This is where the fundamental disagreement is, then. Most of us recognize that we live in a society and have to work together to make society better, while at the same time actually caring about our fellow human beings. Whereas you're the fucking Tin Man.

Yeah no shit. I'm talking about being forced to choose between two absolutely necessary goods/services because someone cannot pay for them.

Whatever you say comrade, go for it.

No, asshole. I'm not looking to profit from this, imprison people, or create an indentured workforce for someone to exploit.

    Rated BY actual usage.

I'd just love to see the explosion when your AIR tax hits the media.

Not what I said Baldy. WTO has a thing about tariffs - which any charge to the exporter for usage fees for American transportation would definitely be attributed to.

It just does a shitty job of doing it when there isn't a $$$ at the end of it. Which would big pharma rather do - sell you an ongoing treatment for 40 years, or cure you?

That's not a usage fee - you have to attribute to how much of it benefits the individual. Otherwise you'd have this incredible injustice like you are implementing this system to stop, where there isn't a direct correlation between cost and benefit. Why should the middle class pay for wars that help profit corporations overseas for example?

    TLDR. :D

Once again, I'm right in the middle. It's all you far right whackos that have limited acquainticeships not to understand how far out they are.

Military can't be accounted for like that. Neither can the police or fire departments. You take the cost of maintaining your standing force, and divide it equally among the taxpayers, because their amount of benefit is equal in this case.

You might not want to assume I'd wage overseas wars.

    :rotfl:

No, you lying fuckstick. I'd let people leave whenever they wanted, if they choose to forfeit the help. This is my solution for people who can't support themselves while shouldering an equal burden for the costly protections society offers.

Not proven at all. Not all people benefit equally from military actions - for example when we invaded countries in the late 19th and early 20th century to benefit fruit corporations.

We aren't talking about UA fantasy land. We are talking what this system would mean if it were actually adopted.

Otherwise you are just masterbating in public.

I score in the middle on every politics test out there, Baldy. The fact that you are an extremist -note that almost no one shares your views in any political polling conducted - doesn't change the fact that I am a moderate. It underscores how extreme your views are.

Because you're filling in the gaps with your own assumptions, no doubt. Nowhere did I say I'd be breaking up families or sending everyone to work in the same sawmill or something.

Oh, and write the Chancellor at UAB a note demanding a Thank You card.

$0.50 of every $1.00 the State spends is on Education. This year, UAB alone got $253 million of the Education Trust Fund Budget. ALDOT got about half that and $25 million of what they did get goes to the Administrative Office of the Court (AOC).

That explains the new chemistry labs and the lavish recreation center.

All wasted, IMO. There's no need for any of it. The old labs were fine and a rec center doesn't have to have intricate tile patterns and curved pools.

When that kind of spending happened at my last college, I also got angry. Every $500 spent on a big screen TV is $500 that could have gone somewhere else.

The only violence I see in that video is coming from cops beating on the protesters and pepper spraying them, which they started doing last week as well.

Also, around 35 seconds in, I'm pretty sure I see a cop that looks like George Costanza! :soma:

Dirty, smelly, litter bugs (I bet the trash around the protests is horrendous), obnoxious, and of course violent.

Check out this take on the Wall Street protestors.

Anyway, yesterday on the radio I heard some kid saying he owed 70G on student loans and can't get a job to pay it back, etc. etc.

So - you make life miserable for the folks that did make good career decisions?

The American Dream is to be white and exploit minorities by paying them to hold signs they can't read and don't understand, all to give a false impression of an anti-capitalist protest masquerading as a spontaneous grassroots movement?

Here's what the Mayor put up on his blog yesterday:

    Update on Occupy Seattle
October 6, 7:18 PM Click Here To Comment > 48

I want to give the public an update on how my staff and City departments are working to accommodate the Occupy Seattle protests at Westlake Park.

We understand that Occupy Seattle wishes to have a sustained presence in Westlake Park for the purpose of expressing their views. From the outset we have been trying to work out a solution that meets the city’s needs and Occupy Seattle’s need to protest against wealth inequality in our country.

My staff has been reaching out to and communicating with members of Occupy Seattle. Here’s how we are proceeding:

We are providing a permit for protest activities at Westlake Park which will allow them to have an organizing tent that can remain overnight. As a condition of the permit, protestors will have to allow for cleaning of the park, protect park property, accommodate the other existing permitted events, and protect access to businesses.

We are making City Hall Plaza available for those that wish to stay overnight, with reasonable restrictions on the tents so as to allow free use of the plaza during the day. Unlike Westlake, City Hall also has restroom facilities available. Both the permit and the ability to set up tents at City Hall Plaza would last for two weeks, at which point we can assess whether the arrangement is meeting everyone’s needs and should be extended.

These are extraordinary times. We have seen the Occupy Wall Street movement take off in cities across the country, and there’s a reason for it. There is real anger about the unprecedented concentration of wealth and power in this country and the inequality it has produced. I share the values and the message of the Occupy Wall Street movement. We want to provide the opportunity for the people of Seattle to express their views. And we are.

BTW protestors - all bets are off once you jump a barricade - you pretty much swim at your own risk police-wise.
