No spoilering, just speculation: Does anyone else have the feeling that Hiro will be Kensei's biographer? Thus ensuring the stories are told as they're supposed to be? Just a feeling I have. Also, has Peter managed to absorb powers from people he hasn't had contact with, but that Nathan has?
IIRC, Peter met DL in last season's finale, which is where (I assume) he picked up Nikki's superstrength and presumeably Micah's machine-manipulation, and maybe the little girl's whatever-she-does.
Molly Walker's power is that she can find heroes wherever they are located. I can't remember if she can also find normal people as well.
Nichelle Nichols is Micah's G'ma??????????????????????????????? http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=19433910
Nope... DL died in the ep before, after he killed Linderman. He did come really close to Nikki when she slapped Sylar with a lightpole (I love her!! ), so I think he has her strength... I hope Peter's story line picks up tonight.
You are remembering incorrectly. DL did make it to Kirby Plaza alive and breathing at the end of the 1st season finale. I assume we're going to finally get updated on what's been going on with DL/Micah/Nikki tonight.
Well DL's dead. Claires new friend isn't exactly subtle is he, taking off in the middle of the school. I class spoilers as anything that hasn't aired.
So anybody watch last night? What do you think about Monica Dawson and her "gift?" although she is very pleasing to look at, does everybody in this show have to have a power? t this rate, it won't be long before Momma Petrelli and Nichelle Nichols are flying around and bending spoons and shit.
I did. My main point of fascination is the nature and origin and makeup of the 12. We knew about five of them before last night: the Petralli parents Linderman Hiro's Dad Mr. Deveroux Last night we added.. Matt's Dad Bob that still leaves 5 unnamed, only one of which we got a clear look at (the woman between Bob and Parkman(?) ) I'd love to see a capture of the whole image....
Mrs. Petrelli seems to have the power to make people believe what she says, though there are probably some limits. Remember, she said 'what we can do' when mind-talking to Matt. I don't think Sylar will kill the twins for a while, because he doesn't want to risk them dying without taking their powers, and right now he can't. Monica (wrestling girl) has a pretty cool power, but it needs quantifying: 1. Does she have to see the thing on TV, or can she do it in person? 2. Can she copy things she shouldn't be able to do? (like, can she learn a language after just hearing a few words?) 3. Can she copy powers as well? Honestly, I was half-expecting her to get fired for fighting an armed robber, but I'm glad her character is so interesting.
As for Monica...I wonder what would happen if you showed her a video of a Jedi or Superman in action...
I believethe spoilers say Monica can duplicate anything she sees done - the TV would not be crucial. but whether that is limited to things within normal human abilities or would include things that are superhuman (i.e. she sees Nathan fly then she can fly too) is not stated in anything I've read. I do remember the producer saying that we would find this season that there are "circles" of people with the same power (in other words, West and nathan both being flyers) and so perhaps all the "parasite" powers (Peter, Sylar, Monica?) are in the same "circle"????
It's not on an island and there have not been any plane crashes or smoke monsters. Thats what he's getting at.
Don't care about Monica, don't care about the Wonder Twins, don't care about that ugly-ass kid who wants to watch wrestling. And hell, Claire's boyfriend/stalker/general creepo had better start being more than vaguely creepy, otherwise he's going in the list as well. Too many goddamn cast members - this isn't fucking Lost people. Casts of 50 just mean 40 people nobody gives a shit about. Honestly, first-season Heroes was pushing it in that regard. I've got to say, though - Nichelle Nichols stole the screen whenever she was on. She's a great actress, and she's probably the only new character that I actually want to see more of.
Well, all that is true to a point but Heroes started out this way last season. A lot of slowly developed threads that funnel down into one real story. Having all these people around - especially the little bastard that is Monica's ...brother? - isn't a remote sign that they are all important. i suspect a lot of them are "Red Shirts" By the way, suppose NN's character is going to turn out to be one of the 12?
True, but I don't agree with that assesment really. For one thing, two of the people listed there are dead. For another, I would list the "Main" characters really as: Peter Nathan Hiro Bennett Claire Parkman Suresh Everyone else is, to me at least, peripherally involved with the plot, or a villain (sylar).
Appaently, Monica was in the S1 Ep titled "4 years later..." When Hiro went to the future and met his bad ass self. How could I miss a hottie like that, I'll never know.
I still don't like any of the new characters except for Needlenose Ned, and he's had like three scenes total. And judging by the preview, The romance between Claire and the nerdy guy who's name doesn't really fucking matter seems more forced and contrived than the Chakotay/Seven relationship on Voyager. "Leave me alone, you're ugly and nerdy and my dad said no. Oh what's that, you saw me chop off my pinky toe and regrow it, and you can fly? Well I guess we sort of have something minute in common after all, please kiss me on the beach and the Hollywood sign I don't find you irritating like I did a week ago." Also, I don't see why the female twin can speak English but the male twin can't. I mean, they can't be too far apart for more than 10 seconds without the chick making people bleed oil out of their eyes. It seems like if she learned English, he probably would have too, especially if they're twins. Nikki is a terrible mother for leaving her son in fucking New Orleans. Not to mention the writers capitalizing on a tragedy for the sake of a small plotline that could have been placed literally any where else. Can we get back to season one levels of awesome already? Come on.
We essentially knew Mama Petrelli has a power. Linderman said as much. It hasn't yet been confirmed what it is. Like Chewie said, it may be that she has the power of persuasion. It's also reasonable to assume Nichelle has one too. We apparently got a clear look at them all, if you have TiVo. I missed the guy who was sitting next to Deveaux on viewing. You can find screen grabs here: http://www.heroes-tv.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3022&forum=19&post_id=41834 It also includes a composite made by putting what's visible at different times into one image. I think you are mistaken. First season had an episode "Five Years Gone," which is the one where Hiro went into the alternate future. IMDB has Dana listed for "Four Months Later," which is the S. 2 premiere. So I think your future ex-wife detector is still fully functional. In fairness, I think a good part of why she found him irritating was because she was trying to live up to HRG's rule of being inconspicuous at the time and he was telling her that she needed to stand out. I also think it's reasonable that she would forgive some of his weirdness thinking that he had been abducted and experimented on by her daddy. And finally, it's pretty much SOP in most comic/genre fiction to have the "we're irritated at each other...oh wait, we really like each other" dynamic. Not that I'm shipping the two of them or find them anything less than awful to watch. It's just that I could understand the irritation/attraction deal. Even within a family, there are different aptitudes and interests about learning languages. My sister and some of my brothers are fluent in Spanish. I and one of my brothers can basically manage "uno, dos, tres, quatro." Of all the problems to complain about this series, the notion that one sibling would be more studious and go out of her way to learn another language and another wouldn't strikes me as fairly low on the list. I don't see how leaving her son with relatives who happen to live in New Orleans but otherwise are in good stead is so awful, given the main alternatives of keeping him with her as she goes to meet the company, stashing him with friends back in Vegas where the man she helped kill still probably has a lot of foot soldiers, or leaving him on his own. As for exploiting Katrina, I don't think it's any worse or better than the main bomb plot, and indeed, the entire series itself being a conscious reflection on 9/11.
Yes, but Heroes started out much smaller. I don't mind slowly developed threads - I mind too goddamn many of them. And Heroes is skirting it. Hell, when Sylar met up with the Wonder Twins, I said, "Fuck, now I have to pay attention when they're on-screen. Dammit." On one hand, I truly hope that some of them are redshirts. On the other hand, that means that screentime that could have been used for people I actually give a damn about was wasted on someone who was ultimately just marked for death. When it comes to redshirts, I felt that the gal from the diner was played perfectly. She had instant character (not to mention being cute as hell), and she got a few scenes total, enough to give her death something of an impact, but we weren't blowing real character development on her.
If they don't start showing some more superpowered duke-outs soon, they're gonna lose me. I don't care to see quite so much of Claire and her new boyfriend or the two Mr. Moms and the little girl. For that matter, I could do without Hiro's little 'unrequited love story in the 17th century' tangent, too. Even the gimped Sylar and Peter are boring the hell out of me. Hell, those two alone should be a battle of the titans on the scale of Superman vs. Captain Marvel, but instead we get these boring ass side trips where they waste time stretching believability even more by trying to connect everyone to everyone.
