week so that sick people can have decent health care? That's my money! I earned it! I didn't go to school, use roads, or take advantage of any public service. I was born a hard worker! Welfare queens! MAGA!

I mean Trump keeps saying he can protect pre-existing condition coverage without Obamacare. He just hasn't said how he'll do it yet for reasons. I guess we have to re-elect him to see it?

Trump is a symptom (like a zit, or a genital wart) of a larger problem in American society. Selfishness. Zero social awareness. Pathological individualism.

    Qanon pedogate guys are pedophiles?

That's the least surprising thing I've heard all week.

Pre-existing conditions mean different things to a doctor and to an insurance company.

It also depends on the condition.

If you've been diagnosed and have no symptoms, that may not be a pre-existing condition for insurance. It really depends on if they expect to have to pay. Some can have a disease, but never experience symptoms and never need medical treatment for that condition.

However, some conditions in which the insurance company knows they will have to pay, but haven't collected enough money - and then some - to offset what they know will have to pay out, they deny coverage. For example, I'd heard of more than one situation, pre-ACA, in which a couple were living together or just dating, woman gets pregnant, they decide to marry, his insurance doesn't cover her pregnancy. In most cases, insurance did cover it. But, there were some that did not.

It all boils down to whether or not the insurance company can make a profit. This is why a UHC is the only option.

As someone who's suffered from a life-threatening condition from birth and has been exceptionally snarky to anyone who suggested that your attitude toward others' having the same health care you had, you're one to talk. If you were truly interested in her condition, you'd contact her and ask her. Instead, you're just grandstanding as usual.

Meanwhile, I know you're allergic to science, but here's the science of sarcoidosis. It goes a little beyond "I had a friend who has it": https://www.webmd.com/lung/arthritis-sarcoidosis

if it is the standard farm variety fence with no modifications to the output it should not do anything but give them a slight jolt that would discourage them. I have been on farms before and touched the electric fence when I was a kid. It is not the end of the world, and let us not blow things out of proportion. As long as he has not run more current through it through modifications things should be fine.

Also, as for the dog it should be on a leash, so I blame the owner in that case. One of the reasons you leash your dog is to keep your dog safe.

As for children, they might fuck with it, but as long as the warning is there it is their fault. Same thing when I was a kid. There was a sign that said electric fence. I knew it was there and how to avoid it. I was not the dumb fuck who peed on it. I was actually shown at camp how to test the electric fence with a blade of grass so you do not get full shock. Yup, back in my day we actually were taught how to play with an electric fence by our camp counselors. Could you imagine what the parents today would do if that happened?

I don't know ..., I grew up around electric fences as well. But, that was on a farm. I'd be all kinds of pissed off if my suburban neighbor put one up in the yard next door to my house.
