Have you ever been charged with a crime?

Just an anonymous poll, because I'm curious and saw a similar thread elsewhere last night. Feel free to disclose in thread or not.

Naturally, I am squeaky clean....

Never as an adult. Got in trouble for a few things as a kid but I got to take some class so it didn't go on my record.

So, so far WF has two crims and someone with something to hide!

Yeah, I guess the key word here would be convicted and not committed or charged.

did a year and a half in medium over a fight when I was 18.

a couple of minor possessions for weed or shrooms in my 20s that were discharged over "stop and frisk/fishing expeditions".

Oh, and my license was suspended once.

Now if you'd asked about all the things I could have been arrested/convicted of (or juvenile stuff, come to think of it)...

I did get a speeding ticket once. Going 63 in a 45 mph. zone.

Arrested/charged, spent a night in jail, pled Youthful Offender, charges dismissed and all records sealed (Alabama gives younger folks one Get Out of Jail Free card).

Ought to be careful driving like that. You could hit someone.

No one else around. I was headed home from work at my first job and exiting a town I had to go through. I knew the speed went back to 55 down the road so I was accelerating. The 55 mph sign was just a couple of hundred yards ahead but I had accelerated beyond that anyway.

150 dollar fine. But they knocked off 10 since I was wearing a seat belt.

Note, though I have been ticketed only once I have been stopped by the police many times. Once when I cut through the parking lot of a gas station to get around a red light.

The officer stopped me but when he saw who it was he sent me on without citation.

How did you know that when you were speeding?

So you're a pretty irresponsible driver then?

Great policing.

I'm a very responsible driver. Slower than most. I consistently stay within the speed limits. I'm courteous to other drivers and make allowances for possible emergencies and mistakes.

By any reasonable measure I'm an excellent driver. Which is pretty much a requirement to have a CDL with a passenger endorsement.

I committed a felony hit and run once but nobody knows about it.

For the second time in my life, I'm guilty of committing a crime. Parole violation. 'Course I doubt they'll throw up any road blocks, not for an old crook like me.

Not quite; Pee Wee Herman gets caught wanking by the police in a theater, while the Flashlight gets caught wanking by his mom in her basement.

True. After all, in theatres he can't get access to all his dumb rating screenshots.

Similar story for me: I found out where the boundary was when I was a teenager. Nothing on my record today.
