An off year? Oklahoma lost its starting quarterback and the most prolific running back in the nation and still managed to win eight games after that. That's not an off year.
Which begs the question what would have happened if they hadn't lost their starting QB and a great RB, doesn't it? And in general, three loses for Oklahoma, including losing a bowl game to a WAC team, isn't considered a strong showing. Stoops might have had his best coaching year this season, but overall OU didn't finish in the top 10.
I hate that, what you just said is bullshit. OU lost 3 games plain and simple. If they hadn't been playing such a close game in the first place then they would have still won. The refs made a call and we all have to live with it when the game ends. There is no "should of," there is only what happened. There will always be random occurances in sports and that is why they are fun to watch and play. I love the fact that you can't truely predict what is gonna happen or who is gonna win. Who would have guessed Tony Romo would have botched a hold on a game winning field goal? But even though that happened you'll never hear me saying "Dallas should have won" because we didn't. Accept your losses and move on.
I'm a bit late to the party but kudos to Urban Meyer and his staff for absolutely outcoaching Tressel and his boys. At times I was wondering if there was anything on that sheet Tressel kept looking at. He was probably in utter disbelief. Memo to the Big Ten: Rearrange your schedule to finish in December, stop recruiting big slow players, and have a conference championship.
