    Sure.

Doesn't matter anyways, because their 'experiment' was designed to get rid of the Red Room. Leave it to the trolls, to those that want flame wars, to those that want to insult each other.....and use the Green Room to post the 'serious' stuff.

They wanted to censor people.....plain and simple.

Yes, it does happen on occasion. My problem is such an occasion is becoming more and more rare.

Garamet, Sokar, Liet, apostle, Mewa etc... does it really matter who does it first? All the other usual suspects (there answered two posts in one) will then pile on and before too long the thread is shit.

Yeah, tried that. Hell back in the day I was even a 'News Hound' whose job it was to look up interesting stories, post them in the Headlines forum and also here.

Should have copied all the Shelter threads when I had the chance!!!!

The problem is that such a proposal requires EVERYONE go along with it. A couple of people who don't give a shit (like Sokar just made abundantly clear in Apostle's thread) and it is all for naught.

Very few posters were able to barely keep the discussions about 'after the EMP' and 'shooting guns in space' on topic - and that was only because it wasn't really political, more of a 'what if' kind of discussion.

And yet, there were still a bunch of weasels in there throwing all kinds of shit just because they could.

The only political topics in the RR that stay on topic are the ones that are so obviously 'right-wing jack-off' threads that no one on the left even bothers to post a reply.

And if Lanzman had said no to having the same thread in the Green and Red room at the same time Garamet, Liet, and 14thDoctor would have been rushing to fill the Green Room up with political threads to prevent any of them being started in the Red Room.

Those three do not want any thread that is in the Green Room to also be in the Red Room because they want to force their way in how the board should be run on everyone. One only has to look at their desperate attempts to ruin any Red Room thread that is also in the Green Room to see that.

It is sounding more and more like someone doesn't like the way WF is right now - even though it's really not changed since we from TNZ emigrated here back in the day.
So tell me, garamet - what has happened? What is so bad now about WF that you want to turn it into TNZ?
I mean, if you REALLY want TNZ, you can always go back ... well most can.

My theory...For a long time here a lot of people didn't see or at best, ignored her little word games and constant "gotcha" attempts. Now most of the board calls her on it on a regular basis. Of course she posts about being called on it as "everyone trolling per sweet innocent Garamet" She wants it like TNZ so calling her on it can be reported as trolling.

I'm not sure that's aimed at my post but I'll give an answer anyway.....

I don't think you guys were plotting or individually thinking about flooding the Green Room with political threads to prevent those threads from being in the Red Room if Lanzman had said there can only be one version either in Green or Red.

I think it would have been the natural outcome of such a decision. Once the implication sank in you, Liet, Garamet and a few others would be racing others to put as many political threads in the Green Room as you could. Your opponents, mostly everyone else ;), would be racing to put political threads in the Red Room to prevent them from being in the Green Room. I think the mods would assassinate Lanzman after having to deal with that mess. :D

You wouldn't be putting threads in the Green Room because you were interested in discussion but as a way to troll those you don't like by forcing them into the Green Room and it's more restrictive rules.

On the other hand you would simply come into the Red Room threads that beat you to the punch and do what you've already done in a handful of them: Fuck them up on purpose to prevent discussion.

Fortunately Lanzman made the right decision to let the same exact thread exist in both rooms. (or perhaps someone on staff put a horse head in his bed as a warning. :calli: :soma:)

I think you're reading much more into this than is actually there. It was never an either/or situation. There was never any prohibition against current events being discussed in the GR; it's simply that previously they'd be automatically moved to the RR.

The only thing that's changed is that now if the OP requests it, those threads won't be moved.

It is funny, though, watching how some people are reacting...

I just wanted a chance to have real discussions again. I know I can't stop people from trolling in the Red Room, and I know I suck at ignoring the trolls, so when Lanz mentioned the Green Room (he brought it up, not me), I took a chance and asked about it.

And I think duplicate threads are fine, but if someone who trolls me endlessly starts one specifically to troll me, then I don't feel obligated to be especially kind about it. That said, I'll probably knock it off in the future, since ignoring them probably upset them more than anything else I could do.

Moving a political thread from the Green Room to the Red Room automatically is a de facto prohibition against posting political threads in the Green Room.

Never in this boards history has anyone ever thought you could put a political thread into the Green Room. Everyone looked at the Green Room as the Misc room version of TrekBBS.

Everyone operated under the assumption that political threads would be moved and when they did show up in the Green Room they were moved to the Red Room.

And no right now you don't have to request to keep a political thread in the Green Room. Once it is in the room it is staying because the mods are assuming you want it in there to avoid all that trolling, spamming and flaming you and your friends complain about but do on a regular basis in the Red Room. Oh and also you don't answer questions. :bailey:

So if you post a political thread in the Green Room and someone posts the same topic in the Red Room it's automatically to troll you?

Kinda stupid if you ask me. Kinda retarded that you're not able to prevent yourself from going into such a thread. Puts the lie to the, "I just wanted a chance to have real discussions again" line of thought.

You're the one bitching about the 'trolling'....and I can dig up a bunch of threads where you trolled EP, Dayton, Apostle, Sokar and a few others.

I must be confusing you with someone else, then. A few days ago, someone made a suggestion about creating a forum like TK's day-care. Anyone could make a thread calling for a poster or a thread (I don't remember which) to be confined there, then someone else would have to second it, after which it would simply be opened to a vote. If the vote went in that direction, the action would be taken.

I had in mind it was you, but I guess I was wrong. Sorry. In any case, it was a very, very, very bad idea.

Not at all. You really want to somehow read into my words something that backs up your ideas, don't you?

The Gray Room existed for a long time before I came here. When I was a TBBS mod (and that was for less than a year after WF was created) it was already here. I used to read it very regularly. And it had lots of suggestions about troll attacks on TBBS, including from some staff members here. As long as that was allowed, I did not want to participate regularly on WF. When that finally calmed down, I started posting here regularly. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Gray Room. To be perfectly honest, I don't even remember the time when the Gray Room was created very clearly, because I wasn't involved with WF enough back then to pay much attention. But since I did not want to be part of a board where openly plotting troll attacks on another board was allowed, I didn't participate much. And that had absolutely nothing to do with whether it was in the Red Room or the Gray Room.

And above all, we must have order, and no one should ever be confused about which room they're in.

Because we don't ever want to be anything like TBBS. Except when we do.

And we know what happens when you "assume."

True. The initial supposition was that we'd have to stipulate "please don't move this." However, I know I forgot to do so, and it looks as if others have as well.

As a side effect, I've noticed the quality of Red Room threads has improved somewhat.

I'm not seeing any downside or any harm to anyone. But I'm sure you'll point it out if it's there.

    As stated before: Irrelevant.

Even if true you are the one who still goes into the thread and post in the thread with the intention of destroying said thread. Unless I missed something no one has sent a "heavy" to your house and put a gun to your head to make you go into those "trolling" threads.
