Being a nurse, he probably knew for a while and kept it quiet till the last minute. Kinda like Peter Jennings, who also had lung cancer, made his last broadcast about four months before he died.

My Dad died of lung cancer. They basically kept him unconscious for the last couple of days until he just stopped breathing.

His wife Michele was asking on FB if anyone had pics to share with her. Her name is MicheLe Watson Adkins (not a typo) if one is not already friends with her.

I thought he was younger for some reason, but I do remember him from the TrekBBS when he first started posting there. This sucks.
