They just fired the scientist that says neutrinos go faster than light, thus messing up a lot of great time travel stories. If they go faster, time tends to run backward. But, they found out they only run as fast as.

One Vulcan is not a representative sampling of the species, you're over thinking it. Is Ted Kaczynski or Ted Bundy representative of the human species?

    One could make that argument.

I don't see how Old Spock could repair the timeline. There's nothing he can do in this universe to stop sending the Nerada back to the 23rd century.

Of course there is. He's Spock! At minimum, he can go back in time and put a whole bunch of antimatter bombs at the location he knows Nero is going to appear. If I can think of something, he certainly can.

Just thought of something...from Picard's point of view, Spock is as dead as Kirk was supposed to be when Kirk was sucked into the Nexus.

Wonder if that's had lasting repercussions, or if everyone was like "....eh, he had a damn good run.".

In All Good Things and Star Trek Online, Picard goes on to become an ambassador. Being close with Spock, I'd speculate that Ambassador Picard would pick up Spocks reunification mantle and lead the charge to render aid to the decimated Romulan empire.

Jesus. Anywhere else and I'd get mocked for that bid of nerdyness. :vulcan:

But Picard in the future has Irimodic syndrome.

(yep, I'm a Trek nerd too!) :vulcan:

Maybe. Just like maybe he becomes an ambassador. We've only seen possible futures, and the ones we've seen were wiped out in the "main" timeline by changes that happened in the episode. Could be that he retained some memory from his future self and got Crusher to work on a cure earlier.

    Re: Star Trek Secret Revealed!!!

Old Spock doesn't have to worry about altering the future... and he can give forewarning about Khan, the Doomsday Machine, the things that killed Kirk's brother, etc. without causing problems.

Timelines don't cease to exist. If it had, Old Spock would have ceased to exist. He just can't get back to his original using the technology available.

I was referencing a line from "Yesterday's Enterprise." As for people being effectively transported out of their timeline and continuing to exist, that'd be a paradox, and there are entire stories based around that concept, and many arguments about whether something like that could even happen or not. Plus, it's Star Trek, so, you know, quantum.

Actually, the comics served as the final look at the TNG characters - at least for now. Personally I thought that it was very well done and that it resolved all the outstanding issues with the movie. I'd preferred to have seen it done on the screen, but we simply weren't going to get that.

Some new details about the film have leaked out. Apparently, they're going to model much of it closely off what happened in TWoK, including having Kirk encountering the off-spring of one of his numerous one night stands. The title's also been leaked: Star Trek: Children of the Gorn :baba:

Hmm, now this is interesting. According to Simon Pegg, Benedict Cumberbatch is NOT Khan! Khan isn't even in the movie. He claims it's all BS, and that the villain is going to be "not just another disgruntled alien".

If true, this is definitely good news.

    Interesting.

We've seen Cumberbatch in a Starfleet uniform and he looks very human and not very Khan-like, so I'm inclined to believe Simon Pegg.

IF they ever recycle a previously used plot, I still want to see WNMHGB done on the big screen.

it could very easily be EPIC

Ehh, I don't see that holding up for a feature-length movie. Parts of the plot and story are now very kitschy (especially the whole ESP thing).

To an extent, but no one says it has to be note-for-note either.

the biggest problem with it, IMO, is the whole "barrier at the edge of the galaxy" thing. Because you can't presume a new-time line changes THAT and yu have to have a triggering event.

On the other hand, people who think you can see Vulcan bigger than a moon in the sky of a whole other planet and that planet NOT be destroyed when Vulcan was....probably don't blink at "The Great Barrier" as a plot device.

As for the way the plot itself develops, that I would think, would be predicated almost entirely on the strength of the actor who had the part. Take a guy with the skills of, say, a Heath Ledger (i.e. the ability to play a loveable good guy AND a psycho in the same film) and a whole lot of the telekinesis type stuff can be quite creepy and dramatic.

Abrams likes to keep a pretty tight lid on things, so it wouldn't surprise me if this Khan business was intentional misdirection on his part just to throw people off track.

^Harve Bennett used to use the old "tinfoil in the radar" trick, too. During the shooting of The Search for Spock, he went so far as to have the actor playing "Vulcan" listed as "Frank Force" on the daily shooting schedules, because he knew they'd be leaked.

The idea of a skinny Brit playing an Asian superman seems improbable.

Finnigan was actually my tongue-in-cheek prediction of the antagonist for the first movie. So maybe I was just jumping the gun.

Simon Pegg just came out and said explicitly that Khan was not in the film.

So no idea who the big baddie is, but I like the actor they got to play him.

Might be an honest to goodness new character! LOL.
