Hopefully the EU will also require that much of the produce from western Poland get labeled "From Polish occupied Germany", while produce from western Belarus will be labeled "From Belarus-occupied Poland" and of course some French products will be labeled "From French-occupied Italy."

Oh wait, they only do things like that to Jews.

Perhaps it comes under the EU's definition of anti-Semitism.

The EU is the definition of anti-Semitism.

    Telegraph.co.uk story

EU flag burned as tens of thousands join Warsaw nationalist demo
Organisers said that up to 50,000 were on the march which marked the anniversary of Poland's independence after the Second World War

Demonstrators trampled and burned a European Union flag at one point, while a banner added to the anti-EU theme with the slogan "EU macht frei" ("Work makes you free" in German), a reference to the slogan over the gates at Auschwitz.

"Yesterday it was Moscow, today it's Brussels which takes away our freedom," chanted one group of protesters.

Other banners read "Great Catholic Poland" and "Stop Islamisation".

The EU policy is up with the Muslim, down with the Christian and Jew.

It's amazing, a few posts ago you were citing (your silly interpretation of) the EU definition of anti-Semitism as if it were the gospel itself, and in the next breath, because the EU has decided to give consumers more information so that they can make informed choices, you say that the EU is the embodiment of anti-Semitism.

The other point of view is that it is legal discrimination by creating undue prejudicial burden which singles out the Jewish state thus making it yet another example of the double standards used by anti-semites, such as yourself.

For instance, there are a number of occupied or militarily conquered territories on this planet (West Sahara, Tibet, and a number of remaining colonies/overseas territories come to mind) yet none are subject to this regulatory burden. Only Jews are so lucky as to be the target of your bigoted attacks. If all such occupied territories were dealt with in the same manner with the exact same regulations then you might have a case. As it is you only single out Israel and everyone else gets a free pass. That is clearly holding Israel to different standards than everyone else.

That is why these regulations truly are antisemitic in nature as are you for supporting Antisemetism.

How is it discrimination? The products are not being banned; consumers are merely being told where they come from. Why are you against consumer choice?

What is and is not determined to warrant disclosure on packaging does represent a value judgment.

Most people, for example, would not be OK with labeling based on the race of the people working in the factory. "This food product may have been handled by black people," for instance.

A perfect analogy? No. But if the intent is to make it easier for people to boycott products from the Israeli portions of the West Bank or Golan Heights, it is not a politically neutral move.

Why isn't the EU labeling products from the Falklands as "Made in British-occupied Argentina", products from Kosova as "Made in Muslim occupied Serbia", and products from Gibraltar as "Made in British-occupied Spain"?

It does, it absolutely does. Why not the same regulation for all those other occupied places I mentioned? Why do you only single out the Jewish state for unequal prejudicial treatment yet not do the same for, say, Western Sahara or Tibet?

Clearly this is a double standard singling out Jews and even you know it. That is why you refuse to answer the question.

It has been explained multiple times. Please try reading them, taking a moment to understand the argument, and then respond. Your constant ignoring of arguments when you have no response is getting tiresome.

As you admit yourself, it's not a good analogy.

And of course it's not politically neutral; people have political views about different countries and may base their consumption choices on them. This move will allow people to differentiate between products made in Israel proper and those made in its illegal settlements.

You edited your post after I had made mine and then you come up with that. Typically dishonest from you I'm afraid.

But to answer your edit, one difference I suppose is recognition. Tibet is recognised as part of China; I would support clear labelling of products from Western Sahara, although I'm not sure they actually produce anything there. In cases of unrecognised occupations I support clear labelling so that consumers can make a clear choice.

You see this is your problem, you lack the ability to think things through and your knee jerk reactions make you look stupid.

At present all products from Israel and the occupied territories are labelled as being from Israel. An anti-Semite would presumably boycott all products from Israel, the Jewish state (as an aside do you boycott products from Muslim countries, or does your racism only extend to posting hate online?), and therefore this ruling will not affect their consumption choices.

What this ruling will allow people to do is to differentiate between products made in Israel proper and those made in its illegal settlements. It may even mean that some who boycotted Israeli product because they might have come from the illegal settlements now feel able to buy products from Israel proper. It will probably mean some economic damage to the said illegal settlements, but any such damage will be the direct result of European consumers exercising their free choice to show their disapproval of Israeli's policies in the occupied territories.

Boris Johnson nails it. You will also notice the Palestinian Authority came out against this.

Personally, I think if we are unwilling to stand up for our values then our values mean nothing. The US needs to threaten those states who enact such antisemitic regulations with sanctions in 90 days if they do not reverse course. Britain, Denmark, and a few other countries opted out and so should not be targeted but those which do should be told change it by the deadline or get sanctioned. My guess is they will change course and throw the antisemites under the bus where they belong.

How are Israel's settlements illegal when Poland seized 100,000 square kilometers of Germany, kicked all the Germans out, and have been living there ever since? Are there special European laws that only apply to Jews, not Europeans?

I do not boycott anything. I do generally buy higher quality goods as a matter of preference and that generally weeds out most things made by muslims. I would never buy olive oil, for instance, from North Africa or the middle east as they are cheats and liars and around 80% of it is either fake or adulterated garbage.

In fact, the entire EU has a problem with rampant fraud in the olive oil business so I mostly buy domestic California extra virgin olive oil as it both tastes better and it's quality can be assured. You cannot say the same for oil from the EU and you definitely should never trust olive oil from Muslim cheats and liars.

You can try to dance all you want but you know this is aimed only at Israel, that the two dozen or so other occupied territories on the planet are not held to the same standards, and so this really is an example of holding Israel to different standards than every other country on Earth. By the EU's own working definition and by the US State Department Definition that is explicitly defined as an act of antisemetism.

    Your bigotry is blinding you.

Also, in your rush to scream anti-Semitism, you didn't actually bother to read the definition of anti-Semitism you quoted. It says:

Which would seem to exclude China, Morocco and the like. Why the omission? Was it ignorance or yet more dishonesty from you?

But the whole of Gibraltar is occupied by Britain. Therefore, a label saying made in Gibraltar tells the consumer everything they need to know. The occupied territories are divided, as I showed you earlier in this thread, between Israeli control and Palestinian control, and therefore clear labelling is necessary for consumers to make a clear choice.

Ok, playing your game... Turkey continues to occupy northern Cyprus (Cyprus is supposedly democratic but has real problems due to the Turkish occupation and divided legal system) yet all goods are labeled Made in Cyprus and not Turkish occupied Cyprus.

No, the label wouldn't tell the consumer that Gibraltar is under British military occupation. But then that's the point when it comes to products made in the EU. They don't want consumers to know all the nasty bits, like the unapologetic and uncompensated use of Jewish slave labor to build cars, or which Spanish olives come from land stolen from the Moors through violence, or which French products come from Lesser Britain, aka Brittany, which has a nationalist movement seeking to break free of France so it can stand with other Celtic regions like Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

But when it comes to Jews, I'm surprised the EU isn't requiring the labels to look like this:

    Made in Israel

Morocco claims to be a democracy so you are just wrong there; there should be labeling for goods made in Moroccan occupied Western Sahara. Maldovia with the Russian occupied ethnic enclave, Ukraine with the Russian occupied east as well as Crimea, Azerbaijani with Armenian occupied Negorno-Karabach and Karki, Abkazia which is Russian occupied Georgia (same with South Ossetia)... All claim to be democracies yet are not required to comply with your prejudicial regulations. I could go on but I think I have made my point.
