I'm saying it happened, and no one in charge has called me a liar.

Do you think this thread would still be open if I was making shit up?

If Garamet was able to let us know back in April when and where a violation of the personal info rule had taken place without being banned/having her post flushed down the memory hole then I think that you'd probably be able to do the same.

Yes because the people in charge are nuts. After all according to you it took them two days to even notice your crying reported posts to them....

Spill the beans you big :crybaby:

If you think that's flaming then you need to go to this board:

You really don't need to be here.

There is no board by that specific name but there are plenty of boards around that are like the name in that picture. Surly you can find one like:

Using the Help Desk as a platform to whine "Ban Jamey!!! Ban him now!!! :weep: " after reporting his alleged "offense" to the staff isn't very helpful either IMHO!

Oh you mean the issue of you accusing Jamey of using your first name in his sig because apparently Tamar told everyone on TK what your first name was?

    That issue?

The issue where no one here knew what your first name was?

    That issue?

    You're a :crybaby:

So you admit he broke the rule.

Can you explain why he hasn't been banned for it?

I didn't admit shit about anything.

I'm simply bringing up what you say the issue was in the rep you gave me at TK instead of being man enough to say it out in the open here on the board.

But feel free to go back to whining like a :crybaby: in this thread over an alleged incident of someone using your first name.

So this isn't just an attempt to stir up drama? You really think that throwing a hissy fit in the Help Desk about something you already made the Staff aware of will make them suddenly realize "Oh shit, we need to permaban that guy!"?

No, it's an attempt to get the rules enforced evenly.

That I actually had to start a fucking HD thread about it is bullshit.

Since it already took them two days just to have the offending material removed, I don't have much faith in them doing it on their own.

Compare this to how quickly Faceman and garamet got banned, it's ridiculous.

While we are talking about first names, why don't we also mention 14th Doc's use of other people's first names in topics in the Red Room?

I served a ban for that. Presumably, if I did something like that again, I'd be permabanned. I accepted that.

Except Peter breaks the same rule a second time and doesn't get banned, so who knows what the policy is now?

So then Scorp was incorrect, and "the Tamarchives" (i.e. Google) is not an acceptable source of trolling material?

Another question: personal info about me was on several occasions posted here by somebody I know IRL, but when I started a thread (in the Blue Room!) about that person, it was deleted and I was cautioned not to reveal personal info. Would a similar situation be handled differently under the new regime?

14thDoctor disagrees: Please stop flaming me in the Help Desk, good sir.

Perhaps you can start a Help Desk thread in two days after reporting me to the mods as surly you've done by now.

    Right snitch?

All I want is consistency. I don't recall a long delay when Face was banned, or when garamet was banned.

I think we're talking past here.

I was giving an explanation for why we have such a specific and on the surface sometimes unfair looking rule. It's because at times when the rule was more vague and trusted people to be able to use some good judgment it didn't work.

We do emphasize that this is how the rule works every time the subject comes up so I'm not sure why you are saying that we should. Regardless, you should know better than anyone else that telling someone "this is how the rule is, deal with it" is not the best way to stop them complaining about it.

We don't need to "put your damn foot on the throats of those who whine about Garamet's name being used." as you put it because people are free to complain all they want, the rule isn't going to be changed because of their complaining but they are free to do so. What exactly do you suggest we do to those people besides repeating what the rule is and why?

Only that's not the rule as enforced. It has sometimes been enforced as if not only information X, posted by its owner, is free game, but also any information Y found by X+internet, such as X+google. At other times, even X+browser was considered off-limits when X was a fucking link.

    No.

Nor can anybody flame people in the Help Desk forum. All that stops right now. There is an entire forum where flaming is welcomed, it's called the Red Room.

It is being discussed in the Shelter right now, my opinion is it doesn't matter how the info was shared, the ban hammer has to drop on everyone who shares another member's personal information.

If for no other reason than consistency.

BBS Lawyerball is a game no one wins. In this case the problem lies in the means of sharing personal info.

To me it doesn't matter, however shared, personal info is a no go.

I think your opinions are best kept in the Shelter since they are not presently shared by the staff as a whole and the debate has not yet concluded.

Whatever, I'm just thinking that sometimes people in positions of reasponsibility should be careful about what they disclose to the masses.
