There's nothing abnormal about that. I can grow one like that in 4 weeks and I am not even particularly gifted in the hair growth department.
How do their superpowers work? Very well thank you and that is enough explanation for me. Please don't try and ruin this show by needing to come up with scientific explanations for every little thing like what happened with Trek.
This episode felt just as slow as the last one... The only characters I really cared watching were the Bennets. I mean, who didn't see the "Hiro is really Takezo Kensei" thing coming after the last episode? Granted, Takezo's ability to heal himself was a little surprising, but we knew he would have some sort of power other than looking like Neil Patrick Harris. Hell, I didn't even find myself caring about Peter. He's probably better off without his memories, lest he turn into the same whiny emo bitch from last season. A very slow moving episode. Seemingly slower than the start of season one, even. I hope this trend doesn't continue. And my TV guide lied to me. Micah and Nikki weren't in this episode.
Why does "Who didn't see that coming" have to be a bad thing? EVERYONE saw it coming, of course. I think that was the idea here. The point was making us want to see it as it happens! It's FUN watching Hiro go through the motions.
Couple of points: 1. Hiro must have a field that extends around himself...he's moved others through time, and can move objects he touches. 2. Nikki has to have at least some limited invulnerability, because you can't tear people in half without suffering some injuries otherwise. I know that from experience. 3. I think Nathan has a field of some sort as well, probably one that helps him fly.
I don't think Hiro stops time at all. He removes himself (and those he takes with him) from the normal flow of time...steps outside the stream, so to speak.
With the revelation that the real Takezo Kensei possesses a healing ability I am suspecting that they are intentionally leading us down the wrong path and once everyone expects Hiro to stay in the past as Takezo Kensei they will suddenly bring him back to the present and never mention the whole affair again.
Hmmm.... humor is like a frog. If you dissect it, it dies. --Mark Tweain It seems the same principle can apply to TV shows. Over analyizing TV and movies can ruin them.
I think Nikki/Jessica is my favorite character at this point... Somewhat of a fresh spin on the superhero/alter-ego dynamic. One of my favorite lines of the series thus far was from her when she bumped into Parkman in episode 22 of S1 and she looks at him kind of evil like and says "Didn't I throw you out of a window?" Yep... I'm a fan.
Not for me it wasn't! Either you are speculating, in which case it isn't common knowledge, or are posting spoilers. Which is it?
Maybe it's not "common knowledge" per se, but it may be conventional wisdom. Knowing that Hiro is in the past and that television storytelling works the way it does, most people who thought about it much would expect that Hiro doesn't a) remain in the past till his death or b) continue travelling to alternate dimensions and/or time periods. That pretty much leaves a return to modern-day "Heroes"-verse as inevitable.
They have killed off plenty of characters upto now, and Hiro can time travel so it is actually possible for him to both exist in the present and the past.
One question of powers that I've been musing on for the guys who can fly: howcum they can fly significantly faster than can run? Powers obviously require some form of bodily energy to work. If a healthy guy can sprint for a mile at 10 miles per hour before needing to lay down and recouperate, how does Nathan streak up to a few thousand feet in a second, then poof off and fly far away as fast as a plane? Where does that energy come from?
yeah, for all the thought abut gravity and whatever, I always figured the easiest explanation for flight (and things done in mid-air) was telekenisis applied to self.
They have killed off secondary characters (Linderman, Sylar's mom), and generally ones who weren't well liked by the fans (Isaac, Simone). Hiro doesn't fall into either of those categories. TV viewers generally know that most of the protagonists aren't likely to be killed. It would be shocking, at least to me, and probably to most people, if the show killed off Peter, Nathan, Hiro or Claire anytime soon. While it obviously possible for him to exist in both the present and the past -- we're seeing it now -- the options are really as I stated above. He could live the rest of his natural life in the past. He could jump to an alternate reality/alternate time. Or he could come back to the present. I think it's pretty common sense that the last one is most likely to happen.
Sci-Fi Geek moment.... Given the relationship between space, time and quantum realities, what if Hiro's time jumping and teleportation was him actually shifting to alternate realities instead? Afterall, we saw bad ass Hiro last year after a nuclear detonation that killed Ando, and now, that Hiro will never exist. Now we see Hiro back in 1671 posing as Takedo Kenzie or whatever his name is... and he's trying to alter things to fit his knowledge of history... Just an intresting thought, is all.
If you're wondering how they fly and breathe and other science facts, then repeat to yourself "It's just a show, I should really just relax".
For months the producers have been saying that Hiro's little trip into the past is just a temporary one. Thus common knowledge.
Incidentally, what's the spoiler tag policy here? I think over at Big Blue, there's a provision that things that are common knowledge and confirmed by multiple interviews are fine without spoiler tags. Or maybe I'm just making that up.
