^ Yep, and definitely didn't draw any attention to himself there. In the meantime Claire can't even do well in school because it would stick out too much (it is California, I guess). I suppose the assistant manager of a Kinkos being able to afford a huge house and new vehicles doesn't stick out too much either. Kind of a slow episode overall but the series probably needs to reestablish itself before it can kick into high gear. The only thing I didn't really like was flyboy. He feels like a retread, just a combination of Zach and the Petrelli boys. So I imagine that means Claire's going to fall head-over-heels for him.
I am interested in seeing what happens with that guy at Claire's school, I'm thinking he is a spy for someone, possibly the company.
This is something that wasn't quite clear to me. Where is HRG-family's money coming from right now? Or are they just slow in adapting to their new income level?
just watched it, and enjoyed it. bennetts "steven seagal in... dilbert" moment was fun, they might not be genetically related but he and claire are very much father and daughter when it comes to trying to keep undercover. and what was with nathans mirror flash in the bar? is he horribly scarred from the explosion, and we're seeing how he wants to look? i'd have preferred west to have a power other than flight, and i'm interested in seeing this one who's stalking molly in her dreams is - i wonder if that'll be seasons big bad or if he/shes getting built up for a future season?
I thought it was Peter too when I was watching it, but one of the show's producers says on his blog it was Nathan. http://gregbeeman.blogspot.com/ Which symbol? Do you mean the stylized "S" used to mark Kaito and Angela for death? If so, that has been a lot of places, including on Hiro's sword and a Jessica tattoo.
Hmm, I didn't think it looked fake. Kinda funky actually. Also, I think I've seen pics of him outside the show with the beard.
I think it's a kanji form but I wasn't able to recognize it when I was watching the episode. I have to rewatch the tape and put it on freeze frame and really look at it.
I have a freind like that - he has to shave his neck and shoulders every day. By lunchtime he looks like I do after a week. They identified the symbol as a kanji tonight - aaaand, I forgot what they said it meant. And Claire has GOT to be more careful.
Something like "Godsend" I believe. It was also mentioned by Mrs. Petralli that it was the logo of her husband's law firm.
Bah! This develops way too fucking slowly at one episode per week, compared to buying the whole season on DVD. Reminds me of Lost in that way.
In either case, I don't think I would have become a regular viewer if I hadn't been able to take in the entire first season at once.
The USAF website has a picture of Nathan Petrelli during his AF service years, apparently late for a meeting: http://www.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/web/070928-F-9876J-003.JPG
Let's talk about superpowers for a moment. Wouldn't stopping time also stop all of the air molecules around you, not to mention any object you tried to move? Wouldn't flying fast enough to cause a sonic boom tear your fucking face off?
There may be corollary powers that go with their superpowers. Hiro either can hold his breath while he has time stopped or can still move air molecules around him. The comic book character Cannonball had the ability to be invulnerable while flying. Presumably fliers have some sort of limited invulnerability, because otherwise running into a dust mote might blind you.
Exactly. I wasn't bored during the first season, but it's even better now: I know from last time that they will eventually wrap all this up carefully and sensibly, and so I can lean back and enjoy the slow and comfortable storytelling.
More than that: Stopping time should stop Hiro. There is no physical barrier around a person's skin that makes the inside of his body magically different to the outside; that's just cultural prejudice. So not just for the air molecules around him, but even for the movement of his own muscles, the flow of his own blood, Hiro must sustain a space with normal time flow -- and why shouldn't that area extend a bit around him, and have gradual rather than sharp borders?
But stopping time could not work like that. If the power of his stopping time was directly tied to stopping all molecules in the universe except his own, he would suffer from extreme hypothermia. The way I see it, he has a sphere of influence, sort of like a static warp bubble.
Besides, its obvious that Nathan Petrelli has more than one power. No normal man can grow a beard that thick in 4 months.
