Harpoon does a decent job. Sam Adams varies year to year, this year was good, but often it's just midling level. Most smaller locals don't actually do an official Oktoberfest, going instead for a harvest beer. These usually involve more complex grains like rye. Exploring is best, spend some time at the Blanchard's in JP, which has a better selection than the one by your place, and experiment!

Does it? I parked by it today but I didn't go in. It was probably closed by the time I left though anyways. I tend to prefer the smaller companies and lean towards buying those since I like to support them more. If that's all I see for a fest beer, I'll probably buy one just to try it.

Should reviews of malt liquors &/or other malt beverages go in this thread? Or be a separate thread altogether?

IE: Beverages like Natty Daddy, Stack 9.9% Lager, Entc Ent al!

Exactly! That's why I was asking first. They're "beerish" to a degree, but NOT the same species. I guess if beer & ale are sharks, malt liquors & beverages would be rays.

Guinness Extra Stout tonight, I find it to be a nice creamy flavor with roasted flavor, and finishing with a hint of red wine/black cherry and a pleasant medium bitter aftertaste.

Yep. Mike's lemonades, the Smirnoff "stuff", and even wine coolers are all (or mostly) "malt beverages".

Yeah I have had that "Steel Reserve" before, It is NASTY.. but hobo's like it and college kids cause it's 8.1% alcohol. Enough to keep a hobo warm, and a 24 ounce can is only 69 cents at Kroger.

Beer Review #192 (First review on the NEW board)

Beer: San Miguel: Brewed Since: 1890 by Polo Brewery, Valenzuela City, Manila. Philippines
    Type of beer: Pilsner

    Color: Pale yellow
Smell: Very sweet smell like cereal
Taste: Sweet at first then hints of bitter
Drinkability: Don't like the bitter aftertaste.

Overall: If it's this beer or nothing, I guess it's ok, It leaves a weird aftertaste in your mouth. Not to cheap either, my solo bottle was 3 bucks, so I'll pass. :chuck:

    Beer review #193

Beer: Stiegl Goldbrau Premium Lager: Brewed Since: 1816 by Stiegl Brewing company, Salzburg, Austria
    Type of Beer: Golden Lager

    Color: Dark gold
Smell: Clean, almost no smell at all
Taste: Sweet grainy taste, very good
Drinkability: Very smooth, my 16 ounce bottle didn't last long

Overall: Beer of a bygone era, in what looked like a well used beer bottle. NOT east to get at all, and quite expensive. But worth trying, and if you can get it, worth buying.

I doubt I'll ever come across this, but I'll keep it in mind. When it comes to Austria, I prefer Bohemia.

Natty Daddy is better than Steel Reserve. SR isn't half-bad imo.

I do have small hands, but otherwise, I'd say no. It's not as though they're manicured or anything. Also, that's a friggin' oil can, its massiveness no doubt distorts the rest of the image.
