Yeah, that probably should be edited out....not technically NSFW....but still not really appropriate.

It is very appropriate given all the spin people like henryhill are having to employ in order to justify their support of global warming. :borg:

So the world has been changing for millions of years quite happily by itself, but, suddenly humans are now in control of this.

I dont understand what that smiley is for, but, if you actually decide to watch the video, he holds up the official NASA report, and the picture that goes with it.

    Enjoy being wrong, faggot.

I've removed the image from this post. Borderline child porn. Do NOT post stuff like that here, Kirk. Next one gets warned.

Too cold to snow? On earth? Haha.

Unless the temperature is -273C, it is always possible to snow.

Anyway, since when is snow needed to make the water freeze? If it wants to freeze, it will do it regardless as the temperature is usually always below 0C.

    http://expertvoices.nsdl.org/polar/...n-contrast-to-climate-change-computer-models/

The IPCC climate models overestimated warming in the Antarctic by a factor of 2.5 to 5 times.

Observed temperature change in the Antarctic since 1900 is 0.2 centigrade, a third less than the 0.6 centigrade average of the Earth in the same time frame.

    http://wattsupwiththat.wordpress.co...models-fail-at-antarctic-warming-predictions/

Also, the trend recently is cooling for the majority of the Antarctic, not warming:
    http://www.worldclimatereport.com/index.php/2008/02/27/antarctica-ain’t-cooperating/

The one exception is the antarctic peninsula - the location that was already the most habitable and therefore had the majority of the weather stations recording data:

^ Which is exactly what Demiurge's post shows, i.e., that is not an argument for global warming.

A great smug comment from the master.

Dude, pretty much all over the world, records have been kept of daily temperatures for a lot more than the past 100 yrs.

So within a few hours, you have switched from "global warming is bullshit because it's actually getting colder" to "global warming is bullshit because all planets are getting warmer"!

How about you come back when you have an opinion on what is actually happening? Opposing GW does not turn several contradictory beliefs about the climate into a coherent view.

    Both can be true.

If other planets are getting warmer, then global warming isn't caused by humans.

If many places on Earth are getting colder, then global warming may not be happening on Earth at all.

It all comes down to equivocation on the word "global warming." Sometimes, it means a change of climate wherein the average temperature of the Earth increases. Other times, it means that PLUS the idea it's caused by humans (more properly called "anthropogenic global warming").

No one disputes global warming is possible; after all, North America and Europe are no longer covered by glaciers. It's the anthropogenic part that's the sticking point.

Global temperature change is an argument for global warming. Only focusing on the arctic (pro-) or antarctic (anti-) isn't. Hell, I was suffering through 104° degree heat today. Am I starting threads claiming it's proof for global warming?

As Demiurge's links state the average temperature has gone up in Antarctica, just not as much as the rest of the globe (or what models predicted). There are a lot of interesting reasons for that but subtleties are very easy to ignore when your goal is torpedoing a complex issue.

No. The claim "The Earth is getting colder!" and the claim "All planets are getting warmer!" cannot both be true.

I don't think he made the claim that ALL planets were getting warmer, only that Mars was exhibiting global warming, a claim henryhill asked him to document with a link from NASA and which he was able to provide.

Contradictory would be saying that because 95% of Antarctica is getting colder and 5% is getting warmer, the world is warming.

He made the claim that solar winds are causing global warming on Mars. The obvious implication is that solar winds should affect Earth in a similar manner; and if for some reason they don't, the whole point is moot anyway.

You're hedging. He said Mars and, although he did speculate on the cause, he did not say ALL the planets are experiencing warming and therefore your claim of contradiction is false.

"Too cold to snow" was the case when I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Technically the climate was semi-desert and it was 20 below zero
(that's below zero, not just below freezing!) but with clear skies.
We didn't end up with anywhere near as much snow as the mountains in California, for example).

    :wtf:

That leaves me with two questions:

    (1) Why aren't solar winds affecting Earth?

    (2) Assuming that they aren't, what have solar winds on Mars got to do with any debate about global warming on Earth at all?

Its more to do with planets will do what they want, and its nothing to do with us, fool.
