That's not the argument. @Ancalagon was trying to compare Biden and Obama's cages to Trumps to indicate that the former wasn't abusive while the latter's was. I was correcting that record. The Obama administration oversaw the abuse of children. I mean in our own country. We blew the shit out of them in other countries.

Trump only did out in the open what our government does behind closed doors, and Trump was either dumb or apathetic enough to get caught doing it. Bombing countries? Caging kids? Using his power as a bludgeon? Sending troops in to quell protests? Presiding over black folks being killed by cops? Cramming money in his cronies pockets? Our executive branch has been doing that shit for decades.

I'm receptive to your argument, but you need to provide an alternative beyond donating to charities. What would you do in regards to immigration policy? This isn't a trick or "gotcha" question. I'm genuinely interested in your opinion.

I'm not a fan of "kids in cages" either.

That's why I support those kids being released into the care of properly vetted guardians as soon as humanly possible. Last I heard, Biden is trying to get that done while Trump was doing everything in his power to prevent that from happening, which is why I see a difference between Trump and Biden on this issue.

Until they can be released, I'd much rather they be housed in something that's not a cage. But if there's nothing else open because unaccompanied kids are showing up at the border faster than they can be processed, we can't just let them wander the streets.

What would you rather be happening? Walk us through it. Don't just whine, go through the details.
I understand your real life is extremely pathetic and is unlikely to become less pathetic in the near future, but raising yourself up by claiming moral superiority over human beings online probably isn't the best coping mechanism. :brood:
Again with this? I didn't vote for Biden. I'm Canadian. You used to have the decency to remember one basic fact about someone who considered himself your friend for over a decade.

From your memorial thread after you left "forever""

    I stand by this. :clyde:
I don't think you're using "temerity" properly, but irregardless, where I'm from (Canada, in case you forgot) a governments opponents are generally expected to present alternative policies if they expect to be taken seriously. Shadow budgets, legislative proposals for how they'd handle certain things differently, that sort of thing. Right now you're just howling at the wind.

Amaris I am also inclined to agree with your sentiment here, however refusing to provide even a vague alternative policy implies you don't think there is a better one (a view I would totally reject).

So tell us, what should policy for these situations be?

Amaris didn't. I split off the immigrant kid talk from the political meme thread.

When you do that, it turns the first poster in the thread in to the thread starter.

Have we mentioned the accusations of eugenics by giving forced hysterectomies to non-documented immigrant women in Trump's detention centers?

How about the policy which banned asylum seekers from even entering the country?

The fact that children as young as 4 were being marched before immigration judges to defend themselves in court without a translator or lawyer available?

Or the time Trump's ICE lawyers argued in court that they didn't need to provide sleeping locations, toothbrushes, toothpaste or washing facilities AFTER the same judge had ordered them to ensure that detainees had proper hygiene.

I noticed Amaris linked to an ACLU lawsuit against the Obama administration on asylum seekers - the ACLU sued the Trump administration over 400 times in 4 years.

No, not the same. And yes, there are some problems that aren't easily solved.

Such as vetting the people picking up unaccompanied minors, as one thing the Obama did do in their rush to make sure the kids were taken care of is accidentally turn them over to human traffickers, and fucking OF COURSE we don't want that to happen.

The forced hysterectomies happened under Obama, too. I'm kind of curious to know how many abused men, women, and children it takes for some of you to acknowledge when it's okay to halt that cruelty. So far, the answer seems to be "as soon as the other party's guy takes over."

It's not that I refuse, I've already mentioned how people can help, it's that nothing I recommend here will be adopted by the administration, and all it does is provide grist for Ancalagon to go on bleating about how it won't be possible. I'm already working with people who are trying to find legal outs to get around the cruelty of this administration (and the previous two). That some of you think my layout out what I'd like to see (personally? open borders) would contribute anything other than fodder is sweet, but unlikely. That said, here's what we can do:

    1. Stop separating families (despite what you've been told in popular US media, it's still happening).
    2. There are hundreds of empty hotels that could safely house many of these people. Some charities are already trying to make this happen.
    3. Sponsorships from local families and communities to feed and house people in their towns could also mitigate the growing numbers of refugees in need.
    4. Donate to orgs like RAICES and Al Otro Lado who are working as fast as they can to get refugees out of courts and into the US as a welcome visitor (and hopefully resident).
    5. Speaking of, redirect more resources to courts. We're good at imprisoning millions of people, let's put that massive "justice" system to use for good instead.

"The class action lawsuit was filed Monday evening in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia on behalf of 14 women, some of whom are still detained and others who have been deported, alleging Amin performed unnecessary and nonconsensual medical procedures on them as far back as 2018. Including the 14 named women, in total more than 40 women provided sworn testimony as part of the lawsuit alleging malpractice by the gynecologist, who is also under investigation by Congress and the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General (OIG) after a former nurse at the facility, Dawn Wooten, filed a whistleblower report on Sept. 14."

It used to say 2015 in most of the articles that discussed it. Honestly, out of all the people here, I'm the one that will always tell you the truth no matter if it's someone I like or not. I don't have to find reasons why to say it's okay for a certain amount of children to be abused as a way to reject an argument against the idea in the first place. That's on you. Go on, though, look at how beautiful your emperor's clothes are.

Edited to add: Found one of the reports from 2020 that mentions hysterectomies going back six years. Who was president in 2014?

Then it should be easy to put forward those articles.

Unless, of course, you are full of shit.

As to the rest, if anyone abused children under any administration just about everyone on the left in this country would want them held accountable. Whereas there's quite a few people on the right who would say 'good.'

Just like the right doesn't understand that democrats want people who sexually assaulted minors to face justice in the Epstein matter no matter what letter is by their name. Fuck, a former comedian and now former Senator was forced out of the party for accusations of sexual impropriety during his days as a comedian.

    Article posted.

For the record, I always put forth as much evidence as I can when I make a claim. To pretend otherwise is to be a dishonest piece of shit.

As for being held accountable, Alejandro Mayorkas is a part of Joe Biden's immigration team. Seems he wasn't held accountable, just promoted.

    Ah, the Intercept. LOL, sure.

Yet the lawsuit does not purport that any illegal hysterectomies occurred until 2018. Funny that.

If there is any proof of any wrongdoing in the prior administration, it should come out.

But I guess the women in question simply are covering for Obama after they had their uteruses ripped out against their will.

You know, because he's so charismatic.

No one was listening to them until Trump, just like everyone ignored Tara Reade when Biden became the nominee. Don't give me that shit.
Look, you have to come to terms with it on your own. YOU will have figure out why you can disregard human rights abuses depending upon which party is in office.

I mean, you fuckers are actually trying to make an appealing choice between Trump and Biden because one has raped fewer women, and his boss had fewer women with forced hysterectomies while caging children.

If you ever wonder how a country slides into fascism, you have part of your answer.
