It would be physically damn near impossible. My 590 has a magazine that runs all the way to the end of the barrel and it holds maybe nine 2 3/4 shells (and I think that includes one in the pipe). I guess you might be able to engineer some kind of staggered box mag that would have that kind of capacity, but it would be sort've a solution in search of a problem. [Edit: I suppose you could set a gun up in a bullpup config and have a 14 shot underbarrel mag.]
Ah. I looked closer at the setup in the OP. ... This is, without a doubt, the best zombie gun ever made. :bittersweet:
I read this thread and then visited the Facebook page for the gun shop I buy from. Guess what was posted. Go ahead, guess. That's right: they're going to carry this Kel-Tec.
Let's put it this way. There's no way I could ever get a license for one of those in Sweden, but if I could, boy, would it be worth $800...
The awesome thing is...well among the many awesome things... I'm not that upset about it being a pump. I know they've made great inroads with fast reliable semiauto shotguns, but when you start factoring in the huge variety of shells and loads I like the security of a pump. And unless you're doing fire suppression a pump is fast enough for something that kicks like a 12 gauge. But the idea of twin mag tubes is revolutionary--in the " why didn't I think of that" way. And the bullpup setup moves your center of gravity way back, making the thing point a lot faster for changing between targets quickly. It is also handy for room entry. With a Mossberg or a Remington it is almost like the opening scene in "Star Wars", with the Star Destroyer coming on screen--that's a whole lot of gun that needs to get into the room and pointed at a target before it can come into play. Here they've got something that has the punch of a shotgun that points more like an MP5. Very handy. I'm not an urban combat expert but I'd say put one of these guys about third on a stack entering a room. Get a couple submachineguns, suppressing and have this as the knockout punch.
I'm told Keltec will be present at a gun show here in Virginia in the near future. With this wonderful new toy at their booth.
I can tell who has and who has not fired thousands of rounds from a shotgun. I do not own the first 3" 12ga shell. Every round of buckshot I own is Federal's LE Low Recoil "Tactical"* 2-3/4" 00 Buck. * - That word is really getting played out.
My Turkey gun is a single shot gun that is... very, very light. It takes 3.5" magnums. Every time I kill a Turkey, I'm not sure which one of us has won.
UA: "I want the biggest 12 gauge I can get!" Everyone Else: "Get a 10 gauge!" UA: "But it doesn't balance magazine capacity with firepower!" You know the thing about those 3" shells is that they're longer, and the magazine has a finite length.
Your shoulder will disagree! No shit: those 3" shells kick like a mule. For home defense, a 2 3/4" is plenty. Remember those dead raccoon pics? I eviscerated that raccoon with a 2 3/4" birdshot round at 10 yards.
Am I to understand you'd like a shotgun for decapitating zombies and you think 2-3/4" 12 gauge buckshot loads may be inadequate for the task? I wouldn't worry about it.
I'm rather fond of birdshot for personal defense. At close ranges, the hydro-shock like effect is awesome.
The stock shell holder thingy on my shotgun holds 4 extra 2-3/4" shells, and two 3" shells in case of cave trolls.
