It's within the realm of possibility, but so is me getting struck by lightning tomorrow, but I'm still going to check the mailbox.
Use your head, and not your suspicion.

Well, let's see here, lots of people knew that Harvey Weinstein was an asshole. Lots of people knew he was a rapist. Yet until Rose McGowan publicly called him on his shit, nobody did anything about it. Why is that?

Chris Pratt apparently has rather Daytonesque views about religion (supposedly he won't do a movie which shoots in a location that is insufficiently Christian for him), yet he still gets work. Why is that?

Are you going to tell me that the largest media empire the world has ever seen is incapable of spinning a slightly negative story into a positive one? Yeah, that dog don't hunt.

Maybe Gunn wanted too much money. Maybe something else was going on. I don't know, and I don't care. I'm not at all seeing how him getting fired was unjustified.

Never like GotG too much. Mostly because of James Gunn. Film just came off too incestual. Just my opinion. Now.

Four, you idiot. There's not a person you can name that I'll be heartbroken if they get booted for being a dick waffle. I'd much rather know that they're an ass gasket than think they're some kind of perfect hero.

I haven't seen any of the GotG movies, never heard of the comics until fairly recently, and don't really care that the director of two movies I've never seen got fired for some shit he tweeted years ago. I can point to a number of dick wad celebrities who keep getting work, even though they're ass gaskets. Adam Sandler comes to mind, but he's just one among many..

Some fans are calling for Taika Waititi to take on GotG3.

I think that's an excellent idea.

And I think that we now know why Gunn got axed.
Somebody at Disney saw the nutters talking about Gunn's tweets, figured that somebody in the GOP would start carping about them, and if Gunn was still an employee at Disney, make the Fox merger a lot harder.

It will be interesting to see if he's quietly hired back by Disney after the merger gets approved.

Solo flop is the stealing of the Death Star plans for Disney. The rebellion will grow stronger now and the destruction of the Death Star is next thanks to James Gunn getting fired.

I heard someone float the possibility that DC might want to scoop Gunn up.
Of course, they'd wait a couple years for this bullshit to cool down, but after that...

    I'd be for it!

Point of order: Weinstein didn't go down because of McGowan, he went down because Dylan Farrow (a man) meticulously collected many of the countless accusations against him and got them published in a popular and reputable magazine.

But as far as Gunn, the theory I keep hearing is that since it was rightiet trollsthat were attacking him, Disney felt it was prudent to fire him so he couldn't be used by Trump as an excuse to block the merger with Fox. :async:

Galactus getting his own movie? FFS. I mean, you can just about make vampires relatable as anti-heroes, if they only take as much blood as they need and keep the victim alive. Galactus EATS PLANETS. And only life-bearing planets work. What are they gonna do?

It seems like Sony is just throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks.

They are trying to make movies out of all these Spider-Man supporting characters... without establishing any connections to Spider-Man.

Mainstream audiences are just going to be scratching their heads. I’m not even really sure about Venom. He’s supposed to be the dark mirror of Spider-Man. Without that he’s just another generic alien.

But at least he has had some worthwhile solo comic stories like Lethal Protector.

Morbius? Black Cat? Silver Sable? No one gives a fuck about these characters outside of Spider-Man fans.

Maybe Marvel/Disney should offer up something in exchange to get back Spider-Man. Could they trade one of the newly acquired properties from FOX? Like Alien or The Simpsons? Or The X-Files?

Yeah, watching Sony trying to build a cinematic universe is like watching Justin Hammer try to copy the Iron Man suit.

Holy shit that is really the perfect analogy.

At least DC seems to be course correcting and moving away from this cinematic universe idea. I think the multiverse/elseworlds is much better suited for DC anyway. We could get a Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck Batman team up! There are all sorts of possibilities. They’ve already started doing stuff like that with their TV shows.

Marvel’s classic epics are Secret Wars and Infinity Gauntlet. DC’s big epic is Crisis On Infinite Earths... that’s what they should try to build up to.

I don't think that's the way to go, at least not for a while. Once you get into convoluted parallel Earth stories, general audiences are going to be confused. Even comic book readers were overwhelmed by those, hence the simplification of all the DC universes into a single, unified continuity.

I think Identity Crisis would be a better choice.
