    Define "we".
If "we" includes me, I had the riddle cracked during the debates with Hillary.
If "we" means full-blown MAGA-zombies, they'll die first.
If "we" means WF "libertarians" they've already pulled the "no, not meeee :?:" routine.
And you'll have to pop their fingernails off with a crowbar to get them to drop that act.

That was apparent the minute his approval ratings went up with every racist thing he said on the campaign trail and he tap-danced around his support of the Klan.

I assume this was a rhetorical question, no?

I have to totally agree. I would also need to add there is a "we" that is all about getting along at all costs and since the racists are allowed to do the worst beatings that "we" seems to want to stop calling them racists because the "we" that is the authorities lets them do violence.

I think it is painfully obvious that a large portion of society in majority white countries was doing lip service to the idea that diversity is good. This is where tribalism has gone to. Large proportions of people are still tribal. It is just that it is easier to move into a lot of areas so now we have a sort of floating tribalism or bubble tribalism. Racism really boils down to tribalism and xenophobia.

I am not sure how to actually eliminate this as it really becomes a root back to our existence as animals. The primitive tribe forming instinct is going to be hard to overcome and may even be a part of nature in the nature vs nurture paradigm. The specifics of which tribes may be learned, but the natural proclivity to be a part of a tribe may be really hard to overcome in society.

I think he is talking about those people who were acting as knights fore american ideals. The sort of people who would protect the crown of america because of it's divine mandate.

If only there was a word for such things. Something chivalrous and filled with the power of divine righteousness

My perception was that some were racist, and some were Over-correcting against PC authoritarianism. It IS a valid distinction , even if your programming refuses to acknowledge it.

What were the PC authoritarian messages you feel they disagreed with?

I suppose it's possible that not all of them didn't like the "don't use racial slurs/behaviour in public" one and the rest are just homophobes or anti-trans....

There is no “over-correcting against PC authoritarianism”. I do know real life people who want to be able to say vile things and not get called on it. I lost one friend because of this.

The people who are not assholes but still support trump are just mindless doorknobs who have been taught that liberalism is what is destroying the country. They support trump because he isn’t running as a Democrat.

Then there are the religious freaks who support him because to support a Democrat means to support abortion.

Seriously: You two need to go fuck yourselves.

I'm done engaging in any kind of meaningful discussion with stupid traitorous twats.

EDIT: Henceforth, my replies to your inane posts will consist of variations of: "Go fuck yourself, you miserable piece of shit."

I'd say it's the slide from expectation of polite tolerance between individuals, to active obligation proportionate to perceived marginalization. People don't like hearing that they didn't earn what they have or that they share in guilt for things they took no part in. That they have something to prove to strangers with no claim to any degree of deference.

Who gets to define "don't be an asshole" is the real sticking point there.

so you might be able to imagine how people who have very little hate being told they deserve even less?

you almost had it right at first. actual PC is simply that-polite tolerance-with a dash of empathy and forgiveness. your reactionary reaction is that you fear it as an obligation where someone might tell you you're somehow wrong.
see that's neither polite nor tolerant on your part.

also, nobody is accused of "taking part" in the past. the question is over how some have benefitted at the expense of others from the past and how we (as a society) should redress these inequities... Like here we've got a ton of reckoning to be had over native residential schools and the intergenerational traumas those have caused (like that guy I mentioned earlier who's father tried to set him on fire when he was 8-ya gotta ask what made that type of monster in the first place) or shit like Standing Rock or Wet'suwet'en where once again, people are being displaced for profit.

Regardless of how the phrase has evolved in our culture, technically, telling someone to fuck themselves is telling them to go have fun.
Now, getting specific, and telling him to fuck a pencil sharpener, that eliminates any ambiguity.

Racism is an ingredient the way that chocolate is an ingredient in chocolate mousse :borg:

We've had egomaniacs in office and ones with a cult of personality like Reagan but none of them put racism at the forefront quite like he has.

See, you CAN feel you're part of society! As long as it's finding a way to take umbrage.

I've been presented with a large amount of evidence that certain members of society have an advantage because of the way those members have historically treated other members.

I fall into the former group. I don't feel personally guilty, because I didn't do that shit.

You, apparently, think YOU are being personally accused of something. You aren't. You're being asked to recognise that this occurred and thus not lay undue blame on members of the second group for doing worse than you. And, if you HAD a heart, you might look for ways we can address the disparity. But at minimum just stop being a cunt.

Accused, yes. Lazily, by default, with no direct evidence pertaining to me specifically. And of course I reject it. I am responsible for what I control, and I only control myself.

"Deserving" in this context is just a way of demanding your claims be accepted on faith. A lazy way of sidestepping merit and accountability, because those CAN be supported objectively.

Some highly self-serving definitions there. Just leave it at a claim to power over free will.

If I didn't cause the problem, I accept no responsibility for dancing to anyone's tune about it.
