Good thing there are police in schools now, so no one can hurt the kids. :borg:

I want you all to imagine that you're trying to manage a class full of asshole kids. One girl is being disruptive, breaking the rules. You give her a warning, but she persists. You then ask her to leave the classroom, but she refuses. So you call the cop. The cop asks her to leave or be arrested. She just sits there like the little cunt that she is, and continues to play on her phone. The cop attempts to physically remove her from the classroom, she resists, and that's why the desk falls over.

Ya, it's unfortunate that it escalated like that, it's unfortunate that we have a video of only the arrest and not the lead-up, but I'm at a loss for how things could have gone differently. It's her own damn fault for not following the rules, disobeying police orders, and resisting arrest.

I saw the response, "Imagine if it were your kid."
Well, I don't imagine my kid being that much of a cunt. Period.

I get where you are coming from but, as usual (as you know), the right wing talking point doesn't hold up to scrutiny as the reason police use aggressive tactics is often because they fear a suspect is armed. The right wing gun mania makes everything worse.

What do you think disrupted the class more, her looking at her phone, or the cop assaulting her? :brood:
It's absurdist bullshit that a cop was ever called to deal with the matter of a teenager that looked at her phone during class. This was not a criminal matter, at least not until the cop chose to assault a student. That you accept calling in the police as a reasonable escalation on the part of the teacher is ridiculous. Where do you draw the line? "It's unfortunate the little Billy got tasered, but it's his own fucking fault for not eating his vegetables!"

The student kept using the cell phone after being told by the teacher to out it away. The teacher then told the student to go to the office. The student refused. An administrator told the student to come with them to the office. The student refused.

The cop then gave the child a lawful order. The child refused, and apparently attacked the cop.

The cop had no fucking business walking into a classroom and giving orders to children. Police are stationed in schools to protect the children, not to act as enforcers for teachers that can't command the respect of their students.

If she was in trouble for being on her phone, the level of force used here was out of line.

I'm curious why she was in trouble for being on her phone, because another student seemed to have his laptop out.

They are there to enforce the law and apparently that state has a law against willfully disrupting a classroom because the problem is so endemic.

Moral hazard. Let that girl do whatever she wants, and what kind of message does that send to the other children about following the rules? How does that contribute to a safe and disciplined environment where students can learn?

Seriously, try to manage a classroom of teenagers and then get back to me.

At a minimum, teachers need to be able to remove problematic students from a classroom, otherwise they're doing disservice to the other students who do want to learn. If a student refuses to go, forced removal by the police is a last resort, but I don't think it's inappropriate.

And if @14thDoctor thinks that "commanding respect" (whatever exactly that means) solves all classroom management problems, he's just showing his naivete. Yes, teachers should try to establish a good rapport and manage students with positive incentives. But when push comes to shove, punishment is in order. All the cop wanted her to do was leave the classroom. The violence happened because she resisted. Her own fault.

I had a student that did exactly what they claimed she was doing once.

I picked up the desk with her in it and put it out in the hall and locked her out.

Didn't put a hand on her. Wasn't easy to pick up her and the desk combined but I bent my knees and used good lifting techniques.

What are you so upset about tonight? Generally you're simply a wordforge non entity. About as relevant to discussion as Ed629s constant negative repping or Chardman (I'm a cripple so I read alot) pointless "Die In A Fire" and other things he posts.

Telling you to die in a fire, or laughing even harder at your laughable beliefs, is relevant to almost any discussion you're involved with, as you regularly demonstrate that you're a horrible person, who really should die in a fire, and/or beliefs that warrant being laughed at.

And tell me... how relevant to the thread topic is your mentioning my disability, or that I read a lot?

I would like to see the whole video. Sorry, but if that were my kid I would ask my kid why they didn't put the fucking phone away when the teacher said to. Then I would ask why they didn't cooperate with the cop. Yes, I raised two teens, they can be little dicks. But if they keep pushing the envelope, they face the consequences. I'm not saying kids won't act up, or "act out" as they say these days. But when you are busted, you are busted. Stop what the fuck you are doing! If you don't think it's fair, tell another adult you can trust - but in the meanwhile shut the fuck up and do what the teacher says.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Yeah, the kid was being an idiot, but there had to have been other ways to handle it. If the cop was strong enough to flip the chair, with her in it, on it's back, surely he could have just dragged the chair, with her in it, out of the classroom. I also agree that if you're going to have LEOs at school, they don't need to be doing the administrator's disciplinary jobs for them. The cop was doing what he was trained to do.

He didn't really flip the chair as much as it flipped on it's own when he dragged the girl out of the chair. In other words he didn't grab the chair and flip it. He grabbed the girl and in the process of that the chair flipped over.

As for dragging her and the chair into the hallway, sounds like a good idea but then what? You've got her in the hallway and she's still refusing to cooperate? At what point does it become acceptable for the officer to use force? Remember this girl blew off her teacher, and an administrator. They called the cop in. The cop didn't come into the classroom on his own. The cop gave her a legal order to get up and leave the classroom. She blew the cop off.

At some point we have to start having rules again and not letting students think they run shit. Fuck the students and the parents who act like this girl did in the classroom. If the teacher tells you to put something away you fucking do it.

And fuck this Sheriff for throwing his officer under the bus before the investigation even got going. FBI and DOJ? For what? Are we going to call them for everything? It's clear that this Sheriff in a attempt to please the race industry out there has already decided to fire the officer. He's just waiting so it looks like it is a legit firing.

Go away for a while and come back and it's nice to see 14th Doc is still clueless about life.

We are reaching a point where we are going to have regular anarchy in classrooms because teachers hands have been tied so tightly behind their backs they are unable to do anything even "command respect" as 14th Doc thinks they should.

We have rules but then when the kids are called on their behavior everyone instead flips out on the teacher/administrator/school/police. I can not remember the last time the blame was squarely put on the kids shoulder which is almost always where it belongs.

If you let kids get away with breaking a rule they are going to do it. All the time and all the rules.

And this student refused to go. Refused when the teacher ordered her go. Refused when the administrator told her to go. Refused when the officer told her to go. 14th doc must think that the officer at that point should have said, "okay then..... have a nice day" and walked out.

They were using Chrome Notebooks to do classwork. This girl decided she didn't want to do schoolwork. Her phone was more important.
