Obi Wan spent the next 8 years “communing” with Qui Gon. And Qui Gon was the mystic. Obi Wan was a scholar. So, Obi Wan couldn’t kill Vader even if he thought Anakin was dead. Qui Gon will convince Obi Wan that Vader has to die and Luke will be the one to do so.

You're assuming that Obi Wan is a logical robot and not a fallible person with weaknesses and emotions.

It just comes down to the fact that he can’t bring himself to do it. Someone pointed out that it would also go against the Jedi code since he was basically was toast. It’s the same thing Anakin told Mace Windu that it wouldn’t be the Jedi way to kill Palpatine.

I remember watching a doc about the OT, and they said that the whole "Revenge of the Jedi" thing was a red-herring, that they never planned to call the movie that, and they never even created promotional material with that name. Made me wonder if I was misremembering the title card I saw in theaters in the months before the switch was made to "Return of the Jedi." Then, they had another interview with the guy who said that there were no promotional materials for "Revenge" and on the wall behind him, quite clearly, was a movie poster that said, "Revenge of the Jedi."

Also, Lucas said that Han was married to a Wookie, but they couldn't come out and say that only allude to it in the Star Wars Holiday Special. Luke also asked Leia for her memories about her "real mother," as if the motherfucker hadn't spent the exact same amount of time with their mother that Leia had. Continuity ain't exactly their thing.

Or if you want to be cynical, you could argue that Obi Wan never wanted Luke to kill Vader in the first place, and that he was just setting up the two of them up for a confrontation that he hoped would bring Anakin back to the light. :chris:

There’s Revenge of the Jedi posters out there. As far as continuity goes, you’ll find it in the animated stuff.

Nah, if we can't dump the horror shit that was the PT, then I think Gore Vidal's solution with the problems in the script for Ben Hur would be the best solution.

Binged the show in two sittings.

It was...okay. I wasn't liking it all that much until the last episode, which raised the overall score a bit for me.

One thing that bothered me was how being dragged through fire by Vader was enough to burn the shit out of Obi-Wan's skin, but his hair and beard didn't even look singed.

Speaking from experience, I can tell you that it doesn't work that way IRL. :garamet:

As someone who's worked in a foundry, I concur. In fact, your skin, if you've been spending a lot of time in the heat, will handle it better than your hair will. Depending upon how much time Kenobi had been on Tatooine, and how hot the planet is, his skin might well handle fire a shitload better than his hair does.

While I remember the Revenge promo posters being in theatres, I'm pretty sure this is a post '81 revisal if not an also unofficial variant. The title logo isn't right in the placement of the words "Star Wars" in the borders around the subtitle of "A New Hope"...

Same poster without ANH that was created from existing artwork, apparently...

    original poster by Tom Jung:

note in the bottom right the printing year.

    Also, found this
Think it's safe to say the "ANH" version is a retcon

It's definitely better than the prequels or sequels, I'll give it that. At least it attemps some minimal level of consistency with itself.

Um, I thought this was already well-established.

I remember seeing Star Wars about 20 times in the theatre in 1977 and 1978, and there was no fucking "A New Hope" anywhere to be seen.

You know, there's enough seeds in this, you could use Reva and the worlds we saw here, to revive "Star Wars: Underworld".

Finally watched the last episode......I think this thing is basically a disaster if Ewan MacGregor isn't in it. He carried the whole show

The production values were really shitty, the direction and story flow was choppy and awful, Leia was super fucking annoying.....

It did get stronger as it went on but overall it was just pretty meh which is borderline criminal given the popularity of the character and the demand for a show about Obi Wan

If they're planning to make a go of it with another series they need a new director and writing team big time

okay... so I started with random star wars child protagonist(s) getting lost in the lower levels of Coruscant

then the Clash song "lost in the supermarket" drifted through my head, but the Max Rebo cover

started to wonder what sort of homage to Joe Strummer would be in a planet name...

sort of drifted over to something like Times Square meets the Warriors with a space DJ providing situationally ironic narration. Soundtrack is going to be a big part of this and create a couple new SW takes on music. CoruSka, Mandolorian Blue Grass, and of course, Hothian Death Metal.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I want this to be the Martez sisters. We can get them the ship, have Syd put them going eastbound and down before settling into a more BJ and the Bear (a kitbashed B1 droid that's chimp like?), but a trio for the next few episodes.

Eventually spin it into Andor by sending them on an Apocalypse Now style mission where pretty much everybody dies.
