One thing I wish was that there was a way to get the saves pictures from a console save. I can save the data to a flash drive, I just wish someone out there could figure out how to get those shots from the save.

I have a tendency to save at interesting times, like explosions and such. Sometimes it's a pose or an oddity.

    I can hope. :sigh:

Abandoned my second playthrough at level 20 for two reasons:

    1. The char wasn't progressing the way I wanted

    2. I modded the living shit out of the game today (textures, models, weapons, sex, companions... you name it) and decided to start fresh with a new char- this one's a bit of a night scout / ranger / spec ops sort.

    I'm about 6 hours in...

I haven't been this addicted since DAO... :calli:

Caboose, as much as you obviously love this game you are going to HAVE to play it on the PC eventually, modded up.

My current guy is McQuade, based on JJ McQuade from Lone Wolf McQuade. He's an absolute badass- I even made the character a decent Chuck Norris avatar.

I used the 'want to be a ranger' mod, which gives him faction-free NCR Ranger Armor, a Ranger Sequoia, and a .50 Cal sniper rifle. I also have a cowboy lever rifle tricked out to the max, with lots of cowboy style and combat perks. I took down Vault 3 with nothing but that Sequoia pistol. You don't need more than five rounds at a time when each one blows motherfuckin' heads off. :storm:

He also used an amped up minigun and a few incendiary grenades to clear out that entire deathclaw nest at Deathwind Cavern in record time- including the so-called 'Legendary Deathclaw.' When LD meets Chuck Norris, you KNOW who's going to win...

Oh, and I'm playing on hardcore now, and finding that I actually like it better than the normal way. Living in the mohave, it makes sense that you have to stay hydrated, and it makes my character avoid beer and whiskey a little more... :calli:

Here's a question for more veteran players:

Which weapons (if any) can you use 'unarmed?' Do brass knuckles count as unarmed or is that a melee weapon? What about some of the others? Power fists and such?

Yeah, basically anything you wear on your hands - Brass Knuckles, Spiked Knuckles, Power Fists, Displacer Gloves, and the various animal gauntlets like Mantis, Deathclaw, and Yaoi Guai.

There's a really nasty one in Old World Blues called Saturnite Fist.

Boxing tape and gloves are unarmed and do fatigue to knock guys out.

Unarmed can be a viable choice, especially if you choose the right perks. Knocking down opponents is brutally effective because you can continue to pummel them while they are trying to get up.

Working on the GRA challenges I found that Love and Hate won't do the trick you have to have a set of spiked knuckles for the Mojave 'bots one.

Having a hell of a time with the Deathclaw one, only 2/5 atm and for some reason kills I've made that should do it for some reason won't. Dynamite didn't work when I tried it but I'll surely try it again elsewhere.

I love that The Toaster conversion of the Saturnite Fist is even "hotter".

A few more pics - decided to track down all of Ulysses tapes and hear his story. Between that and getting all of Ed-e's upgrades, it gave me some nice options in the final conversation which allowed me to talk him down.

When I went back to the Divide, he was still there, and had a lot of dialogue options. Very nice touch.

And I decided to nuke the Legion, which opens up a new radioactive wasteland town.

Got to level 50 and decided to take the 'thought you died' perk - the extra 10% damage and 100 hits are nice, and I like the legendary touch to the character, very Man With No Name-esque.

Going to go back now and kill House. Originally I thought the character would need him to run the bots, but Karsk's Science is up to 92 now, and after the Big Empty it's hard to see him not being interested in being aware enough of the principles to think he doesn't need House. The fact House wants him to kill the brotherhood and Victoria was his first and longest companion just seals the deal.

    Overall, Very cool game. :)

Looking to some of the new mod content too - Rust Town and Warzone are up to be sure.

My latest char is Kinjo, basically a frakkin' Ninja who uses a katana with the signature weapons mod, which allows it to be gradually upgraded in different respects. I've concentrated it on being defensive (adding to my own DT over time), penetrating (disregarding opponent's DT = armor piercing) and rapid. (Lower AP costs in VATS and bullet time).

I was thinking I'd have to use guns sometimes- turns out I really don't. I really, really don't. :bergman:

Yeah, a melee character with the right perks is absolutely devastating, especially in the later stages of the game.

Trying out a few more mods including faction warfare around the cities and active patrols by the factions, plus Private Gilbert companion. We've traveled to Rust City, and are hunting bounties right now in the Mojave.

New Vegas Bounties is a great mod, with an underlying storyline to it. A couple of those encounters resulted in ugly deaths and reloads, and that doesn't happen to me too often- I'm a pretty good tactical player. Haven't played the sequel yet.

Kinjo hasn't gone head to head with the Deathclaws yet with his katana- but it's coming. My worry is that the DC's don't usually engage alone. Where there's one, there's many more. Getting swarmed by those fuckers is one of the fastest, easiest ways to perish in the mojave.

Sniping them with a .50 cal (incendiary whenever possible :tasvir:) from cover is one thing- going mano e mano at melee range is a different problem entirely.

Managed all but one of the achevements, the one for thirty games of Caravan.

I managed the last of the GRA challenges today, the pro (***) one.

With that I ended up going back to square one at Doc Mitchell's place after kicking around with my main character till I got bored.

This time I went to the NCRCF before I went to talk to Trudy in Goodsprings.
I hadn't been that route, I usually just start whacking them at Goodsprings.

That's about as far as I've gotten in this one.

I was originally planning on trying to assassinate Caesar with one of my nightstalker/ninja style guys, then found it totally unnecessary to go stealth when my Ranger McQuade Chuck Norris clone walked into the tent with his big ass Sequoia pistol and took out the lot of them in pure John Wayne badassery fashion.

I also played a nerdy character with uber high science and repair skills. Some of the quests resolve in....somewhat bizarre ways when approached this way. I'm thinking specifically of Tabitha and Rhonda up on Black Mountain....

Yeah, Black Mountain was fun, really quirky, and the resolution with Rhonda was great fun. Really a good bit of writing there.

I did go the Ninja route against Caesar, killed him with a hold out weapon,

I'm actually not playing through GRA - the Calibre mod already gave me more weapons than I could do anything with, and I like the old weapons from the first two series. Didn't want to take a chance of a conflict there. Plus with the other DLC's there's tons of named weapons - most of which I've never gotten around to in the first place!

Decided in my last game to route the power at Helios one out into the Wasteland for the Followers, and that segued great into adding the Electro City mod. I'm at the point where I don't want to go to much further down the main quest arc because that will soon end the game, and there's lots more modded adventures I want to try!

But because I've killed Caesar, nuked the Legion, and generally kicked enough ass to give Vegas a breather from their depredations I've added the 'restored' Mod versions showing the fact that life is getting better, and added all the interiors mods to fully flesh out more dozens of more buildings across the Wasteland to have something to explore.

Going to check out Dog City (Denver), check out Rust Town some more, do Vegas Bounties II, and then load Warzones as the Legion recovers and more serious fights start breaking out across the Wasteland.

Just finished Deserter's Fortress, a very good little mod for about 2-3 hours of play time. Had some nice DLC feel elements to it, including an opening slide show. Wasn't much story to it, so I made up my own - and sent a recommendation to the creator to add an official story to tie it into the Fallout Universe better. You can really do that easily in Fallout mods just by adding computer log entries, journals, and if you have the skills audio logs, and sprinkling them through the adventure.

The story I came up with to match the elements that were presented in the Mod was:

Morrison was a great soldier, fighting for a decade for the Bear against all the chaos and ugliness of the world. He sought to bring order to the cacophony of selfishness around him, to change it to the vision of the Bear. But he himself was changed by his work.

One of the leaders of the troops at Bitter springs, he was disavowed by the NCR after the massacre. Taking up with a rogue Senator who thought the NCR wasn't extreme enough to win against the Legion, they began to work on using the mutated creatures of the Mojave into a weapon against the Legion. The Senator had resources and backing from the Brahmin lords, and they saw in Morrison a fire that could do what Hanlon couldn't, or simply woudn't, do.

But Morrison realized that wasn't going to be enough. Knowing of the great disaster that befell some of his friends further to the East, he traveled to the Divide, looking for answers to win the war. His battles with the Marked Men earned him their respect. Then he met Ulysses who was there looking for answers of his own. His talks with Ulysses made him reconsider what he was doing, and he realized the flag of the Bear wasn't what he wanted. The great secrets of the Divide giants eluded him, but he returned with new allies and weapons.

He took control of the funding from the Senator for researchers and technicians, and created the base, utilizing a cadre of Marked Men he converted with his charisma that he brought out of Hopeville. He brought back the commissary technology to heal his men. Between the secrets he gleaned there and the research on the Death Claws and Tunnelers into a weapon he saw a way to cut out his own nation in the Southwest. Unlike Ulysses, he didn't desire to restore a flag. He sought to make a flag of his own.

He was a player that if given time could have changed the face of the Mojave. But before he could become a true threat to the great powers, he ran into a legend whose story was greater than his own. And thus faded from memory, a soldier who sought to change the very nature of war to his own ends.

    But war...
    War never changes.

With the limited saves and in trying to not overwrite some of my better runs I've taken to naming the runs and marking them with the particular weapon used as an identifier.

Medicine Stick was the first and Ratslayer is the current one.

Running out of ways to run this.

In my last playthrough I'm pretty sure freelance ranger Lone Wolf McQuade killed every last motherf-----g deathclaw in the entire Mohave Wasteland. Rendered them EXTINCT.

And that includes the Uber-alpha DC in Dead Winds Cavern and his brood.

Well, I volunteered to add some story into the Deserter's Fortress mod, and the owner of the mod just up gave it to me - he's off to do Skyrim (and I'm helping him a bit with that in terms of storyline). This guy is a hell of a modder.

Deserter's Fortress by Dree74 has a real DLC feel, including an opening slide show, new crafts, new perks, a good sized adventure, and a very memorable main villain, plus a cool quest to collect the Seven Deadly Sins - special weapons given by the bad guy to his Lieutenants.

I've added a back story explaining all of this within the context of the lore of the Mojave, and explaining what the bad guy, a 1st Recon deserter who is more than a little bit of a badass was planning on doing with all of these toys.

There's a tie in with some other mods, a nice Easter Egg or three, and I plan on expanding the mod a bit now to make the story tighter.

Anyway, its up here if anyone wants to try it:

    http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=44717

My contribution is minor compared to what Dree and his team did, but I'm happy with it. I want to expand the compex a tad more which will give me more room to make the story more organic.

Fella, you just redeemed the ever loving hell outta yourself with Skin. Skin's a modder from way back, recoding the AI for the Battlefield 1942 realism mod Forgotten Hope. If you ever played that, and if you were in the Battlefield mod community, you probably heard of the Forgotten Hope: Steel Cross mod. That was Skin that authored that entire minimod, under the name Legion.

If Skin can get Fallout:NV running via Crossover on his Mac, he'll give your mod a run-through, and Skin expects big things.
