even worse, they tried to mess with Andy's revenue stream by complaining to the advertisers.

I guess the invisible hand of the market and all that...

If you mean making up shit on Twitter and getting advertisers to back out because because they can't be bothered to fact check Twitter accusations and basically get prosecuted in the court of public opinion then yes.

*Imagines FF holding a dead giant cartoon dollar (with bullet holes in its chest, and X-es on its eyes, and its tongue hanging out) and sobbing like Superman holding dead Supergirl on Crisis issue #6*
    Yeah, that's about right.
    That's conservative values.

I have to wonder if this is an attempt at reverse psychology after the backlash he got for recommending people get the vax. Yes, orange hitler's lies are so absurd this could be one of them, but what better way to make some of the Nazis rush out to get the vaccine than to say they cannot get it because it is all being given to non-whites?

The confused looks on the karens who believe this and show up demanding a vaccine just to be told to roll up their sleeves will be priceless.

Yep, he's right, I didn't get my vax, and when I saw "No Way Home" at the theater, I got covid and died.
It's so sad to be dead. :(

David Brooks has an interesting essay in The Atlantic about the hijacking of conservatism by Trumpism.

The reasons conservatism devolved into Trumpism are many. First, race. Conservatism makes sense only when it is trying to preserve social conditions that are basically healthy. America’s racial arrangements are fundamentally unjust. To be conservative on racial matters is a moral crime. American conservatives never wrapped their mind around this. My beloved mentor, William F. Buckley Jr., made an ass of himself in his 1965 Cambridge debate against James Baldwin. By the time I worked at National Review, 20 years later, explicit racism was not evident in the office, but racial issues were generally overlooked and the GOP’s flirtation with racist dog whistles was casually tolerated. When you ignore a cancer, it tends to metastasize.

The full article is well worth reading, although his admission that he was enthralled with socialism before he saw the light and became a conservative makes me wonder if he isn't just a follower instead of someone who reaches his own conclusions. He and other "conservatives" also ignored Dick "Richileu" Cheney's use of the hideous "unified executive" theory to grab power in contravention of everything conservatism is supposed to stand for.

It’s quite a defense of conservatism as a concept, and of the steelmanned version of American conservatism in particular. I do like the notion of being conservative for liberalism. But yeah, it totally ignores the Bush years (perhaps even pointedly so), and the analysis is incomplete without a word for why Romney’s campaign was the end. I’m also not sold on the idea that there’s not an inherent tendency for conservatism to slide into parochialism, xenophobia, etc. That wasn’t defended very well. It might not be possible; I don’t really think it is.

Yeah, it seems like he may be trying to justify to himself how he got caught up in a movement that he now sees as reprehensible (deplorable?). He, like a lot of Never Trumpers, also can't seem to face the role he played in enabling this to happen. There's a bitter WW II -era joke from Italy that Mussolini was the monkey who unlocked the tiger's cage. From Nixon's "Southern Strategy", "GHWB turning Lee Atwater loose with the Willie Horton ad", to the Unified Executive theory, Brooks and his compatriots like Nicole Wallace of MSNBC were playing right along and enjoying being on the "winning" side without any concern for the seeds they were sowing. JEB! Bush was every bit as contemptuous of the law as Trump, he was just more genteel about it. (He was also a competent governor. I didn't like him, but he was not incompetent). Then we had Rick Scott, who was contemptuous of everything about government, then Florida elected DeSantis. Brooks and company are willing to blame everyone else when they should be looking in the mirror and asking how they helped unlock the cage that released Trump. :brood:

This statement could have been said it a helpful educational way to explain how to not disrespect a jewish person. It could have been said that this is something against their beliefs that would be hurtful or disrespectful to them. The same could be said about forcing a muslim to draw muhammed. You could put it in a way that explains their beliefs and how to offer up respect and avoid disrespect. Instead the teacher offers it up as a way to torture someone.

I do not necessarily oppose an educational class on world religions in high school as an elective course, or one that that might satisfy a world history credit. This course seems to be an indoctrination course where students are taught hate instead of information. It is TN and that is what should be expected in such a place.
