Yes, we should. It's not Ramadan, it's Bastille Day. It's fucking monarchists. They're still pissed off about the whole guillotine thing and a holiday that celebrates a jail break.

As Obama will soon tell them, they also need to examine the rise of anti-pedestrian bigotry that's been fostered by voices on the right. Millions of pedestrians were allowed to flood into Europe and blue-collar truck drivers are very pissed off about it. Combine that with the way France allows people easy access to trucks and you've got a recipe for disaster. These kinds of vehicle attacks don't happen elsewhere, at least not with the same frequency. French drivers and pedestrians need to come together and move forward, because the arc of history bends toward cooperation and traffic laws that are fair to all people.

It does seem particularly important on a largely American board given that the U.S. has a staggering number of trucks. IIRC the Ford F-150 is still the most commonly sold vehicle in the U.S.

That doesn't necessarily implicate Islam as a motive, since Abu Omar Shishani might have had noble blood, tying things back to the Bastille Day angle. Nobles always stick up for each other.
