but does it say those exact words " an end run around the authority of parents who hold the "wrong" opinions" ??????????????????????????????? no?
heh-I freelanced a light demo gig a few years back when I was still doing construction. Dude had been hiring his 19 year old nephew and a buddy and figured it'd take them two days to rip out some counters, cupboards, a ceramic floor and a hardwood one @ $20/hr. Told him my normal was $25 and he was a little blase, but tough shit, that's my base rate to use tools. Of course, it only took me six hours on my own... went back the next day expecting another assignment and he was dumbfounded that it was already done with the scrap bagged. paid me for the previous full day with an extra half and still saved himself a bunch of cash. Oy.. then there was the idiot home owner who rather than paying for the company to bring in however many guys my boss wanted (total gut and rebuild of a rowhouse) decided to grab some "day labour" from the local homeless shelter for sub minimum wage. He didn't like the added cost of our tools that got stolen after he painted a big ol' target on the house like that. Point being, construction work ain't for hobbyists or the untrained. It's not just unsafe, it's not cost effective.
Not sure if you saw this but what is the icing on this shit cake is that it comes from slaughterhouses getting busted last year using trafficked and in some cases slave child labor TO CLEAN KILL ROOMS. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...rafficking-children-slaughterhouses-rcna66081
C'mon Jimmy, lets take a peek at the killing floor! Don’t let the name throw you, Jimmy. It’s not really a floor; it’s more of a steel grating that allows material to sluice through so it can be collected and exported.
Fun thing is that Troy McClure skit seems like it was based on a real educational film. Back when Google Video was a thing I once came across a Hormel video from the 50s that had a few similar vibe, showing lots of the processing in very graphic and gleeful fashion.
Or even better: I prefer 'Christopher' over 'Chris' and yet most people default to 'Chris' even when I point out my preference. Outside of close friends or family, it's annoying as fuck, even if I tolerate it. But I guess I'm just an entitled bitch.
Well, not quite, though I agree with the sentiment. Capitalism's default answer is to bring in more workers. But the only people who want to come work in the US anymore are the wrong color, the rightie fundamentalists hate that far, far more than they love their children, so we get child labor.
It's far less about the teacher's superficial interactions than it is about what the other students are being taught they MUST do, and you do not get to present this "gender identity " crap as an obligation.
I don't know who you think you're impressing with this false equivalence deflection. We're talking about abusing a classroom to browbeat students into submitting unquestioningly to the feelings of .001% of the population. Try to stay on topic.
You know how I know you've gone full retard? Because you're outraged over the concept of teaching children basic politeness if that means being polite to people that make you uncomfortable.
That's not politeness. That's default submission to the will of people with no claim to your deference.
The fact that so much time is devoted to the folly of “activist teachers” tells me these conservative culture warriors have no interest in improving education, just scoring political points.
Politeness is "please, thank you, excuse me." Politeness is NOT "I will only use the language you deem suitable, stranger with no authority to dictate thesr terms to me."
hang on??? "claim to your deference"? maybe that's what's wrong with you? that you consider treating others with dignity as transactional and negotiable. likely expect others to "earn" your respect... /smh
I would improve it if I had that authority. Nobody would graduate without basic skills in reading and math, as well as a wage-eaning trade and the ability to manage basic personal finance.
sigh... real life moment. at work, someone comes looking for a coworker (who identifies NB). Them-I'm looking for XXXX, have you seen her? Me-No. They aren't in today T-Can you tell her I was here? She said blah blah blah. Me-I'll be sure and tell them when they are in later. Dead fucking simple. I didn't have to chastise the guy or even directly correct him. Costs me nothing to respect my co worker and even less to encourage others.
It's the general concept of others imposing their will on the individual. Furthermore, dignity is not an entitlement and your feelings do not constitute an obligation for others.
Cost them nothing to say "please" either, did it? But nobody is asking, here. At issue is "I am the teacher and you will comply without question or dissent. "
homeless folks, I can live without the gratuitous deference to my role working with'em. We do have pretty stringent policies about actual verbally abusing people though...Like, you'd probably get written up faster for your abundant use of calling others "retard"... that sort of bigotry ain't allowed. Nobody is saying you can't question or dissent. You just can't call people stuff when you've been asked not to call them that.
And that is a condition nobody gets to impose. You may ask, but they are free to decline without "victimizing" you.
