(We got in trouble a few years back with the UN because we were breaking the convention on boy soldiers by allowing 16 and 17 years olds to sign up. So now they get sent to 'Army College' - basic training, but with the guarantee that you won't get sent anywhere nasty till you turn 18. It's how nephew spent most of the year he was 17 in Poland and Germany. )

BTW Americans use Land Rovers sometimes too - not all our vehicles in the sandbox are tactical military vehicles. I know when I was there I'd have loved the option of air conditioning, beverage holders and music. I figure when your time is up (and you get attacked) your time is up, and type of vehicle is only a small factor, since we didn't have armored vehicles anyway in my unit.
