Liverpool were the better team today.
    I don't think that it's a surprise.
Liverpool are close to Chelsea in talent,
and ahead of them in organization.

Today's game was a fair test.
Cech, Gallas and Joe Cole were missing for Chelsea.
While Gerrrard, Alonso and Bellamy came on for Liverpool
    in the second half.

Mourinho needs to choose between Lampard and Ballack.
Not that either of them are that great.

Nobody's going to run away with the Premiership title this year.

well, neither liverpool or chelsea have shone in the pre-season matches, whilst arsenal are looking dangerous.

chelsea might be in trouble as lampards looking like he's hitting a bad run of form - and i'm not sure why you say he's not that great as he's been the most productive player in the premiership for the last 2 seasons - and it remains to be seen if ballack can make up for that.

liverpool have difficulty maintaining quality over a season, and if they manage that they'll be serious challengers, but i don't think they will.

chelsea or arsenal to win the title, liverpool a very close third with either manure or the spuds taking 4th spot.

and in 10 months we'll find out how very wrong i am :D

How is it that we have acquired the name "Spuds"? Seen it elsewhere, but baffled as to its origins.

Easier to reel off then shitcunts? ;)

It's nothing more glamourous then it's an easy and mildy amusing way to change spurs to spuds. Much in the same way your lot say spammers instead of hammers.

    Who says originality is dead.

A certain Mr Poll might be in for a difficult season... He booked one of ours on Saturday, and immediately half the crowd started waving yellow cards and singing 'He only needs two more...'

well, looking like becks england career is over - gerrard is getting his position tomorrow, and if he plays in that position as well for england as he does liverpool then i can't see goldenballs getting a look in.

Hey, just try keeping up with me this season, eh. Preferably within 100 points reach, which you failed to do so last season. :finger:

Seems as if you're right tho, it is a lot harder to pick a team this year within the £100M budget! It's a but unfair, the sneaky bastards have left the players with the high values they gained last season but still limit you to just £100M to spend!

    Market forces, mate!

It means we have to look at some of the less successful teams to bring in some cheap players! It'll be like there are more than five teams in the league! :soma:

Becks is not going to get ahead of Gerrard, Lennon, SWP or maybe even Pennent (who is a better natural winger), so his England career is as good as over. Can't say I'll be shedding any tears over it.

I've done exactly that, my new team is devoid of the superstars I had last season. :(

The thing I'm finding is that--unlike last year--in order to reorganise a couple of players, I'm having to rework my entire team. That doesn't bode well for transfers once the game has begun.

you can get some big names if you;re willing to take a few risks - my (probably) final team for saturday:

    GK: Jaaskelainen (BW)
    DEF: Terry (CHE)
    DEF: Taylor (POR)
    DEF: Carragher (LIV)
    DEF: Knight (FUL)
    MID: Rosicky (ARS)
    MID: Duff (NEW)
    MID: Gerrard (LIV)
    MID: O'Shea (MU)
    FWD: Bellamy (LIV)
    FWD: Berbatov (TOT)

with Kenny (GK, SU), Pederson (FWD, BW), McCulloch (MID, WIG) and DeMerit (DEF, REA) as subs.

getting a henry ain't happening this year, but with the likes of benni mccarthy, jason roberts, berbatov likely to be scoring well, you don't really need to chuck all your eggs in one basket.

Hmm looks like hargreaves might be going to united. Not sure if he would be a good signing or not

Do you think that o'shea's going to get a game with Scholes, Carrick and Giggs all in central mid plus the possibility of hargreaves?

If they play him in defence you will only get the midfielder points for him rather than the 7 for a defender clean sheet.

^carricks injured for the time being, so i'm going to see if o'shea replaces him. if not i'll swop him with mcculloch after a couple of weeks and sniff around for a replacement midfielder.

Hargreaves would be a great pick-up for United,
but he has four years left on his contract with Bayern Munich,
so there wll be a substantial transfer fee.

O'Shea was listed as a defender in last year's fantasy game.
    He scored 129 points.
As a mid-fielder, he would have received 101 points.

half time and its 4-0

hopings its not a false dawn, after all the greeks are hardly top drawer (although neither was our opposition in the world cup group stage) and teams generally have a blinder when theres a change of manager.

only dark spots are defoe going offside too easily, and crouch looking a bit heskey at times. hopefully experience will change both of those.

terrys looking like a good choice of captain - the team looks alive and fired up, and he's certainly leading by example.

we keep going this against the brazils, germanys and italy's of the world and we'll get trophies

How crap are the Greeks? European Champions indeed. Good stuff from England though.
Michael Owen can stay injured, Crouchy is England's new goal machine. :robot:

I wouldn't have a Liverpool striker if I were you, no telling which one Rafa the mad genuis will pick now. He cocked up today but a point's better than nothing.

My FF team have got off to a decent start, although I could have done with a goal from one of my strikers. Sheva's up tomorrow, Defoe and his useless Spurs team aren't going to be scoring today. :jayzus:

Maybe I should have got Lampard too, given his talent for scoring with deflections. Has the fat fucker ever scored with a cleanly struck shot in his life?

Fecking miserable start to the new footie season. The fantasy one hasn't been great either!
