NPR first major media platform to leave Twitter entirely over Musk's antics.

This is exactly what Musk wants, he wants an echo chamber because he's a thin skinned trust fund kid. :jayzus:

It's what I want too - I'll be happy when he runs Twitter into the ground and continues his track record of losing more money than anyone in history.

It takes a while to build an audience, but no tech company is inviolate. Even Google will go the way of the dodo some day.

It’s hilarious that the National Panhandler Radio thinks they’re editorially independent. Bye Falicia!

NPR receives less than 1% of its budget from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

And if you don't think that other media outlets (including your favourites FOX or NewsMax) don't get a piece of the public purse either through direct subsidies or tax breaks, you're fucking delusional.

Actually, we already knew you were fucking delusional so this post is redundant.

The thing is, NPR runs stories containing criticism of Democrats from the right and the left, and they run stories and sources that praise Republicans from the right and the left.

You won't, for example, see NPR personalities campaigning with politicians. Or a memo saying "Let's follow this narrative even though we know it's false because it will up our pledge drive."

So, if I might ask, how much junk mail do you typically get? Serious question.

Elon Musk’s Twitter No Longer Shields Transgender People from Abuse

    Source: https://www.advocate.com/business/twitter-elon-musk-transgender-abuse

What few protections existed have now been removed. Sauce for the goose. I wonder how long I'll last tweeting awful things to Elon? I'd guess not nearly as long as the Nazis he follows.

Seriously, there needs to be a platform where people who aren't bigoted assholes can go. Some folks suggest Mastodon, and it is better, but being federated also means it's more difficult to connect there, and without higher profiles to draw other people in, it will just die. There has to be a solution.

There's this old 60's interview out in the YouTube-sphere somewhere with Anton Lavey (the Satanism guy) , and at one point, the interviewer goes "what's that smell?" meaning Lavey reeked of B.O. and Lavey calmly replies "that's just my musk".

I imagine that scene with a brown stink cloud floating above Lavey, and forming into Elon's face.

    Is that childish of me?
    Maybe, maybe not.
It's hipster wit compared to Elon's behavior.

The man desperately wants to be funny, and it's kind of sad that even being a billionaire he can't afford a sense of humor, or basic human compassion. It's always out of reach.

Saying words you don't like on the internet is not "bullying," "abuse," "attacking" or "endangering" you. Categorizing yourself in a "protected class" doesn't change the FACT that is YOUR job to control your emotions, and yours alone.

There is a solution. stop using. Not everything is meant to be for everyone. How many times has FF been told to suck rocks because he hates how WF is run by it's mods? It is the same thing. If you do not like someone else's message board and the rules you need to go find someplace else, or make your own. Elon is not changing, and twitter has and always will be a cesspool of the worst of human garbage.

There is a solution, it’s called create your own social media platform that can compete with Twitter. Or better yet, don’t use social media.
