    Is the Lake District near the Peak District? I visited/went camping in the Peak District in the early 80's. Really nice area.

    Its about 80 miles away, and even though ive only driven through it i want to get there to do some walking.

    Interesting factoid about the Peak District... there arn't any peaks in it :)

    What kind of work do people do in Ambleside? It's so damn perfect, but I can't imagine how anyone would get the opportunity to move there unless they're independently wealthy.

    Theres a few businesses there, lots of tourism.
    Lancaster University used to have some small campus buildings up there... nice place to study :)
