This really does look awesome. Just think about it, people who actually give a shit about Star Wars getting to make Star Wars movies (fuck you, George Lucas). As for the plot, we already know it -- a band of misfits tasked with stealing the plans to the Death Star. Yes, we know they succeed. But that doesn't bother me in iota. We don't know how it was done, and it's the journey that will be providing the action and entertainment. For those douches complaining that the movie will suck because they know the outcome, I suggest they avoid seeing any movie in the future that is a biography or based on an historical event. Besides, who would want to go see a movie about WWII, we already know how it ended! It will totally suck!!!
Don't mind a female protagonist, but as well as MRAs I can see a few gamer nerds getting pissed off that this retcons Star Wars: Dark Forces, where the tutorial mission has you (as Kyle Katarn, later to return in the sequel games as a Jedi Knight) stealing the plans.
Most heist movies the viewer knows the outcome. Yet it's the journey not the destination that's interesting.
Disney did well to not try to out-Vader Vader with Kylo Ren, whatever you may think of the result. I don't want to see Disney try to out-Palpatine Palpatine either. Especially not with a thing called "Snoke".
It's looking like Alden Ehrenreich is closing in on being the young Han Solo. http://www.superherohype.com/news/3...=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=new-han-solo
Biggest thing I learned from that article iis that Chewbacca wasn't really played by Peter Mayhew in The Force Awakens. I suppose that makes sense, but
I kind of figured, as the times I've seen Peter Mayhew, he looked like he couldn't walk without crutches.
Yeah, I did wonder about how he pulled it off, considering Ford didn't look to nimble. The stand-in is five inches shorter, though! Anyway, looks like he is probably the Chewbacca of the future, so we best get used to it.
Just to be a pedant, Chewie was played by Mayhew in all the scenes where he was sitting down. It was obviously though before they even started shooting that he wasn't capable of playing him on his feet. Up until recent surgery he was even wheelchair bound. Alas, the cost of being that tall. And yeah, the Finnish guy is the Chewie of the future. Mayhew has been on set for Ep 8, but I wouldn't be surprised if his role is now the same as Kenny Baker's and he's just there as a movement consultant. I think Ep 7 was a way of passing the actor torch.
The crashed tie fighter wasn't, the falcon wasn't and Rey's Popsicle wasn't. They could have built a Death Star model and Star Destroyers.
No, they were all CGI. The things you are referring to are the full scale models used for shooting scenes with actors. None of the scenes of the ships flying in space are practical effects.
Not really appropriate to this thread, but it's Star Wars and cool. I bought this shirt a couple of weeks ago: TeeFury still has it for sale, but at twice what I paid (they sell initial runs of their shirts for only $10-$11).
Mads Mikkelson is Jyn Erso's father. http://spinoff.comicbookresources.c...sen-reveals-rogue-one-a-star-wars-story-role/
I'll bet money that Mads is playing an Imperial officer/official of some type. Her rebellion against him will be mirrored by her larger role in the rebellion against the Empire.
... No, seriously, for realsies. http://www.superherohype.com/news/373391-alden-ehrenreich-cast-as-the-young-han-solo
