Sure, I give KelTec props, but damn. I can buy a Remington Marine Magnum for $400 and I know it will work all day every day for the rest of all of our lives without fail. Sorry, KelTec, but you're simply not worth 2x the price. :bailey:

Edit: And, before any of you jizz your pants about mag capacity... According to FBI stats, the number of rounds fired during a lethal force encounter involving a shotgun is 1.6. The seven rounds in my Marine Magnum are more than a enough.

Don't be shocked, but one of the Lt's I know is hoping to make a mint off just that. He's trying to copyright/patent several common everyday devices with the word "tactical" and other whizbang names added so that he can cash in as this shit grows.

He's also trying to design a line of "tactical" gadgets that every new Academy graduate will drop cash on while every veteran laughs at them for buying bullshit they don't need.

Yeah, that's a pretty cool scattergun, but I can't justify it at that price.

I've got a 590 that works just fine.

Si. The Winchester 1200 I bought in, what, 1979, is still going strong.

I was issued a Winchester 1200 along with the rest of my kit when I was a brand new rookie. It was in such poor shape that I discarded it and carried my Coach Gun.

    ahhhhhhh......but averages don't mean nothing..........

Let's say you've got 100 guys shooting with 160 rounds fired. Sure the average is 1.6.

But let's say today is your lucky day. Really lucky. Win the lottery type lucky day.

Guys 1-99 fire one shot each. You as number 100 have to fire the other 61 rounds.

    Average is still 1.6 :bailey:

    :nyer:

But yeah the gun is way overpriced. It's more of a expensive toy because other guns which can do the job just as well are cheaper.

But it looks really cool and will make squishy liberal gun-grabbers wet their pants. Isn't that worth a few extra $ ?

I can see a definite application for this, depending on how it works. With the two mags, if you have any control over which mag you're feeding from you could put buck or slugs or something in one and something less lethal in the other. And it looks to be compact enough that you could carry two, giving you 28 shotgun blasts on a "New York reload."

Yeah and if you shoot someone with a lethal round instead of a less then lethal round and some asshole DA decides to charge you the DA will be standing in front of a jury talking about how you intended to kill when you could have defended yourself with a less then lethal round.

So what does that mean? It means carry lethal rounds in both mags. :bailey:

Oh and you do have control over which mag is loading. There is a switch under the gun.

Still better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

And truth be told, if I'm in an application where I'm carrying a pair of these, that's a situation where trials and DAs are not an issue.

Are you agreeing with me or not agreeing with me?

Because I'm saying no to the non-lethal and yes to everything being lethal.

Agreed. Police 101 is to never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever mix lethal and less-than-lethal tools together. My horror is thinking I'm firing a taser shotgun shell when I'm actually firing a slug. That's why bean bag, OC, and taser shells go in the shotgun with the bright yellow pump handle and stock.

I'm agreeing. For me, I don't have any non-lethal stuff. Elwood does and I see his point.

I want some of those Taser shells.

A few things that were more defined in the video:
    1. It is chambered for 3" but will feed 2 3/4. Special purpose 3" rounds have to be chambered manually.
    2. There is a neutral spot on the magazine switch. This allows you to "clear" the weapon while retaining loaded chamber. I predict this will end in lawsuits one day after negligent dischargers kill someone and need a scapegoat.
    3. That thing sits CLOSE to the shooter. Nice and tight in the pocket.
    4. Just like the M-16, it has reduced muzzle rise due to the barrell and chamber being in line with the top of the butt.

Man the more I think about the more I want one but hell I don't want to pay that much for a shotgun when I can pick up an 870 for $300-$400 dollars.

It's a hefty pricetag, but I like the features of the Keltec. The gun shop I buy from has it on their Facebook page. I'm anxious to see their pricetag. They always cut a good deal.

Yup. For most people, for basic home defense--hell even for most paramilitary applications--a decent riot pump will get the job done. But if you need a compact weapon with high capacity--things like house fighting--this would be worth the money.

Slight difference there. If an 870 was 1/10 the price of this Keltec shotgun I'd already have multiple 870's.

Or are you saying an 870 is not capable of doing the job?

I'm not driving a shotgun around town. A shotgun like this would have two purposes in its life.

    #1 Home Defense

#2 Showing off at the range

Do I need a 14 round pump action shotgun? Probably not. If I get into that type of firefight, where I need that many shotgun rounds, in my living room, I've probably got way bigger problems then the shotgun can probably handle.

Plus I look at the price.....

I can get this for several hundred or I can get a 870. Or I can get a AK with 30 round magazines......

Eh. I think apostle's analogy holds. There's nothing wrong with the Cobalt. It is a sporty little car that is reliable, gets you around, and is economical to buy and operate. A Corvette is expensive and flashy. If you were prone to do a lot of high-speed precision driving--something the vast majority of drivers don't do--it wins hands down over a Cobalt and is worth paying the premium for.

I'll say one more time, the thing this KelTec shotgun would be most useful for is if you're part of a four man team, doing room clearing in an urban environment. It, mixed in with some P90s or compact MP5s and some flash-bangs (or even conventional grenades) and some intensive training and you've got a pretty formidable capability--whether you're military, police, or just doing home invasions. :ramen:
