I apologize if these threads have offended ya'll, btw. I came here because MAOHS told me about this place, and he said many here love guns. :(

A lot of us do enjoy collecting, owning, and shooting guns. However, we're a minority on this board, and while I could ramble on about one topic or another for days on end, it's not something you really do all the time in polite company.

Being a licensed instructor and armorer, I'm well versed in the technical aspects and I enjoy the hell out of it. But, if that's all I ever talked about, people would start to believe that I'm a wee bit obsessed...

On further thought, what do you think of "OutdoorForge?" All things hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, off-roading etc?

Shooting is my main hobby right now. I would say I am obsessed. In two months, I'll be obsessed with Turkey hunting. :shrugs:

I'm wondering why one has to have a permit to be a "many man".

I occasionally carry when I feel the need, but I haven't bothered getting a permit. Frankly, I've never liked the idea of having to get "permission" for something that I see as an inalienable right.

I see that as a right as well. In TN, though, if you use a weapon you're carrying "illegally" now it CAN'T count as self-defense according to law. That's right, you get hit with a murder charge.

Yah, but you have people you're responsible for, and going to jail because you have to be stubborn and right puts your ability to meet real obligations at risk.

    Meh.

I rarely feel the need to carry on my person and, on the occasions that I do, it's worth the (minimal) risk.

To me, CCW permits have always felt like a subtle form of gun registration.

Doesnt mean we sleep with em. For fucks sake, get your head out of your ass and read what we are saying. Gun threads are cool. Yes, many posters here have fire arms. Many carry. Many go to the range often. Many like to talk about them on the occasion. But they are not the center of our universes.

I'm glad you have a hobby and are obsessed. It happens. When I took up fucking as a hobby it was all I could talk about. But if you want to beat on one topic over and over and over, take it to some place like AR15.com if thats all you want to discuss. We have other things to talk about and want you to get into the act. Ya know stuff like Maud Dib suddenly believing that Sherman was right; UA deciding that maybe he really does want to live in an apartment in the city; Elwood declaring that hes growing his hair long, smoking week, and now driving a minibus; Mrs.A and Tamar, the ultimate meet up; tHe Babba getting a bachelors of Science in Physics; Forbin having an event less commute. So just ease back on the beating of one topic into the ground.

Cite the section of the Tennessee Code Annotated where it says this.

    Link.

They annotated portions of it effective Jan 1. It was big in the news. From my understanding, it started when a legislator introduced a law to make it legal to carry in bars if you're not drinking. Well, that flopped and went back the other way.

None of which makes it illegal to use an illegally carried firearm in self defense. In fact, the Defenses sections of most other laws make that law moot in a defensive use situation.

Anywho, Dan Wesson RZ-10 Razorback (5" 1911 chanbered in 10mm) is my normal day carry, with a Fobus in the belt holster for when I'm normally concealed carrying.

How is that working out for you? I've seen the Fobus IWB at my favorite toy store, but they look kinda...cumbersome.

Honestly? It sucks, but I'm too damned lazy to dig the Galco one out of the closet.

edit: It's just not comfortable. It digs into my side.

Roger that. Of course, I've tried IWB's in the past and...they didn't thrill me. I try keeping an open mind though.

But, back on point, I've pretty much ditched Fobus. Their products are solid, indestructible, and light. But, they destroy finishes faster than any holster I've ever seen. If they'd make a lined holster, I'd be back on 'em like white on rice.

I've gone back to using my tried and true Safariland Model 518's.

The thing is, I bought this ont he recommendation of a friend and I agreed to wear it for a whole month to see if I really liked it or if I just was so used to my Galco holster that I wouldn't give it a chance. So I have two more weeks to go, but right now I'd rather just stick the damned gun in my waistband than use the Fobus.

    Not a good product.

My Colt's finish is already destroyed, so it doesn't hurt me any. :D
