They should trust a trained professional to do his or her job the way they see fit and stay off their backs.

 

Contrast this situation to the recent incident at the U. of Connecticut, where the drunk 19 y/o accosted the food court staff because they wouldn't serve him the bacon/jalepeno mac & cheese. This little punk was drunk, carrying on open container and belligerent. He was taken down by the cops, arrested, and then suspended or expelled from the school. I didn't hear any pussy police chief talking about how video of the incident made him want to throw up.

The cop, or his union on his behalf, needs to sue the city for wrongful termination. Lawsuits are the only things these cabbage-mouthed bureaucrats understand.

 

First, I would call the parents and tell them to come get their kid. I don't believe it's right to take someone's phone. Everybody has cell phones, it's unenforceable to ban cell phones. I agree that you shouldn't be allowed to use them in class. If I were the teacher I would probably make a rule that if a cell phone is seen, you get one warning and only one. Next time, you automatically fail the class. High school teachers probably can't do that, but in college they don't put up with that shit. If calling the parents doesn't work, I agree, someone with authority should remove her. I take issue with the removal process. Then once she's removed, I don't think she should be arrested, but suspended instead.

I'm tired of the cop mentality these days. I had no issue with Darron Wilson or the other cops that defended themselves. I do have issues with how they treat everyone as a suspect and with no dignity. The girl had a cell phone out, it's not like she was planting a bomb. Ever since 9/11 though, the police have become more brutal and more militarized. They are no longer your friendly neighborly Andy Griffith type. Their more like the Judge Dredd or Robocop. They don't give a fuck about people. I don't want to rant anymore. I think the cop was an asshole who reacted poorly to the situation.

 

I'm looking forward to this coming spring, when school police will start beating and pepper spraying teenage girls for dress code violations like wearing yoga pants. 'Murica!

1) Teachers and instructors of any kind DO NOT MAKE the rules.
2) It is against the rules at EVERY LEVEL I know of to use grades as part of discipline.
3) You keep saying "call the parents"?!!! Do you know how foolish that sounds? What makes you think this kid has any parents? I worked for four years at a regular middle class school and IIRC only about half had "parents" and not "guardians" who seldom have the same level of control or interest in control as parents do.

4) Once again what would you suggest as the "removal process"? I assume you would prefer it is something that doesn't disrupt and ruin the entire class period.

Imagine if it were my parent's kid? They would have never given me a cell phone at that age, and they sure as fuck would not be siding with me if a cop had to pull me out of a chair in class. They would be asking the cop why he didn't taze my ass and giving him baton lessons for the next time. They also would have probably tipped the teacher and given them their cell number so they can help in the beating the next time.

Imagine if it were my kid? Well, first I would watch the video with them and ask them just what in fucking hell they thought they were doing. Then I would take my cell phone and any other technology like a computer, tab, laptop, television, radio, walkman, or alarm clock with AM FM from her possession. I might leave her with a ballpoint pen. Then i would remove any and all toys from her room, install a metal door with a good dead bolt, and some bars on the windows. Then I would shuffle down to walmart and replace any clothing the child had with walmart school uniforms. So the grounding would start there, and end either in a year or whenever I stopped hearing people around town ask if that was my kid on youtube.

Then the beating would come. The beating would be painful enough so that the teacher and school would no longer have to have the police officer come to drag her ass out of her seat, they would just have to call me at work so that she would recognize the voice of discipline and remove herself from her chair quickly while begging for mercy from her creator. If all of that did not work there are discipline camps which will train her like the animal she is through daily beatings, starvation, and physical activity.

I do not know where parents are these days, but to get on national TV and show everyone how my piss poor parenting failed to raise her properly I would not make such a mistake again. You get nice parent until you have the cops have to get your disobedient ass out of your seat because i accidentally made the mistake of trusting you with a cell phone, and then we try a new method.

Of course, all that probably does not work well, and this is the reason I do not have children. If i am going to end up on youtube being tossed around by a cop because I was drunk and disorderly that is my business and I get to pay for it. I am sure as fuck am not stopping my life of drinking and debauchery so I can pay for my child my child to on youtube instead of me.

Dinner has it right. That girl does not have the right to deprive the kids who want to learn an education. It's the "me" generation taken to hyper level. And the way the political winds blow these days (and social media & the internet) the only way as an authority figure to not lose your job is to let minority kids do whatever they want. If they didn't comply and the cops came, 90 percent of those 50 percent remaining would comply. So "Miss Priss" is the tiny fraction who would not comply no matter what. And she should be treated with kid gloves why exactly? Look, there is a time and a place to "fight the power" and many have sacrificed much trying to fight real injustice. But a kid who won't listen to her teacher/the cops is not the second coming of MLK or Ghandi or Malcolm X or Jesus or anyone else who actually had something to offer in making the world a better place. This is not just minority kids. Just because the media focussed in on one of them does not mean the white one's are not the biggest problem. Your white parents are the bane of the teachers trying to keep cell phones silent because they feel their kids need to have a phone so they can call them up whenever. No administrator is going to side with black parents who want their kids to have cellphones, but when the white parents scream because a teacher took their precious child's Iphone away the administration starts firing and suspending teachers, and you learn fast to never question the kids when the admin and the parents side with them. Then it becomes a racial thing if you try to enforce on the poor children while allowing the other kids to get away with it.

The main problem is parents who want discipline in class, but do not want their child to be disciplined because their children are never bad. It is not that the teachers are all lazy, but they have been taught that to take the cell phones away, or to make a kid feel bad is going to get them written up and disciplined. Why would you ever bother disciplining a child when you know the principle is going to get pissed at you for sending disruptive kids to the office so that the administration has to do something. Then you might be risking a physical altercation with some of these kids who belong in special ed because they snap and start throwing things around class. Have you seen some of these high school kids? You need to be a cop to argue with them, and the school is going to blame you for not controlling the kid they know has violence issues.

Then you have the admin stacking the desk for certain teachers. your highest ranking teacher with the best graded students last year gets first choice for the students in their class this year. Who do you think the good teachers pick? They pick the cream of the crop kids and you could be a complete failure when picking out the best of the school because those kids will find a way to learn no matter how bad you suck. If you are lkow man on the totem pole you always get the bad ones and you would have to get lucky to move on up. You are not going to bother to teach a restless bunch of disruptive kids with violence issues. You are going to be their friend, cheat for them, and pass them off onto the next low man while you move up. What is thew purpose of trying to help them when no one is going to help you, and everything new you do will get pissed on by an administration who wants you to do things how the people with the best class does it.

Our schools are a joke, and it comes from the side that wants to stupify the kids to indoctrinate them into religion, and the side who wants to higher high priced no experience administrators and psychology consultants who have never had to teach a single child in their life because they have never stepped into a classroom as a teacher. This is all as per the par4ents who all want decorations and status symbols rather than a child.

Other students had laptops because they were most likely school-issued laptops. In case you hadn't noticed, many school systems are now giving students laptops in an effort to transition everything to an online experience. My oldest in 9th grade was given a Chromebook this year.

And she wasn't "assaulted." When police use justifiable force to bring a subject into compliance, it isn't "assault." So you can take your #blacklivesmatter spindoctoring and shove it up your child-rape loving ass.

 

So the bottom line is this: no matter what race you are, what economic class, what religion, etc. either your kid has their shit together or they don't. This kid didn't have her shit together. It's not rocket science. It's a hard pill to swallow for some, I know.

 

It has gone far beyond the idea that a lack of parents is the answer. We have spent way to long in the area of single and poor parents who did not have the skills to prepare the new generation of parents with the skills needed to get their kids ready for life. On top of that our schools have been ravaged in poor areas, and even up through middle class classrooms which used to give a chance to kids who had less educated parents. How can a parent help their kids and teach them when they cannot add or type in a semi-professional matter. We can call it ebonics, but it is not just black anymore. It is fucking ghetto. There are white trash rednecks who talk like Larry the cable guy and get mad at their children for learning about science. There are hispanics who speak spanglish at best whos kids have to decide between sounding like the people in their family, or learning both languages well so they can perform a job that can deal with both sides. Then because of the right wing on both sides they are put down by spanish and 'murican conservatives for speaking spanish or english well.

The foster care thing is problematic to a much further extent due to our prison industrial complex which has started taking white men and women's kids and freedom for smoking a joint or having a little bit of pot in their house without their knowledge. It is not like the foster care system needs to be this big when we are destroying families for non-criminal issues. The news like to focus on black kids, but there are plenty of disturbed white kids who have problems that arise from shitty parenting, and when we look at one of the biggest reasons for child neglect and abuse it is cults, and I am not talking about your smaller ones. Fucking mormons and seventh day adventists are notorious for treating their kids like shit and ignoring them for jesus. You can find it running rampant in baptist churches where Mike Huckabees are tolerated. The Catholic church may be making some headway, but they are huge in the child molesting and neglect areas. Born again christians should not only be born again, but every single one of them is a miserable fuck who hurts people and now walks around with a jesus badge they think is a license to abuse. God is the white people's way to ignore their children and raise them stupid. The only white people worse than the religious are the meth lab people.

White people need to start understanding this is no longer a black problem, if it ever was in the first place.
