In the interest of fairness, the GQP nutters have been screaming about Pizzagate, et al for the last four years. Be careful that you don't turn into the same about Gaetz and his ilk.

I won't start dancing until the indictments are actually issued. I have little hope of anyone facing the consequences of their actions aside from the very lowest hanging fruit.

I state, once again, that Donald J. Trump, 45th POTUS will never see the inside of a jail cell. The BEST we can hope for is making him penniless ala Capone. But, that entails its own dangers. As he becomes more and more financially desperate, the only thing that really matters to him, he'll get increasingly unhinged.

The thing with Gaetz is that while it's pretty certain he's a creep -- see his fiancee's early-20s sister's stories about him trying to hook her up with his middle-aged buddies -- the guy most of the evidence comes from has a specific history of accusing other people of sex with underage girls to save his own butt.

Unless there's some heavy corroboration, his testimony means next to nothing.

There are texts between Greenberg and a minor prostitute saying that he and Gaetz wanted a meeting, wanted her to engage in sex with them, and confirming if she was going to do drugs. And that they agreed and he would book a room. He literally sent a picture of Gaetz in his official role as Congressmen to identify him to the minor prostitute.

You may be conflating with the Venmo transactions, where Gaetz sent money to Greenberg with "hit up X" (X being a minor) and payments marked "School" and "Tuition".

I don't think those are comparable. There is a confirmed federal investigation into Gaetz's alleged human trafficking. And Gaetz apparently tries to secure a pardon from Trump. Pizzagate wasn't a federal investigation, it was a bunch of nutjobs claiming leaked emails contained coded messages.

But I agree nothing is likely to happen to Gaetz.

Yeah, even if it turns out that everything said about Gaetz's potential criminality turns to be exaggerated, there is at least some basis to trigger the FBI and others to look into the situation as well as specific people who either publicly or as reported by a reputable news organization have said Gaetz may have done these things. Whereas there has been nothing to give any valid foundation to Pizzagate theories.

While caution is always warranted, comparing the situation to the Qanon crowd is not.

Fair enough, I checked back on the article I read and it indicated that Greenberg requested to verify the woman's age. I mistook that for an indication that she was young, based on the Venmo transaction story previously.

Though it still indicates a fixer was getting a US congressman together with a prostitute to do sex and drugs. You'd think that would register to his voters, but I guess we are long past caring about these things.
