Exactly. Not sure why @Forbin didn't think of selling them to @Captain X. I heard he's amassing quite an arsenal for when he finally snaps.

It's the only state left where it's illegal to pump your own gas... unless the county has a population of less than 40,000.

It's like foreplay for when he peppers me with live ammunition instead, I'm so excited!!!!!:aww:

It's not the hobby aspect that make the restrictions objectionable, it's the self-defense aspect. When you're fighting for your life, you want every shot you can get.

true enough! It's kind of hypocritical to say "you have the right to use a firearm to defend life & limb" yet limit your capability to do so. Granted if the means you use to defend yourself endangers others (not potentially dangers others - maybe - someday but in that moment) such as wildly waving a shotgun and throwing lead everywhere then of course the self defense aspect falls apart.
But if you need to defend yourself against bad guys (who often work in groups) who tend to become moving targets once the shooting starts (duh) why not use as many rounds as you see fit for the situation? The bad guy won't be any more or less dead from one bullet or three bullets. But you might dead if your last bullet didn't do the job.

BTW all the "well if you would just aim better" idiots can suck it. Target shooting at stationary targets under zero stress is-not-the-same. It's kind of like those karate guys who break bricks with their and shit. Now break bricks while getting punched in the face repeatedly.

I'm not going to defend legislation that does not impact me and that I did not write or support. Merely pointing out that dangerous hobbies have restrictions in place for a reason. Anyone starting such a hobby knows those risks going into it. Anyone who doesn't realize there are restrictions on their dangerous hobby probably should take up stamp collecting. States have the right to protect their citizens how they see fit

    but also...

    which is it?

and seriously... if after 10 shots you haven't hit your target, he's either too far or too close for it to make a difference any more.

Because you have to fight for your life every single day uin America. No one here dies of old age because we are all in so much danger.

Dude, if someone came up to kill you they would easily just take your gun ioff your corpse. the only danger to them would be slippoing in the puddle of cowardly gun owner piss. The most likely person to die from your macho gun owner surrogate penis is your member when you accidentally blow it off when you holster it in your waist band, but I would agree that you might nee more than ten shots to find that little fucker.

Stop playing hero when you are a coward.

End of the day, if you can pump slightly less lead into someone than before, I'm not gonna care as much as about legislation that stops you pumping a consenting member of any sex you desire, or that weakens the folk you voted for, or any of that shit.

    Guns are for killing.

If you find your home attacked by more than 10 people, maybe you should question the country you fucking live in.

that is incorrect. Almost all shooting situations are static/fluid and "he's either too far or too close" is laughably simplistic. Often there are multiple threats to engage at varying distances, and cover, concealment and visibility in general can rapidly alter the situation. A few more bullets can make a tremendous difference. Don't let YouTube police shootout videos alter your perception of the dynamics of gun incidents.

And let's factor in "hitting" a threat versus "stopping" a threat. Bullets are not magic - many bad guys have survived getting hit multiple times and they are returning fire (thus still a deadly threat) the entire time they are getting shot. My step brother decided to engage the police (I don't know what weapon my step brother had) and he got hit in the head, the chest, and the hand with 9 mil rounds
back in the day. He has no permanent severe injuries from the incident other than minor scars. There are tens of thousands of people with similar tales here in the US.

So at what point do you (the good guy) say "well that ought to do it! The crisis is over because I'm sure I hit him!" Magazine capacity very well might save your life. The data is out there if you are genuinely interested in why magazine capacity matters concerning self defense.

"How many gunfights have you had in NJ?" - Tererun

it only takes one to ruin your day! :bergman: In my opinion it's all about valuing your life over that of the aggressor. By default, FUCK THE AGGRESSOR.....fuck the "bad guy". If they are trying to cause severe bodily harm to you or innocent people in your vicinity, they get what's coming to them.

That said shooting somebody who is trying to steal your car (and you are not in it of course) is WRONG. :nono: Shooting a shotgun in the air to "scare" a fleeing robber is WRONG. :nono:
That said once somebody displays a deadly weapon or discharges or otherwise demonstrates intent to use that weapon all bets are off - but still be cognizant of public safety lest YOU end up being a threat too! Just my 2 cents

figured the probable scenario here was waking up to a burglar in the house. isn't that the golden ticket for gun ownership?

in which case I'm looking at it from the POV of the burglar that has somehow been missed by the responsible, controlled, castle defending gunowner here. I'm also presuming enough penetrating power to get through a hollow core door or interior drywall... or can we assume our good guy isn't firing blindly through the wall? Okay, go with not firing blindly, so you just missed 10 times at a distance of probably no more than 20 feet.

Now, I'm either A) also armed and it would be hard not to be a better shot or B) running like hell and hoping that's just a chunk of door causing the pain in my leg. Seems to me that as Zombie suggested, there's plenty of time to reload.

I will give you that given this is the state of NJ and how toxic mutants roam the earth there, and might have an ability to take 10 rounds and still keep oozing, I am pretty sure residing there will also give you much more powerful mutant powers. Perhaps @Forbin was on the losing side of jersey mutation, and his special power was screaming like an infant. However, I say let evolution take it's course and if you didn't get a decent mutation that will allow you to survive better your DNA can get flushed.

Oh, and I have seen jersey boys shoot. A clip that could hold a thousand rounds is not going to help a NJ person hit an attacker.

Okay... read that back to yourself. :rofl:Was that your subscription to "Armchair Vigilante" Dayton4?

Is "I've actually broken into a few houses" an adequate perspective? I've got enough sense to consider obvious things like being able to see what you're shooting at and likely environmental factors. Seriously... go measure the line of sight from your best cover spot in a B&E

You've got "but his leather jacket!!"-among other things, ignoring the environmental factors. Maybe your scenario is where you need to have 15 shots at a 120lb teen with a 4 inch knife in one hand and his dick in the other from 10 feet? That cop sure did.

y'all go on and on how I don't know what I'm talking about, so walk me through how you need more than 10 shots (specifically those extra 2) before reloading and still claim to be exercising adequate behavior and control of the firearm? hell, give me a plausible scenario.
